Chapter 34
Aria.
Soren spent the way with me till it was almost dusk and he needed to leave the pack before it became too dark, and the guards at Silverwolf Pack would definitely ask where he had been, he could get arrested and interrogated.
He had to avoid that, I didn’t know it had become that late, I would have asked him to leave earlier but I didn’t want him to leave and held him down with my random conversation, and he entertained me and made me laugh a lot and I had forgotten about time.
“You can go back now, Aria.” He halted on his track, and stared at me, and the sleeveless shirt that I wore.
“Let me see you get in a car first, then I will go back home.”
“You are stubborn sometimes.” He sighed and took off his jacket, and wore it over my body. He had an inner white shirt, and that saved him from having his bare body revealed when he took off his Jacket. “Have this one, it’s getting cold.” He insisted, and I couldn’t argue with him but stared at the jacket.
He stretched out his hand to me, and I placed my hand over it, he flashed his perfect white teeth at me, and gave my hand a little squeeze.
We continued walking around the path, the street light turned on, and it brightened up our path.
“Damon’s pack is beautiful.”
I nodded. “Especially at night.”
Soren chuckled softly, agreeing to that. “It's somehow peaceful, it’s what you need.”
“It’s what I need but I’m not getting it.”
He stared intently at me “Someday you will.”
I do hope that I would have everything figured out, and before that I had to depend on them for everything so I would be able to get what I want.
“So Kade is preparing to fight?”
Soren nodded, and one of his hands was tucked into his pocket. “It seems more than just a fight, I watched their training once it was ruthless, fierce and demanding. It was more than just their ordinary training, it’s like they are preparing for a war breakout, and this time, Alpha Damon has been involved. You know Alpha Rowan, his plan right now, is to take down Alpha Damon, his pack and you too. There was a rumor that Alpha Damon came over to the pack to mock and threaten Alpha Rowan. I don’t know what he said to Kade that made him take everything on his shoulders or what is holding him back but I know he’s changed.”
“Kade?” I asked, and he nodded curtly.
“His face was already held up in a frown, training non stop, he doesn’t even care about anything else and he doesn’t talk much as he used to.”
I haven’t seen him since that night, and haven’t heard from him either.
“And I think he’s still living with guilt, he has planned on looking for Abby. He hasn’t been able to carry out the plan because of Alpha Rowan.”
“But Abby is dead.” I mentioned.
“He said her body wasn’t found, she could still be out there, lost and if she’s indeed dead, he wants to find her body and bring her home to her parents, so she could rest in peace. That’s what he wants.”
“I will tell Damon about it.”
“I think they hate themselves.”
I shook my head, delaying that. “Damon doesn’t hate Kade.”
“And what about Kade? Can you speak the same for him?”
“I don't understand Kade anymore.” I stated truthfully.
“It’s not the same.” Soren said and he stopped walking, he stared at our hands, and loosened his grip.
“I will take a cab and leave.”
I nodded at him and wrapped my arms over my body. A cab stopped in front of us, and Soren stepped closer to me, his fingers brushed his hair off my face, and he placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
“I will see you soon.”
I nodded as he let go of me, and entered the cab, I waved at him, and he looked out of the window waving back at me, till I couldn’t see him anymore.
I twirled around, and decided to walk back home only to realize how it was evening already, and the sun had gone out completely.
I started to hasten my pace, since I knew nobody in this pack, I walked as fast as I could. I didn’t feel this way when I was walking around with Soren, and now it felt so quiet and lonely.
I walked faster with my arms around my shoulders, I didn’t want to start running and start looking suspicious among the few people walking around.
When I glanced back, I spotted a man in a black outfit and a hoodie, his head was lowered, and his hands tucked inside his hoodie pocket.
What I found strange was that he was moving at the same pace with me.
I looked away from him. Maybe I was the one who was hallucinating. I tried to blend in when I got to a crowded place, took the jacket off my body and tied it over my waist.
The moment I left there, I ran as fast as I could.
I was too scared to look back, I could hear the sound of the heavy feet coming after me, and I kept running. It was even worse when the path that led to Damon’s house was broad and lonely, and the side of the road road was covered with trees.
Not anyone could pass here because it was the Alpha’s territory.
“You are a fast runner.” The voice sounded close to me, rough and in between gasps of heavy breath.
I didn’t look back, I couldn’t dare.
“But you can’t be faster than the paws of a werewolf.” He snarled, and with the growl that came out of his mouth, I knew he had shifted, and he jumped in front of me. His lips shaped into a toothless grin, and in a flash I recognized the black wolf.
Chapter 35
Damon.
“Where is Aria?” I asked when I came home, I didn’t see her when I was driving in, she wasn’t standing on the balcony and she wasn’t inside when I came out either.
“Maybe she is in her room.” Peterson answered instead of the maid I was asking.
“Have you seen her?” I turned to ask the maid again, she shook her head and lowered her gaze quickly.
“When was the last time you saw her?” I inquired.
“I will go check her room.” Peterson spoke and went out, heading towards the stairs to her bedroom.
“Answer me!” I barked at the maid, and it made her flinch.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. She was with a guest the last time I saw her.”
“And?”
“That’s all I know, Alpha.” She answered timidly, and I shoved her aside.
“Find her!” I ordered.
“Yes, Alpha.” She answered in a quaking voice.
I met Peterson running down the stairs. He shook his head at me. “She wasn’t in her room.”
“Did anybody come here?” I asked the maid when she was about to leave.
“Just the guest, Alpha.”
“And who was the guest?”
“It was Soren.” Peterson replied, and I tilted my head to stare at him. “I was the one who drove him here, he wanted to see Aria before he left.” He explained.
My gaze narrowed at him and the maid.
“Nobody else came after that.”
“Nobody else came, Alpha.” She stammered.
“Search around, she might be somewhere.” I ordered, I refused to have any negative thoughts about her in my head.
She was somewhere around the house, that's what I had hoped for, and we were going to find her.
I took my suit jacket off my body, and my shoes into something more comfortable.
I went out to my study and looked around, she wasn’t there either.
I hurried down the stairs, and went out to the front porch and saw the guard moving around the mansion.
“Have you seen her?”
“No, Alpha.” Two of the guards answered.
“I don’t think she came home after she went out with him.” One of the guards said, and I planted my hands on my hips.
“She went out with him?”
“Yes, Alpha. I was at the gate all through, never saw her walk back in here and we’ve searched the whole house with the Beta. She’s not in the mansion.” He let out a sigh. Peterson met up with us jogging, he slowed his pace, and stopped before us.
“Have you…”
Before I could complete the words he shook his head at me, I ruffled my hair, turned around, and the wall met my fist.
“Alpha…” Peterson called out in a strained voice.
“Find her, go out there and search, ask anyone who has seen her, there has to be something.” I said while panting, Peterson locked gaze with me for a moment, he swallowed the words he wanted to say, and bowed his head.
“I will make sure to find her, Alpha.”
I dropped my hands to my side, and heaved a sigh.
Soren couldn’t have taken her away could he? There’s no way he would’ve done that.
But I couldn’t tell.
How could Aria have gone missing from here?
“Open the gate.” I yelled at the guard, they opened the gate and I jogged out through the gate. I met Peterson outside, he came to a halt and waited for me to get close to him.
“Alpha.”
“Can you find a way to reach out to Soren, we will know if he took her away from the pack.”
“Do you think he did that Alpha?”
“Weren’t you the one who said we shouldn’t trust them earlier. I just had a thought about it, he was the one she was there with, and we didn’t know what happened to them.”
“I have spoken to some of the guards, and organized a search, they’ve gone around the pack. We will get something soon. I might not trust Soren but I don’t think he would take her away from here. He knows that she’s mostly safe here, he’s the least person that would do such a risky thing, if he really does care about Aria like he said.”
I nodded at Peterson understandably. “Should we get a car or just…”
“Should I get the car?” He asked.
“We need to get to town.”
“I will get the car.” He jogged back to the house, and I stood along the broad road, glancing side by side the woods at each side of the road.
Peterson drove out with the car, and stopped for me to get in, I opened the car door and hopped into the car.
“Let’s go.” I slammed the door shut, and Peterson drove out, and headed into the streets.
I lowered the glass of the window, and stared out, if I could catch a glimpse of her but there was nothing.
“Have you found a way to reach out to Soren?”
Peterson nodded, and looked away from the wheel, he stared at me for a moment. “I got in contact with him.”
“What did he say?”
“He left her, he didn’t take her with him. She did walk him off a few miles till he got into a cab and according to him he didn’t see anything off with her or around her till he was gone.”
I clenched my fist.
“That means someone in our pack was responsible.”
“Could be true.” Peterson took his gaze back to the main road.
“Take me to where she left him. We can start our search from there.” Subconsciously I placed my finger on my lips and cut the nails off with my teeth.
“Soren said he’s coming back to the pack. He will help to find her.”
“He doesn’t know the pack more than we do.” I took my hand away from my mouth, and looked out the window.
“He can’t get to her before we do. We’ve to find her as soon as we can, turn the pack upside down if we have to…”
“I thought she meant nothing to you.”
I spared him a glance, and his eyes met mine. I didn’t say anything to him.
“You care about her, Alpha. A lot.”
Chapter 36
Aria.
The only option I had was to run into the woods at the side of the road, he came after me.
I screamed for help as I ran, but I could only hear my own voice in the whole forest. It didn’t stop me from running more than my legs could.
I had the thought of climbing over a tree but he could bring down the tree if he wanted to, though that seemed to be the best option that I had, and I wanted to escape and not let him get me.
My body hit against a tree branch which I didn’t see on time because I was glancing behind me, and I rolled over the hill which I didn’t even know was there, and fell face down.
I didn’t know how long it would take before I was able to get back to myself. I groaned because I felt pains all over my body, I tried to stand but my ankle hurt.
I looked around, it was too dark where I was, and I was covered with the canopy trees and grasses. I reached out to a tree, and drew closer to it, and leaned against the tree.
I shut my eyes and opened them after a moment, took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
I didn’t have the slightest idea where I was or how I would be able to get out of here, I looked above where I fell from and it was high and slippery. I won’t be able to climb through, I was bleeding from the side of my head, and it was running down my face and dripping on my shirt.
Can Damon find me where I was? Would he be able to know?
Those were the thoughts I had, and I didn’t know what I should do.
I heard a low growl, and I wanted to hide further, it could be the wolf who was chasing for me. I pulled my legs closer to my chest, and looked out but I couldn’t see a thing.
“Where are you?” It was the voice of the wolf asking, I placed a hand over my mouth so I didn't have to say a word or he might have heard me breathing so hard.
“Can you stop playing, I don’t like childish games but if you want to play a game, I would give it a try and I won’t be the one to lose the game.” He chuckled. I tried to control the sound of my breathing, and keep myself calm, knowing fully well that he was around the spot where I was hiding, he must’ve heard my voice when I fell.
“Are you sure you want to keep it that way?” He asked, and he was coming closer. “Have you forgotten you’ve a weird scent, and now you’ve mixed scent with Damon and someone else, what’s his name again, Soren. Oh yes rogue, did he rub his shirt on you? Anyway, it’s easy to pick you out because I can get your scent from around here. I thought you could hide…” He laughed, “…this is just too easy.”
He shoot his hand over to me, and it grabbed by the neck, I choked, and started to hit his hand off me. His grip was too strong. I saw my feet leave the ground, and my back slammed hard against the tree. He splashed his claws over my shoulder, tore the shirt I wore and made me bleed.
The only sound that came out of my mouth was a muffled sound, I was struggling to get his hand off my neck.
“Should I just end it?” He grinned.
“Who are you…?” I muttered, and he smirked, his eyes darkened.
“You don’t want to know.”
“Who sent you to me?”
“You shouldn’t be that curious either, you might get hurt more than this.”
“It’s Rowan isn’t it?”
He flipped me over, and I crashed against the ground, hitting the side of my ribs over a stone. I grunted out, and placed my hand on my ground, and tried to stand.
He had shifted fully to his wolf form.
“Get up, wolfless little witch.” He cursed, and his hand reached out to my hair, and flipped me forcefully over the tree. I let out a painful cry, and clenched my fist, I was still on the ground, trying to pick myself back up. Though it wasn’t working, I had to get up and fight.
“Come…” He said in his wolf’s voice.
I mustered the strength that I had, and got on my feet, my fist clenched tightly beside me, and I charged at him. I caught the excitement in his eyes, the thought of having me killed was probably what had excited him.
I had picked up a sharp edged stone, and stabbed him with it on the nape of his neck, he scratched me with his claws, and pushed me off him.
I fell and staggered to my feet with my injured ankle, I wasn’t going to let it get to me, I didn’t do anything he could end up killing me.
I grabbed a piece of wood on the ground, and I aimed for his chest. When he came at me again, I would have it projected at his chest, I ignored my heavy breathing and waited for him to attack me.
He growled, and came at me slowly, I remained in position, and my hand shook suddenly, as if something like electricity was running from my body down into my arm, the hand which held the stick.
I supported the hand with my other hand, and couldn’t understand what was happening in my body, I was in a state of shock, and when the wolf jumped at me, it happened so fast and I wasn’t even sure how I used the stick that I was holding.
The huge black wolf fell on my body and we both crashed on the ground with his claws buried at the side of my stomach, and the stick was directly at his chest.
“Aria!”
Chapter 37
Damon.
“Aria!” I yelled, I was standing at the top of the hill when I saw her, going around would take a while before I got to her, and I didn’t want that.
I had seen the wolf attacking her, Peterson held me back when he knew what I intended to do.
“I will be fine.” I told him and took his hand away from me, I gripped tight to the torchlight I held.
“I will meet you at the other side, Alpha. I have to check around the woods if there are others, or something lurking around.”
“Do that.” I nodded at Peterson, and without a second thought, I jumped down from the hill, perfectly landing on my feet.
A lowly grumble came out of my chest, and I made my way down to them, the black wolf was on her body.
“Aria!”
I pushed the wolf off her body, and he rolled over to the side away from her, there was a stick on his chest, and his eyes were wide open.
I gathered Aria in my arms. Her breathing was heavy, and her eyes were flickering. “Stay awake, Aria.” I whispered, and shook her. There was blood on her running down her forehead, and bruises and cuts over her arm, legs, and her face.
I brushed her hair off her face so I could examine the wound she had on her head which seemed to be a deep wound.
I saw it, and my heart clenched at the wound before I could take my eyes off it, the wound on her head sealed up, the blood that was around the spot dried up.
A gasp escaped my mouth, even if she had her wolf, it wouldn’t have healed so quickly.
I took off my sleeves and wore it over her body, covering the bruises on her arms and every cut that was her body was covering up.
I stared at her face, her eyes were closed, and her breathing was still coming out in pants.
“Alpha!” Peterson yelled and I took my gaze away from her for a moment, he glanced at Aria and at the wolf.
He hurried down to the wolf and checked him.
“Is he a member of her pack?”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Is he alive?”
Peterson felt his pulse and shook his head. “He’s dead, Alpha.”
I stared at Aria, and swooped her up in my arms. I had to take her out of here, but I wasn’t sure I was calling the doctors on her.
I don’t think I would be able to do that.
“Let’s go.”
“There’s something else, Alpha. I saw a shadow around, there was someone else here, and I think they were both after her.” Peterson said, I halted with Aria in my arms.
“I need to take her away from here, and then we can discuss what happened, and what we should do with the body of the wolf and everything that we need to know about him.” I replied, and Peterson nodded slightly.
“A wooden stick couldn't possibly kill a wolf.” I heard him grumbled as we started to walk, we had to find our way out of the woods, and get Aria home.
I pretended as if I didn’t hear the statement that he made about the stick that was stuck on his chest.
When we got to town, we had asked around, and someone had seen her, that she had taken the path that led back to the mansion and there was a suspicious man behind her.
That was how we went back without the car, and started our search again. If she was seen somewhere close to the house, then it had to be around the woods or maybe she had gone lost in there.
That was the thought we had, because I had masked her with my scent, I had been able to trace her. The random hug wasn’t just because I wanted it, it was a way to have my scent around her.
I wonder how scared she must’ve felt while she was in there with him.
I came to a sudden hurt, I heard the sound of someone’s feet snapped against something, and it wasn’t from me or Peterson.
‘Someone is here, Alpha.’ Peterson said through the mind link.
‘I have felt the presence of someone else.’ I shut my eyes for a moment, if I could see or know the fate of the person, but I couldn’t do it with just the presence that I felt.
I had to look into his eyes.
‘Alpha don’t, you will get a nosebleed.’ Peterson warned when he noticed what I was trying to do. I exhaled, opened my eyes and tightened my grip on Aria.
“Let’s go.” I growled out.
Peterson nodded, and pointed to the torchlight as we made our way out of the woods.
“Don’t look back, pretend you’ve no idea he’s coming with us, I can tell he's smart from his movement.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“What are we going to do to her, should I get the pack doctor to come over and have her checked?” He asked.
“No.” I answered too quickly.
“She doesn’t need that.”
“She bled a lot, her torn clothes had blood all over it, I’m sure she had sustained a bad injury, and there’s no way she would’ve gone against that huge wolf without sustaining a deep cut somewhere.”
“I will heal the wounds myself, and whatever happens, I don’t want anyone finding out about it. Make sure everyone’s lips are sealed.”
“Yes, Alpha.” He said nothing else while he stole a glance at Aria in my arms.
We came out of the woods, the guards patrolling outside the road hurried over to us when we came out, and that was the last time I felt the presence behind us. It seemed he had gone back.
“Alpha. Soren is here.” A guard in the house said. “How is she?” He looked down at Aria. “I’m sorry, Alpha. I should’ve been more watchful.” He muttered.
I sighed, and walked away from them, he followed behind me with Peterson, and we headed towards the house.
I met Soren pacing up and down the front porch with a worried face on.
“Alpha Damon.” He cried out when he saw me.
My eyes were on him for a long moment, I almost thought he had her, that he took her away from the pack.
He glanced at Aria in my arms, and his eyes got cloudy. I scoffed, if he knew how strong he was, he would push whatever was gathering in his eyes off.
“Look how hurt she is…” He reached out to touch her hand.
“I shouldn’t have allowed her to walk me, I should have forced her to stay back in the house, honestly, I thought it was safe that’s why I let her. I didn’t know, I shouldn’t have, it’s all my fault.”
I broke eye contact with him. “I will take her in.” I murmured, and he moved away from my path and hurried to open the door.
I brought her to her room, and placed her on the bed.
‘Get a maid to attend to her, bring her in, after she’s done with treatment and clothing her. Kill her.’ I order Peterson through the mind link.
‘If you can’t do it, bring her to me in the dungeon, make sure her eyes are covered and hands tied. I would make it a bit peaceful.’
‘Yes, Alpha.’
‘Bring the maid in, I’m waiting.’
‘Yes, Alpha.’ I closed the mind link, and turned to stare at Soren who came into the room with me.
“I thought you took her.”
“Why would I put her at risk, I might be careless but I will never do that to Aria.”
I nodded, and placed my hands on my pocket. He stared at my bare chest, and looked back at Aria, he noticed what she had on was my shirt.
“Thank you for saving her.” He muttered, and I couldn’t help but fixed my gaze on him.
“You shouldn’t thank me for doing that, it’s my responsibility, she was in my pack, within my territory. She was supposed to be safe and not hunted in here. It’s not your fault, but mine. I forgot for a moment. I should have kept the pack safe for her. Just like you thought she would’ve been safe here, that’s what it should have been. This was supposed to be her safe haven.” I was saying a lot to him, and he knew that was the first time I had made such a long statement.
“That’s what she’s to me.” Soren held my gaze. “…she’s my safe haven.”
“I have no intention to take that away from you.”
“Can I trust you?”
I caught a glimpse of Aria stretching over the bed, she was in a state of discomfort. I wanted to go to her, but Soren was just a step ahead of me, and I had to drag a foot back.
“Yes.” I said faintly, I barely even heard my own voice.
Chapter 38
Soren.
I held Aria’s hand beside the bed while whispering and staring at her sleepy face. We had gone out of the room after a maid came in, dressed her and attended to her wounds.
The jacket I had given her was stained with blood as well and I watched the maid take out the jacket and the clothes she wore, and dump them in the trash while I waited outside for her.
When she was done, I went into the room, Damon left. I was alone with her, and I saw her diary open on top of her table.
I let go of her hand, closed the diary, and dropped it inside her drawers.
Then I went back to the bed, sat beside her, held her hand and prayed that she would be fine. There was a bandage on her head, and at the side of her ribs, and even her shoulders.
“I’m sorry, Aria.” I muttered, and stroked her face with my fingers.
I knew it was late, and past midnight now, and I should’ve been at the pack by now else I would get in trouble with Alpha Rowan but I didn’t want to leave Aria this way.
I blamed myself for leaving her alone, I shouldn’t have allowed her to come with me.
There was a knock on the door, I turned around and glanced at the door. It opened and Damon’s Beta came in.
“Do you plan to stay or leave? Alpha Damon doesn't want you to get in trouble with your Alpha if he finds out where you’ve been and you might never get the opportunity of coming out of that Pack again. He wants you to make a decision.”
I stared at Aria.
“She has been treated, she will be fine, and I will watch over her the rest of the night if you want me to.” He leaned against the wall.
“Aria said you didn’t like her.” I replied, and he threw his hands in the air. “It’s not that deep. I only said that because I didn’t trust her.”
“Do you trust her now?”
“I trust my Alpha.”
“I can’t leave her with you, then.” I turned away from him, and took my gaze back to Aria, and squeezed her hand gently. “I will stay till she awakes.”
“You are putting your life at risk, Alpha Rowan won’t take it likely with you if he knew you weren’t in the pack. I thought you said you had a meeting with him. You are going to chance that, and leave him alone?”
“It’s my problem, I will be able to handle it.
He snorted “You ain’t scared are you?”
“I’m not scared of Alpha Rowan, the only thing I’m scared of almost happened.” I took my lips in, and exhaled deeply.
“You cared for her that much even if she’s not yours.”
I spared Peterson a glance. “Because you don’t understand.”
“Make me understand because you’re not making any sense, you want to throw your life away because of her.”
“You cared for your Alpha don’t you? I heard you challenged the Alpha at the pack when you last visited, wasn’t that a risky thing to do.”
“That has nothing to do with what we are talking about.”
“It does. I see you as someone who could do more for your Alpha even if it involves having your life lay down for him.”
Peterson kept quiet, I followed his gaze, and noticed that he was staring at Aria.
“You know I was a rogue, no pack could accept me except Silverwolf Pack…” I paused, and noticed that he was staring at me with curiosity over his eyes. “When I came to Silverwolf Pack after Alpha Rowan accepted me, Aria was the first person that smiled at me despite what she saw.”
“What did she see?” Peterson asked, and moved away from the wall.
“I was covered in blood, and you could perceive the stench smell of the blood on my body, even my claws had dark blood around it. I thought she would be judgemental with her gaze, under those eyes it was as if she knew, she understood me without even saying a word. Till today, she had never asked me what happened, why I looked that way, what did I do? Because that’s what everyone tends to ask, and because I was a rogue they thought I killed a wolf. She was the one that asked if I was okay.”
I blinked my eyes, and dropped her hands beside her. “Then she gave me food, sat there and watched me eat.”
I exhaled heavily and stared at my feet. “I can’t even think of leaving her right now, because I promise that I will protect her and never allow her to get hurt in any way or be a threat to her life.”
“But she’s not your mate, and she can end up being someone else's mate.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“You are going to stay still?”
“Yes. Until I notice that she doesn’t want me anymore, but before then I won’t leave her side. I might be lucky and might not be lucky.”
“You didn’t have a mate?” He inquired as he pulled out a chair from her table, and sat down facing me.
“Shouldn’t you be with your Alpha?”
“Don’t try to change the subject.” He rolled his eyes, I rubbed my hands over my knees.
“She was the reason I turned rogue.” I chuckled bitterly. “A lot happened. It wasn’t a pleasant memory.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
“How do you intend to face Alpha Rowan? If you arrive at the pack tomorrow, they are going to have you imprisoned.”
“I know.”
“And you’re still going to stay?”
“Yes.” I was adamant.
“She—“ He shook his head and slapped his mouth, and resisted himself from saying something.
“She will be fine.” He said instead, I knew that wasn’t what he wanted to say, but I didn’t pressure him on what he wanted to say and decided to let it be.
“I will be back, stay here for a minute.”
“I thought you didn’t trust me.”
“I don’t.”
“Why are you going to leave me here with her?”
“I trust your Alpha.”
He groaned, and rolled his eyes at me. I knew I got him, so I stood up from the bed and stepped out for a minute. I wanted to see the maid that treated Aria earlier.
I stopped a guard I saw outside the hallway and asked him if he saw the maid. I described her to the best I could but he said he had no idea who she was.
I went to the kitchen, and asked the maids I saw there.
“She left.” One of her maids said.
“Late at night, where could she have gone?”
“Home I guess.” The same maid replied.
“Is there a problem?”
“I wanted to ask her some questions.”
“She’s not here.”
I nodded and left the kitchen, I came back to the room, Peterson was seated just where I left him.
I walked back to the bed, and sat on it.
“The maid that treated her, I heard she left.” I told him.
“Did she?”
“You didn’t know.”
He shrugged.
“Is something wrong? Why are you looking for her?”
“There’s something I wanted to ask.”
“About what?” He twirled around on the chair, and fixed his eyes on me.
“Aria, and if she will need to get a doctor.”
“She was once a nurse before she started working at the mansion. I’m sure she knows what she did, you don’t have to worry, Aria will be fine.”
“It just feels weird.” I held his gaze, and we stared at each other for a moment without saying a word until he broke eye contact, and stood up from his chair.
“I will take my leave now, if you need anything let me know or I will send for the maid.”
I nodded and watched him walk out of the door, slamming the door quietly behind him.
Did something happen to the maid? It wasn’t even up to an hour, and she was already out of the mansion. Something doesn’t seem right.
I wanted to go after Peterson but decided against it, that wasn’t the reason I came here, and I would’ve to ask Alpha Damon what he did to the maid if there’s a need to.
Aria’s finger moved, and I scooted closer to her on the bed, she clawed tight to the bedsheet, her head moved from side to side on the pillow.

“…please…Dad…please, don’t go.” She murmured in her eyes, and tears came out of the corner of her eyes. I wiped it off with my thumb.
“…please. Stay with me.”
My heart clenched at the sight of her, I started to caress her hair, and muttered soothing words to her.
“I’m here, I will stay with you, Aria.”
