Four Hearts And One Mate - Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Kade.
“Get Kade in here right now!” I heard Alpha Rowan yelled outside his office, I was already there because I wanted to talk to him about transferring to another pack.
Liam had stepped out of his office, and met me outside. His eyes roamed over my body for a moment. “Come in, Alpha Rowan wants you now.” He held the door of the office and opened it.
I stepped into the office with a skeptical look at Liam. Alpha Rowan was seated on his desk fuming, his hand slammed against the table in front of him.
I wasn’t going to ask if something was wrong, I wanted to talk to him about the issue that had been pending for days and he wasn’t saying anything about it.
“Alpha about the transfer…”
He lifted his hand, and made me clamp my lips shut.
“Transfer?” Someone else spoke, and it wasn’t the voice of the Alpha but someone else. I looked into the office, and saw the figure that had his back against me, he was seated on the couch, and he was the one who replied to me.
He stood up slowly, and spun around.
I frowned when I saw his face.
“What are you doing here, Lucian?” I asked.
“I have a meeting with the Alpha.” He responded, and exhaled. “What transfer are you talking about?”
“That has nothing to do with you, I was talking to the Alpha about it.” I snapped, and turned away from him. I stared back at the Alpha.
“He wants to transfer to another pack, and I do think it's the Nocturnal Pack he plans to transfer to, where the girl was taken to. Alpha Damon’s pack.” Liam said to Lucian, and I glared at him.
Lucian huffed, and moved away from the couch, he leaned beside the desk close to the Alpha.
“You might want to change your mind.” Lucian stated, he brought out a paper from the Alpha’s desk and flung it at me.
It slapped against my face, I growled at him and pulled the paper away from my face.
I stared at the content of the paper, it was a contract that was signed between Alpha Damon and Alpha Rowan before he took Aria away.
“What is this supposed to mean?”
“Alpha Damon tricked the Alpha and took Aria away, he had no plan of forming an alliance with the Silverwolf Pack.” Liam stated.
I dropped the paper on the table, and was trying to put the pieces together of why he was yelling that I should be brought to his office.
I shook my head, it couldn’t be what I was thinking.
“So?” I asked Liam.
I might not like Alpha Damon but he was able to take Aria away from the pack when I couldn’t and saved her from getting killed by Rowan.
“You need to get the girl back from him!” Alpha Rowan growled, and hit his fist against the table again.
“And what do you intend to do to her after you get her?” I asked. “Are you going to kill her again?”
“She was the slave of this pack.” Liam insisted.
I snorted and paced shortly in front of the desk of the Alpha. “So you want me to go to Alpha Damon’s pack and bring her back?”
“Yes.” Alpha Rowan affirmed.
“That’s what you need me for.”
“That’s your duty as the loyal servant of the Alpha, gather the soldiers and go fight and bring back what’s mine!” Alpha Rowan ordered.
My wolf growled in my head, reacting badly to his order.
“I won’t obey this order, Alpha.” I said out loud and stopped pacing. “You’ve already signed it, if Alpha Damon tricked you or not, that’s all. The contract has been signed and Aria will be in his pack and not yours, I’m sure Lucian knows that too, you can’t annul the contract that both Alphas have signed and had their blood stained on it.” I stared at everyone in the room and pursed my lips. “And now, you want me to fight Damon’s warrior and bring her back. It’s like sending me to my own death, I know what’s wrong and I won’t do it. I’m afraid Alpha, I would have to step down as your loyal servant. I’m retiring.”
Alpha Rowan chuckled. “Retiring? How old are you that you intend to retire.”
“That’s my plan, I’m retiring and transferring to another pack.”
“Why?” Alpha Rowan looked at me.
“I want to find my sister, Abby.”
He laughed so loud that he was at the point of tearing up.
“Your sister that died long ago.”
“She went missing, she wasn’t declared dead, Alpha.” My jaw clenched tightly.
He stopped laughing and cleared his throat. “But she went missing in this pack and you intend to find her somewhere else?”
“She might have been taken somewhere else. That’s why I need to search for another pack.” I replied.
Alpha Rowan tapped his fingers on the table and watched me without saying a word, he looked deadly, as if he wasn’t the one who had laughed out loud earlier.
“That’s your plan I see.” He said after a quiet moment.
“Yes, Alpha.” I responded and lowered my head.
“And you’re going to disobey my orders?”
“I was already planning for this before your order came in, Alpha. I have reached out to you many times and sent mails which you never responded to and that’s the reason I came here to see you today. I had no business with the contract you signed with Alpha Damon.”
“Alpha Damon has become an enemy of our pack for what he did to me, he deceived me and forced me to sign a fake document. An enemy of my pack becomes your enemy.” Alpha Rowan was saying as he picked up the envelope which had my documents for retirement and transfer in it.
He took them out and tore them in front of me, each of the documents, he tore them apart.
I clenched my fist at my side.
“You saw what I just did?” He smirked.
“You belong here, and you won’t ever leave my pack, if you decide to run away, I will send my hunters after you, I will kill you. I won’t stop until you and your family are wiped out of the pack. Dead. That’s what I mean.” He snarled, and tore off the last paper.
“Now, I will say it again.” He leaned close against the table.
“Go and bring Aria back to this pack!” He growled.

Chapter 20

Kade.
I stormed out of the Alpha’s office, and hurried down through the stairs as fast as I could, breathing heavily. I was angry, my wolf needed to be let out and I needed something to let my anger out on.
“Kade!” Lucian yelled my name. I ignored him as I kept heading out of the pack house.
“Hold on for a moment.”
I didn’t even spare him a glance, my jaw was clenched tightly as I kept walking.
“Kade!”
I heard his footsteps behind me as he ran towards me, and he grabbed my arm and pulled me back to face him when he got close.
I yanked my hand off his grip. “Get the fuck off me!” I yelled at him.
“I just wanted to talk to you, acting this way isn’t going to help any fucking thing.”
“What does it mean to you? Acting this way…” I huffed. “You’ve no idea what just happened, and what I am about to do, so get the fuck off my path.”
“You are not going to take Aria away from Damon are you?”
“You heard the Alpha’s order.” I said through gritted teeth, Lucain exhaled and ruffled his hair.
“I mean it's not going to be easy.”
“I would give it a try.”
“What about Aria, you want her back here? You knew how Rowan treated her when she was back here. Is that what you want?”
“I have a family to protect.” I replied, and he sighed, and took two steps back from me.
“You were with us in the office earlier. You didn’t say anything to the Alpha. You were quiet, listening to everything that was said, and you did nothing. You’ve always been on Rowan’s side, so you keep staying there and we’ll know whose side you’re on. Don’t act like you’re on the same side with Aria.”
“You’re being paranoid, Kade.” He remarked calmly.
“I’m just going to let you off.”
With a withering glare, I muttered. “Don’t ever stop me again.”
“I just wanted to remind you, you’re still the Gemma of the Pack, Kade Monlito.”
I swung my fist against his face, and he spat out blood.
I stormed off his path, taking the route into the woods, because I wanted to let my wolf out. I heard my bones cracking up, and my body adjusting and coming out bigger and larger.
I let out a loud howl and my wolf Jax forced himself out of my body, taking control of my body.
We ran wild in the woods, we just wanted to clear off our thoughts, and get into a spar with any of the rogues we saw outside the woods in the pack.
I knew that my movement was being followed, and everything that I did was reported to the Alpha.
I came back to the pack late, sweaty and covered in blood.
I wanted to sneak into the house but I saw Mom standing by the door. She has never been out this late, I was startled when I saw her standing there.
The look in her eyes was distant, her face was pale as it has always been.
The look twitched to distaste and disappointment when she saw my body, she moved away from the door quietly, and went to sit on the couch.
I had to freshen up before I came back to the living, so I took a glance at her. She was still seated there, staring at the blank wall in front of her.
I went to the kitchen, and checked the microwave where my meals are usually kept, and I found it.
“…you’ve been coming home more often, and you eat at home too. Is the girl no longer in the pack house?” Dad asked when I settled down to eat at the dining.
I didn’t want to talk, because I already had a bad day at the office of the Pack house but I couldn’t stop myself from responding to him when he talked.
“I didn’t know you knew her.”
“I knew there was something behind your sudden transfer to The Nocturnal Pack, is that where she was taken?”
I dropped my fork on the table, I hadn’t even put a spoon in my mouth, I took the plate back to the kitchen, and dumped it on the sink.
“What do you mean?” I wiped my mouth and stepped out of the kitchen, Dad was leaning against the wall.
“She was a slave.”
I took in a deep breath and managed to calm myself. “We all know that.” I responded, and chugged down the glass of water I left at the dining table.
“Is that why you wanted to leave? You were even going to retire, quit your role as the Gemma. Do you even…”
“Why act like you care about me? Please Dad, keep looking away like you have always done! I have a family, yet for years I have never eaten with them on the same table. A stranger cared more about me than you ever did. I was going to do everything that I can for her but too bad, I won’t be able to do that. I have never done anything for her just like I never did for Abby. You blamed me for everything that happened, and I accepted it, when all I ever wanted was to be truly happy. Don’t I deserve to be happy?”
“Kade…” His voice trailed off.
“If you cared for me just a little as you cared for Abby, I won’t have asked for more.”
“Don’t you ever talk about Abby!” Mom screamed from the couch when she sat.
“Honey.” Dad cooed her, and went towards her. She has stood up from the couch, her eyes gone red and big.
She was probably cursing at me.
“You ungrateful son!” She shouted.
I took my lips in, and breathed out heaving.
“After everything I did, I know I would never fill Abby spot in your heart, and good news we won’t be leaving the pack. The Alpha never approved of it.”
“How would he approve of it?” Mom snapped, she wagged a finger at me.
“It’s because of you!”
“I fucking know!” I raised my voice as well. They were taken aback at the sound of my voice.
“That’s why you’re not my son.” She blurted out calmly.
The realization of her words hit me slowly.
“I am not your son?”
“You’re just a child that I picked up.” She hit her fist on her chest. “And you killed my daughter!” She screamed out her lungs.
“All my life, I regretted taking you away, I should have left you that night. I should have left you at that pack, I shouldn’t have taken you with me, maybe Abby would still be here.”

Chapter 21

Aria.
I hadn’t encountered Peterson ever since the last conversation we had in the kitchen. If he was avoiding me, I didn’t know because I tried not to get involved with him anyway.
And I got a note from Damon that he would be home late tonight. We haven’t had any deep discussion since then, I didn’t want to force him to talk to me.
I realized he found it difficult to open up to me, whatever happened to him.
I was flipping through my Mom’s diary on the balcony, I wanted to know what I should do. I felt I was being stuck and didn’t know what I should do or how I could come up with a plan.
I saw someone waving a hand at me, and I lifted my head and closed the diary. Soren was outside, I didn’t know when he had come into the house.
I stood up from the chair I sat on, and smiled down at him.
“I will come to you.” He mouthed, and I nodded and held the railing, waiting for him to come to the balcony.
It took some minutes before he came to the balcony.
“Don’t tell me the guard held you?” I asked.
“They did.” He chuckled, and stretched out his arms towards me, my body touched against his warm chest, and his arms went around my back.
We disengaged after a moment. “You look different from the last time I saw you, you’re healing.” He remarked, and brushed his fingers against a wound that I had sustained on my shoulder.
I pointed to the chair, and we sat down. I picked up the diary and placed it on my lap.
“How did you get there? You don’t seem to have a problem coming here.”
He smirked. “I have my ways.”
“Always being sneaky ain’t you.”
He laughed, and then left a smile on his face. “You know me too well.”
He leaned against the chair, and watched me.
“Is something bothering you?”
I shook my head, because I didn’t want to talk about it.
“Thinking of what to do?” He asked, and I raised my brows at him.
“How did I know? I can see the look on your face.” He let out a deep breath.
“Have you heard?” He inquired, and I creased my brows.
“Is there something I should know?”
“Silverwolf pack is currently in hell, and a lot has been happening.”
I sat up properly, and fixed my gaze at him.
What was that supposed to mean?
“What’s happening?” I went further to ask.
His shoulders sagged. “I thought you knew, maybe that’s the reason you looked that way.”
I won’t know if anything was happening because Damon never informed me about anything that was happening outside the house, he keeps things away from me, and his Beta too.
I couldn’t ask him about anything, knowing how vague he was, and secretive.
I touched his arm. “Say something Soren. Let me know what’s happening, does it involve Kade?” I asked.
His eyes narrowed at me, and he clasped his hand over mine.
“The Alpha found out about the contract Alpha Damon signed, he deceived him and tricked him that he was going to form an alliance. Instead, if he ever comes for you, there will be a war between the two packs…” Soren tried to explain, and I listened to every word that came out of his mouth.
“He never intended to form any alliances with Alpha Rowan. His Beta Liam…” He paused, and locked gaze with me.
I knew Liam, though he never hit me like Rowan does, he follows Rowan’s strict orders, and that includes having me locked up or starved.
He was loyal to Alpha Rowan and would do anything for him, I never knew what Rowan promised him or why he was that way towards Alpha Rowan.
“What did he do?” I asked keenly.
“…he asked some of those warriors to go after Kade, they were ready to kill if he had fled from the pack.” Soren muttered, and my jaw dropped.
“Why? What did he do?” I sounded desperate as I asked, I wanted him to stay low with Alpha Rowan, I knew he could do something bad to Kade.
“Kade wanted to transfer, he didn’t allow him to leave the pack with his family and now…” He exhaled, and held my gaze. “He will come after you.”
I huffed and blinked my eyes at Soren, what he said didn’t make any sense to me.
“He will come after me. Why would Kade come after me?”
“Alpha Rowan wants you back in the pack, and he has sent Kade to come after you, to bring you back.”
“Then…”
He knew the words that I wanted to say, Kade would have to fight against Damon or his men to get me.
“He can’t go against the Alpha’s order.
“Then what? He will come here to find me, does Alpha Damon know about this?”
“I think he does.”
“Then why didn’t he say anything to me?
“Maybe he wanted to handle it on his own, and didn’t want to get you involved.”
“But it involves me!”
I swept my hair off my face, and groaned inwardly.
“I have to do something about it.”
“You don’t have to do anything, do you plan to go back to Alpha Rowan?”
“Then what will happen to Kade if he fails to get me?” I asked and Soren kept quiet. I stood up from the chair, and held onto the railings with both hands.
“Do you think Alpha Rowan would let him off?”
“He won’t do anything to him either.”
I turned to the side and stared at Soren. “Why?”
“Because Kade is the strongest warrior he has, he won’t lose that but he might decide to hurt something or someone close to him.”
That would probably be his parents, I knew something had been off when I never heard from him. He had never been away from me for long.
“And where is Kade now?” I mumbled in a shaking voice.
“Kade went missing a day ago.”
“What?” I snapped. “I need to go.”
“Calm down, Aria.” Soren grabbed my arms and made me stand firm.
“I need to find Kade!” I yelled at him.
His grip tightened around me. “Think about yourself!”
“About myself?” I huffed. “When has Kade ever thought about himself before jumping in to save me? Do you have any idea how many times he has put me first?” I was about to break down and I hated the way my voice sounded.
He pulled me into his arms, and his hand stroked my hair to keep me calm.
“Kade needs me.” I mumbled quietly.
“If you step out of here, Aria. Rowan will get you, and there won’t be any going back.” Soren whispered, I shook my head against his arm.
I wasn’t listening to what he was saying, something was wrong with Kade, and I was only regretting that I was there for him when he needed me.
“Leave her.” I heard a voice speaking behind us, I pulled away from Soren’s arm, and Alpha Damon was standing there.
Soren tilted his head downward at him. I wonder how long he stood there in silence and listened to what we were saying.
“Go if you want to.” He uttered.
I sniffed and looked at him. “Should I go to Kade?”
He nodded.
The look in his eyes I couldn’t decipher what it meant.
“Yes.” He replied quietly.
“Go through the woods, it’s safe that way.”
“Alpha…” Soren wanted to protest but Damon quelled him with a look, and he swallowed up the words that he wanted to say but looked restless.
“I’m not going to stop you from doing what you want to, you’ve the freedom to do that but I promise to keep you safe.” His voice was calm.
Without another thought, I turned the other way and ran.
Running to Kade.

Chapter 22

Damon.
“Alpha…” Soren turned to me just after Aria ran out. “Why would you let her go? Alpha Rowan is searching for her, his men are in the woods and you wanted her to take that part. What if she got caught?” He rasped and I had just stared dumbly at him.
I knew about that, that Rowan’s men may be out looking for her.
“That’s where you come in.” I said to him, he was the first wolf that impressed me with his skills, the first time he had come into the pack, he had sneaked in like some sort of thief.
No one has been able to sneak into my pack in years, and I wondered how he was able to do it. I had run a quick background check on him and found out he was once a rogue, and he had helped Aria to escape the pack that night.
“You want me to go after her?”
“You’ll look out in the woods, and give signals if there’s any trouble. I don’t think anyone knows the woods more than you do, you’re always in and out of it. If Aria ever goes missing or Alpha Rowan hears that she left the pack. He’s going to call for you to find her.
Soren stared at me, and whatever he was thinking.
“What will I do then?” He asked.
“Look for her.” I told him, and turned away from the balcony.
“Alpha!” Soren called and I looked over at my shoulder and glanced at him.
“And what will you do now that she’s gone?”
“I’m going after her.”
“Then why did you let her go?”
“Because she will be the only one to find him and stop him from being killed.” I replied, and strolled out of the balcony.
I had a quick change of outfit before I shifted to my wolf form Maximus.
He was comfortable with her from the first day we saw her at the pack, there was a reaction from him which had never been stirred by any wolf. Aria was the first to wake up my wolf even while he was asleep.
I wasn’t going to leave her alone, and Maximus had captured her scent and we’ll be able to find her wherever she went.
I didn’t go with any of my soldiers, not even
Peterson because I didn’t want to seem like I was about to start a war between packs.
We raced through the woods, picking any sense of her and stopped when we did.
She was close.
She hadn’t gone far because she was on her feet. I slowed my pace and leaned against a tree, keeping an eye out against rogues or Rowan’s men.
Rogues were most dangerous, they attacked any wolves.
I caught the sight of Soren moving around the area that I was, he might look funny but he was quite smart.
‘Alpha, why would you leave like that?’ I heard Peterson’s voice through the mind link.
‘We won’t take much time.’ I replied.
‘You should have let me come with you.’
‘What about the pack? You’re supposed to watch over it when I’m not there.’
‘My duty is to protect you, Alpha.’
‘And the Pack.’ I added.
‘You are getting distracted because of her, Alpha and she’s not worth any of your attention.’ The mind link closed after he spoke, leaving me no chance to say a word.
I breathed out heavily, and moved away from the tree and followed her scents.
I would have to speak with Peterson but now wasn’t the time.
I stopped running when I got close to a tree house and darted out of sight before I got seen. I hid behind another big tree, I could see her as she climbed through the tree house.
I don’t want her to know that I was here, and was waiting for her, no matter how long it was going to take.
It took a while before she came out, and Kade came out behind her. I don’t know how long I waited but my legs were getting cramped and the moon was already out and I could see my reflection.
“I need to go now, Kade.”
“Should I come with you?” He asked.
“No, you can’t. You’ve to go back to the pack.” Aria said to him and while he was insisting on following her. I came out.
He noticed that I was there before she did, when she caught him staring, she spun around and saw me standing behind them.
“Alpha Damon.” She called and looked of relief washed over her and she ran over to me.
“You heard her. Go back to the Pack and speak with your Alpha.” I said, and held Aria’s hand.
He scoffed. “You don’t have to tell me what to do.”
I ignored what he said, it was because of Aria, I stood here and listened to him.
“I will take her back home with me, and you don't have to worry about her safety.
He stood there and stared deeply at us. I held Aria’s hand tightly, I had seen her when she hugged him, and he had held her like she meant the whole world to him, and now I could tell he was thinking that I was taking that away from him.
“You must’ve heard that I was ordered by the Alpha to bring her back to the Pack.” He said after a while as if he had just got back to his senses.
I hummed.
“And you let her come to me. Isn’t that some reckless move?”
“Kade.” She had tried to caution him but he wasn’t even staring at her.
“You are right.”
“And…” He looked around. “…you aren’t with any guards, what were you trying to do Alpha?”
I knew when he looked around he was searching for my soldiers and if I had come with any of them. He had seen that I was here all alone.
“What if I take her away from you now?” He stepped closer to us.

Chapter 23

Aria.
I knew where to find Kade, if he wasn’t in the pack then there has to be a place that he should be.
He had brought me here so many times if we wanted to get away from the pack, and then we would hide there till it was dusk.
That was the first place that came into my mind, and it was the place I had run to, I didn’t even take a glance back but kept running until I got there and I never encountered any rogue on my way and neither did Damon’s men stop me from leaving.
When I saw Kade outside, I hugged him from behind, my arms tightened around his body.
“Aria.” He called my name calmly, and I nodded slowly against his body.
“How did you know….” He exhaled softly and spun around, my arms dropped from his body, and I looked him up in his face, his eyes looked teary and sad.
“Why did you come here?” He asked instead, and I got into his arms again.
He held me close to his body and didn’t say another word.
“You’ve to go back to the pack, Kade.” I muttered against his ear. His arms only tightened against my body, he exhaled deeply and withdrew from me after a moment.
“Come.” He took my hand, and led me through the wooden stairs into the tree house that he made.
“What’s wrong, Kade?” I asked when we got seated and I sat close to him, because our knees were brushing against each other.
He held my left hand, and placed it against his lap.
“You know you can talk to me, and tell me what’s wrong.”
“Did Damon let you go?” He inquired and I nodded curtly, he looked down at our hands and breathed out heavily.
“I found out I wasn’t adopted, I wasn’t their son. I lived all my life thinking they were my parents, and I just found out that I am not related to them in any way. Worse, they blamed me for the death of their daughter, and wanted me to repay them for everything that they did for me, taking in the child of a stranger into their home.” He explained and there was heaviness in his voice when he spoke.
I kept quiet and just squeezed his hand while he talked.
“I don’t know what to do anymore, and Alpha Rowan wants me to get you. I can’t leave the Silverwolf pack. I feel stuck or would I say trapped and I have to see the faces of the people who lied to me and deceived me and now it all makes sense why they treated me that way. I was never their son.”
My other hand went to his face, I caressed it with my thumb and made him look at me, he smiled weakly trying to hide the sadness in those eyes.
“Is that why you ran away?”
“I needed a place to think. I can’t do that at home, I needed to clear my head and this was the place I could think of.”
“Have you decided what to do? You’ve to stay alive Kade, majorly because I need you.” I stated, and he chuckled silently.
“What do you need me for, you’ve Alpha Damon beside you.”
“He isn’t you, Kade.”
He hummed, and looked away from me.
“I thought you won’t need me anymore, I couldn’t help when you needed me, I just watched Damon take you away from the pack, I felt helpless and powerless.” He shrugged. “…so I thought, there’s nothing I could do for you and I can’t be an Alpha either. I’m just a loyal soldier.”
“Rowan is after me again, that’s what I heard.”
“And he sent me to get you.”
There was silence between us for a minute. I had a lot of thoughts running through my head and I didn’t know how I was going to tell him about everything. I wasn’t ready to tell him all that yet but I needed him and I wanted him to know that.
He shouldn’t think of doing anything stupid to himself or allowing himself to get caught by Rowan.
“Are you going to come for me?”
“I have to follow his orders if I want to live, he made sure of that.” His gaze met mine for a brief moment and then he looked away from me.
“And your parents, what would you do about that? If you think of escaping, he’s going to hold them down.
“They are not even my parents.”
“You are not going to abandon them will you, Kade?”
His hand left hind and I withdrew my hands to my side.
“I didn’t plan on doing that. Actually I planned to search for Abby, I just wanted to hope that she isn’t dead and she’s out there somewhere, waiting for me to come to her or anyone to find out but that plan has been ruined.”
“What if you took side with us?”
“Us?” He furrowed his brows at me.
“Are you close with Damon now?”
“I mean Soren and I.”
I knew I had been able to win Soren over, and he would help me with my plans.
He cleared his throat “Soren?”
I nodded.
“What’s your plan?”
“Take down Alpha Rowan.”
He laughed, and shook his head, then he stood up. “You can’t do that, Aria. You absolutely can’t do that.”
“If you can help, we can take him down. You’ve to trust me.”
“Wake up! Aria.” He snapped.
“We are talking about Alpha Rowan here, he isn’t just some weak Alpha with a small pack but you’ve Alpha Damon on your side shouldn’t make you think such things, he’s dangerous and has strong warriors. You can’t just take him down because of what he has done to you.”
I clamped my lips shut because I didn’t expect him to react that way, and now I didn’t know what I should say to him, and make him believe that I meant what I said.
“Alpha Rowan…” He sighed and came back to take his seat beside me. “I didn’t mean to sound harsh to you but it doesn’t seem possible.”
“We can join forces.”
“With you, don’t fucking tell me, Alpha Damon. He just wants to take you away, and everything he does is for his own benefit, he doesn’t care about anyone else.” He argued. “If you come back to the pack, I promise. I will be able to protect you and keep you beside me. You don’t need to get into any of those messy political fights. It’s not for you.”
“Then what’s for me?” I asked, and stared at him. “…a submissive mate for you, sit at home and bear you pup is that it? Because you can protect me?”
“That’s not what I meant.”
I let out an exasperated sigh and stood up.
“I should leave…”
“Aria, I didn’t mean it that way.”
He followed me, and I was heading out of the tree house.
I spun around sharply and almost hit his chest. “If Damon only cares about himself then why is he here right now? Why did he come for me? What will he gain in all of these and I got captured. It has no loss on him because I’m the one who needs him just like I needed you!” I poked a finger on his chest.
“I’m sorry, can you stay with me for a while.”
“Go back to the pack Kade.” I muttered.
Damon didn't know I had seen him within those trees that he was hiding in, he came out when he saw me and I had to pretend that I never knew he was there.
Waiting for me.
“…what if I take her away from you now. You didn’t think that, did you?” Kade asked, and Damon shrugged. “I did.”
Kade scoffed. “Then you let her?”
Damon shook his head “No, that’s why I came with you, I watched her and kept her safe.”
Kade growled. “All you ever do is take what doesn’t belong to you.”
“And does Aria belong to you? The moment I had signed a contract with Rowan, she became mine.”
Kade snickered. “The deceit that you signed with Rowan.”
“If it was all deceit, he should have taken it to the Alpha’s court and let it be judged by the council. But he won’t do that because we both agreed that Aria was coming with me. You can’t attack me right here because you’re all alone in there, you might be a strong warrior, but you can’t take down an Alpha on your own except if you want to risk your life doing that.”
I held Damon’s arm and tried to pull him away from going closer to Kade, I feared they might get into a fight.
Kade's deadly glare pierced into Damon’s skin, but he remained unfazed by it.
“I have taken down an Alpha.” Kade drawled and hissed through his teeth.
Damon chuckled amusingly. “Then, I will be waiting for you to come for me.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me away from there. Behind me, I heard Kade let out a loud growl and that was just how angry he was, and Damon, though his jaw was clenched, he kept his calm.
