Claimed as a breeder - Chapter 19

Chapter 19

DAPHNE

“Are you done?” His voice smacked me out of my thoughts, and I blinked my eyes in embarrassment.

Well, I won’t deny the fact that he turns me on just by looking at him. I can’t believe it, how did this monstrous Alpha manage to have so much effect on me?

“What… What are you talking about, Alpha?” I stammered, even from my voice it was so obvious that I was lying.

He scoffed, staring at my soft lips like he was going to devour it. “Really? It’s written all over you, Daphne. You might not want to say it, but you just can’t hide it.”

“You just said I’m the last thing you’d need, right? If that is the case, I would like to retire.” I swallowed hard. Of course, I know I can’t control myself, so I need to leave.

“Oh, Daphne.” He laughed, walking around me with his eyes all over me. Is he scanning me? “Have you forgotten what you’re here for? You are yet to give me a pup, yeah?”

My heart skipped a beat on hearing him say that. However, it was different this time because I wanted him inside of me, unlike the other times.

“I… I…” I stuttered.

“A pup, Daphne. Isn’t that why you’re my breeder? Why are you rushing to leave, huh?” He asked, kissing my earlobes as I ran my fingers around his bare body. My hand went straight to a mark on his back. The mark seemed to come from an old wound, but it was pretty deep.

The tension in the air was getting worse because he was already kissing my lips. The moment I touched the scar, he stopped, and stared at me with shock.

“Are you okay?” I managed to ask as he stared at me.

Without saying a word, he hugged me tight like his life depended on it. I was pretty confused with many questions running my mind.

“How did you get the mark on your back?” I asked after a few minutes of silence.

He smiled faintly at me, and disengaged the hug. “Go to bed, Daphne. You can sleep here.”

“I can? I thought you said you don’t like random women sleeping on your bed in your bedroom, huh?” I mumbled, but he heard it. Likewise, I mean, he’s a werewolf with a good hearing sense.

He snapped. “You’re not a random woman, Daphne.”

I don’t know why, but I felt so excited when I heard him say I wasn’t just a random woman. Well, I would rather not have high hopes. “I can lie on the couch if you like. I mean, I would rather not inconvenience you…”

However, he didn’t let me conclude, he carried me in a cradle carry and laid me on the bed, covering me with a duvet.

“Why does it feel different when I’m with you?” He asked.

My eyebrows furrowed confused. “What difference?”

“It’s nothing. Just go to sleep, okay? I have a lot on my table, and I wouldn’t want to keep you awake.” He kissed my forehead before walking away.

Nevertheless, there was something I noticed. The moment I touched his scar, he quickly put on his shirt, and that got me wondering why he would do that. What’s so special about the scar on his back?

I tried to stay awake, and watch him work with his desktop in front of him, but my body failed me. I slept off just five minutes after he brought me to the bed.

JORDAN

I turned my gaze to Daphne, and watched her sleep peacefully while shaking my head. I know that what I feel for her is true love, but I also don’t want to endanger her life.

Immediately, I had flashbacks on the people I hurt in the past. They were all people who cared and loved me. What sort of curse is this? Why do people who I love keep getting hurt because of me?

“Daphne, I’ve fallen for you. I don’t know how it happened, even if I tried to stop it. I love you too much to hurt you. Furthermore, I won’t forgive myself if anything happens to you just because of me.” I thought within me as I watched her sleep.

After a few minutes of working, I fell at sleep on the desk. I hardly sleep, but with Daphne in the atmosphere, I always fall asleep.

*

“You murderous monster! Having you as my child was the worst woe given to us by the Moon Goddess.” My dying father screamed, and that seemed to agitate me the more.

Without thinking twice, I shifted into a giant wolf, and pounced on him. His hand was chopped off, and it fell right behind me.

*

I jerked up from the desk, sweating profusely. It was a dream… the nightmare that haunted me for the past years of my life.

My eyes went straight to the wall clock. It was already 6am. I walked into the bathroom and freshened up before leaving for the office.

“Good morning, Alpha.” Theodore greeted the moment I stepped into the office.

I forced a smile at him and nodded to his greetings, but given that Theodore and I were not just Alpha and Beta, we were best of friends, he noticed my countenance within a few seconds of my arrival.

“Jordan, are you okay?” He tapped my shoulder, and I gulped hard.

“Theodore, I can’t…” I buried my forehead into my palms.

The words kept echoing in my ears. “You’re a monster, Jordan.”

“You don’t deserve to be loved. You’re a curse to the Red moon Pack.”

“I wish you were never my son. I regret the day I gave birth to a cursed pup like you.”

“What else can you do, Jordan? You were sent to school to learn, but you ended up killing your seatmate? You cursed freak.”

I shut my eyes with my hands, holding my head tight. I felt like I was going to explode.

Without hesitation, I reached for the box of cigarette on my table. Taking out a stick and placing it in between my lips, I lighted it.

“I’m a monster, Theodore. I won’t forgive myself if I hurt Daphne. Have you forgotten people who I love and love me back suffer? Daphne doesn’t deserve to be brutally executed like that.” I smoked hard. Smokes emanated my mouth and nostrils.

“But she’s your breeder, Jordan. How will she conceive if you don’t screw her?” Theodore worried.

Taking a sharp breath, I snapped. “I’ll make her hate me, Theodore. I can marry another person. How about Eleanor? Her father has always wanted me to mate with her.”

“What? But you don’t love her, right?” Theodore freaked out.

“Yes. That means she won’t get hurt, and Daphne won’t get hurt too.” I replied with finality in the tone of my voice.

I can’t afford to hurt Daphne.

Chapter 20

DAPHNE

The ray of sunlight shone directly into my eyes from the window. I rubbed my eyes weakly as I struggled up from the bed.

Staring around, the thought of what happened last night brought smiles on my face. Turning my gaze to the other side of the bed, I saw a tray with a mug of hot chocolate and some sandwich.

“Who would have thought that will ever receive breakfast in bed?” I thought with a wide smile.

Yanking the duvet off my body, I stood up from the bed. The table in front of me was still littered with files as a result of Jordan’s late night works. My face beamed with smiles as I stared at his picture on the table. So this is love?

My gaze went back to the hot chocolate the moment my stomach grumbled hungrily.

Sitting back on the bed, I picked up the cup of the pipping hot chocolate, and gulped down a large amount of it.

I bit into the sandwich as I sipped the hot chocolate. For the first time in my life, I felt loved. I lost my self-esteem while with my father and my stepmother, but Jordan has finally succeeded in making me believe in myself again.

After the breakfast, I walked out of the room searching for Alpha Jordan because I was yet to see him this morning.

However, as I walked down the hallway, I saw how everyone was staring at me, pointing fingers at me and whispering.

“What’s going on?” I thought within myself.

“Poor her! She thinks the Alpha would stoop so low to make a wolfless omega like her his Luna?”

“Isn’t that so pathetic?”

“I wonder what the Alpha will choose to do with her. I mean, she used to be his breeder, but I don’t think he’ll need one after getting a Luna.”

“Watch where you’re going.” One of the ladies screamed as I bumped into her with tears in my eyes.

Gulping hard, I waved at her. “I’m… I’m sorry. Excuse me, but what is the occasion? What is with the decorations?”

“You don’t know? Oh dear, well, the alpha is getting engaged to Miss Eleanor tonight. They are throwing a glamorous party.” The lady squeaked in excitement before walking away.

My eyes squinted in a mixture of confusion and cut. Alpha Jordan is getting engaged? How? Didn’t he just make me fall harder for him last night? Was that night a joke to him?

I felt like my head was spinning. So, I staggered a bit, but got a hold of myself while leaning against the wall. I felt so betrayed. Did he just dump me? Am I even allowed to use the word ‘dump’? I mean, what was I thinking?

The moment I saw madam Dorothy coming towards me, my eyes lit up with a sudden feeling of hope.

“Is it true, Madam Dorothy? Is it true that Alpha Jordan is getting engaged to Eleanor?” I asked with the last strength in me.

Trust me, I hoped that she would tell me that they were all lying to me. That the Alpha is not getting engaged to Eleanor.

Madam Dorothy sighed, patting my back. “I’m sorry, Daphne. I would rather not tell you because I know this is going to break you down.”

I burst into a sad cackle. “What was I thinking, Madam Dorothy? Why didn’t you wake me up from that impossible nightmare that I was having? Of course, He’s just a user, a player,

and someone who I should have a pup for.” My voice was drowning in sadness.

Madam Dorothy shook her head sadly, hugging me tight as I wept on her shoulder.

“I’m sorry, child.” She mumbled while patting my back.

My eyes caught with Alpha Jordan walking towards me with his hands wrapped around Eleanor’s tiny waist. Eleanor upon seeing me started grinning from ear to ear.

“Oh, baby, isn’t that your breeder? I mean your omega slave who you just bought? Why does she look so sad?” I heard Eleanor mock me.

Without hesitation, I disengaged the hug with Madam Dorothy, and wiped my tears immediately.

Alpha Jordan didn’t respond to her, he only stared at me for a while. Even while I tried to control myself, I just couldn’t. Tears sting my eyes, and clouded my eyes.

“Let’s go.” Alpha Jordan urged his new arm candy, who smirked at me as they walked away.

I sat at the balcony with my eyes swollen as a result of the constant crying I’ve been doing. Refilling the glass in front of me with some dry gin, I gulped a little from the glass.

“Well, well, well. The omega has finally known her place.” I heard someone clap in a mockery manner from behind.

I didn’t need to turn my back to know who it was. Of course, it was the Alpha’s Luna to be, Eleanor.

Dragging the chair beside, she sat down with her face beaming with smiles. “Does it hurt?”

“What do you want from me, Eleanor? Before you came here, I was really at peace.” I snapped at her.

After staring at me for a few seconds, she burst into laughter again. This time, the laughter rented in air, and was filled with ridicule and torment. “I warned you, omega girl. I warned you to stay the f*** away from my man. Why do I smell his scent all over you?”

“Can you let me be, Eleanor? What more do you want me to do?” I asked with a shaky voice, blinking rapidly to stop tears from flowing down my cheeks.

She laughed a little, and continued. “It’s good you’ve woken up from your too good to be true dreams, Omega. I am the only one befitting to be Alpha Jordan’s Luna. We've been lovers for ages, and you think you can just come out from the gutters and take him away? You will forever remain my slave, you flirtatious omega.”

Anger engulfed me, I stared at her with my eyeballs looking so fierce, and

my fist clenched tight.

“See you at the engagement party, pathetic loser.” She laughed loudly as she walked away.

Chapter 21

ELEANOR

“Oh, you look wonderful, Eleanor.” Rebecca, my best friend, squeaked in excitement the moment she stepped into the dressing room.

My face beamed with smiles on seeing her. Without hesitation, she dropped the box of presents that she was holding on the table and hugged me tightly. Then we kissed

each other's cheeks afterward.

“Bestie, I thought you wouldn’t make it to my engagement party. I would have cut you the f*** off.” I shrieked excitedly.

“I wouldn’t miss your engagement to the absolute love of your life for anything. You and I know how long you’ve had a crush on Alpha Jordan. I mean, who would have thought that Mr. Grumpy would actually put a ring on your finger.” Rebecca spoke in a lower tone, and we shared a laugh.

Immediately, she picked up the box, and handed it to me. “Here, this is a gift for you. I came all the way from Hong Kong just for your party.”

“Oh, my gosh! I’m so elated that you made it.” I grinned as I tore the proper wrapped gift box open. My eyes grew in amazement and pleasure the moment I revealed the present.

“Jeez, girl! Did you buy this for me? It’s super expensive. Isn’t this the hope diamond necklace that I’ve always wanted?” I gasped, clasping my palm over my mouth.

“Of course. I made sure to buy your favorite necklace at the auction last week. Anything for you, girl.” She smiled.

Without hesitation, I quickly brought it out of the box, and started wearing it on my neck… she helped me put it around my neck. I stared at the mirror with admiration written all over my face. “Thank you so much, Becca. This means a lot to me.”

“You’re welcome. Anyway, how did it happen so quickly? I mean, did he even court you?” Rebecca asked while sitting beside the bed.

My countenance changed almost immediately. “I… I don’t know what to say, Becca. It happened quite suddenly, I mean, I accepted to be his Luna because I’ve always wanted to.”

“What? Are you sure that he even likes you? Why doesn’t he have a mate yet?” Rebecca raised her brows.

Heaving a sigh, I continued. “I know it’s weird, but I’m so happy that I’m finally going to be with Jordan. It’s awful that he has a breeder.”

“A breeder?” Rebecca’s eyes grew in astonishment and displeasure.

“Keep your voice down, Rebecca. I don’t want anyone to hear this. Actually, she was here before I got back from the states. With the way Jordan treats her, I could tell that he feels something for that dirty omega.” I spoke with my teeth gritted.

Rebecca’s expression changed into disgust. “What? An omega? Does he have a breeder? Aren’t you both getting mated? Why does he need a breeder when you can actually give

him a pup?”

“I don’t know, Rebecca. In fact, I hate that omega’s guts. You should see how she talks back at me, an Alpha’s daughter. There is no better match for Jordan, but me. I mean, we’ve been friends since childhood. I’m the only one befitting to be his Luna, and not some picked up Omegas.” I said with disgust written boldly on my face.

Taking a deep breath, Rebecca sat closer to me, and asked. “Are you sure he doesn’t have feelings for the omega girl? If that girl should attend your party, will Jordan still tie the

knot with you?”

“I… I don’t… oh, Rebecca. I’m so in love with Jordan. Likewise, I can’t give my man up to that stupid omega.” I cried out, trying hard not to ruin my perfect makeup.

Rebecca suddenly smiled widely. “We have to find a way to stop her from attending your engagement party. That way, she won’t be a stumbling block over her success.”

“How? You don’t expect me to tie her feet and hands, do you? Just think of something else, Rebecca. There is no much time left.” I huffed at her.

“Do you know any of her weaknesses?” Rebecca spoke in a very low tone this time.

My eyes widened in curiosity and amazement. “Her weaknesses? Why would I care about any of that? She’s just nothing but a party pooper.”

“Her weakness is the only thing that will help us get back at the omega girl trying to get your man from you.” She snapped.

“Well, I heard she’s night blind and hates the dark. That’s not much of information though, but I really need to stop that girl from making it to my engagement party. Bestie, what if Jordan suddenly changes his mind and abandon me on our engagement night? How will I face the public? That’s like making a caricature of our pack.” I cried out helplessly.

Rebecca patted my hair with confidence. “That’s not going to happen. Look, since she’s night blind. Why don’t we give her the biggest scare of her life?”

“Scare of her life?” I raised my brows, confused. After a few seconds of staring at her, I burst into laughter. “You’re so evil, Becca. But I love it.” We shared a laugh.

DAPHNE

I walked out of the bathroom with a towel tied around my chest, and my hair dripping wet.

The thought of the Alpha’s engagement party was still throwing me off my feet. I mean, he just took care of me last night in his chambers, didn’t he? Does that mean that he was joking around with me?

Heaving a sigh, I sat on the bed, running my hands into my hair. Then, I suddenly sighted a piece of paper left on the lamp table beside the bed.

My eyes grew with curiosity as I reached for the paper, and unwrapped it. It was a note, and the sender was identified as “J”.

Could it be Alpha Jordan?

Hesitantly, I read the note. “Daphne, let’s meet at the pack’s storeroom at 6:30pm.”

“What? Does the Alpha want to see me before his engagement party at 7pm? But why?” I thought out loud.

I glanced at the wall clock and discovered it was 6pm already. Convinced that the letter must be from Alpha Jordan, and without giving it any other thought, I hurriedly dressed

up in my outfit, and packed my hair into a bun before leaving.

In a few minutes, I was already at the storeroom. The door wasn’t locked, so the moment I twisted the doorknob, the door threw open.

“Jordan? Jordan??” I called as soon as I stepped into the room, scanning around it.

Immediately, the lights went off, and the doors slammed shut. My worst fear slapped me hard on the face.

Darkness!

Chapter 22

DAPHNE

The fear came back almost immediately. The more I kept staring around the dark room, the more my fear increased.

“Jordan! Jordan!!” I called out while trying to walk out of the room, but I couldn’t see that there was a table in front of me, so I stumbled on the table and fell hard on the ground.

I was night blind, and I was unable to see a thing. The thought of the incident that led to my mother’s death flashed back into my memory. At this point, I was gasping for breath so hard. The door was already locked, and I could hear loud music being played outside the mansion. So, there was no way anyone could hear me screaming.

Did the Alpha lure me into this dark room to get locked up? Why would he do that? I know that I’m just his bought breeder, but why would he do such a cruel thing to me? Bringing me into my biggest fear, darkness? That was more than punishment for me. It felt like death itself.

I was still lying on the ground, and my knee bleeding profusely from the fall earlier. The fear was getting worse, and I was slowly losing my breath.

Meanwhile, outside the party hall, Rebecca walked closer to where Eleanor was seated, as she was the star of the show tonight.

“Have you done it?” Eleanor asked with anxiety written boldly on her face.

Rebecca smiled maliciously at her. “Trust me, she’s definitely not going to be a problem to you tonight. Who would even go close to the storeroom when there’s a glamorous party to attend?”

“Thank you so much, Becca. At least, there will be no one to make Jordan change his mind.” Eleanor winked at her.

Rebecca continued. “And she won’t be able to last for too long. I can assure you of that. I mean, she won’t be able to scream for help.”

Eleanor’s eyes raised, puzzled. “What do you mean by that? Don’t tell me that you tied her up or something.”

“Nah… Why would I let her know that we have a hand in what happened to her? Before she came into the room, I lighted an incense lamp in the store room. She’ll definitely get drowsy and pass out.” Rebecca explained.

Smiles filled Eleanor’s face. Her excitement knew no bound. “Good job, girl. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”

At this point, I was not just scared, I was already getting drowsy. The smell of the lighted incense at the other corner of the room had already filled the whole room. The smell was so strong and intoxicating. Even though I tried my best to reach the door, I just couldn’t because of my night blindness.

In a few seconds, I was already passing out from the intoxicating smell of the incense. Not

able to hold on, I passed out.

Rebecca, who returned after a few minutes, quickly unlocked the storeroom that she had locked earlier. But she still shut the door.

“Let’s see how you’ll be a problem to my friend tonight.” She smirked before walking away.

The celebration started, but Jordan wasn’t comfortable. He kept looking around to see if he will catch a glimpse of me, but surprisingly, there was no sight of me.

“Theo, do you think Daphne is so mad at me?” He tapped Theo, and whispered with his eyes still scanning around the party hall.

Theo furrowed his eyebrows. “What? Why do you think so? Did she tell you that?”

“No, she didn’t. I think she didn’t even bother attending this party even after receiving the invitation. You know I don’t blame her.” Jordan spoke with sadness.

“She didn’t come? But Madam Dorothy told me earlier that she was getting ready for the party. Why didn’t she come? Could it be that she got angry and decided not to come?” Theodore asked with narrowed eyes.

Jordan got restless. “Go ahead, ask Madam Dorothy about her. I need to know why she didn’t come for the party. I mean, I know she might not want to come, but I just can’t help but feel uneasy.”

Theo went ahead to meet with Madam Dorothy. Coincidentally, they were both looking for me.

“I haven’t seen her since we last spoke. Told me she was coming for the party and I left her when she was getting ready. But I didn’t see her anywhere in the party, so I decided to go back and look for her. However, I haven’t gotten a glimpse of her since the party started.” Madam Dorothy lamented.

“What? You, too, haven’t seen her? The alpha is becoming worried, and he feels that there is something wrong with her.” Theo replied.

Madam Dorothy was already panicking. “I think we have to find her. I’ve searched for her in her room, but she isn’t there.”

“I’ll let Alpha know.” Theodore said before walking to Alpha Jordan. But he was having a conversation with one of the Alphas who attended the party, so he had to wait for a few minutes before approaching Jordan.

“Did you see her?” Jordan asked, almost immediately the Alpha walked away.

Theodore shook his head. “No, Jordan. In fact, Madam Dorothy is looking for her too.”

Jordan’s eyes grew in astonishment. His uneasiness seemed to have increased, so he was finding it difficult to get a hold of himself. “What? Let’s go…”

“Jordan? Where are you going? The party has just started, and you’re leaving.” Eleanor, who had noticed Jordan’s discomfort, held his hand.

Forcing a smile at her, he said. “Uhm… I’ll be right back, I have something to take care of.”

“Jordan, are you kidding me? Theodore is here to take care of whatever it is that you need to be taken care of. Look, Alpha Khalid wants to speak with us.” Eleanor snapped.

“I will speak with him when I’m back. You don’t tell me when to stay and when to leave.” Jordan’s voice explicated aura and annoyance.

Without further convincing, Alpha Jordan walked away, while Eleanor fumed in annoyance.

“What exactly does that girl have that I don’t? Ev

en in our absence, you just can’t bear staying apart from her.” Eleanor thought with her fist tightly clenched.

Chapter 23

DAPHNE

“God dammit! She can’t be missing right under our noses.”

The cold, but domineering voice of Alpha Jordan was filled with annoyance as the last batch of security guards, sent to search for me, came back with the same story of not being able to find me.

He was boiling with rage. “The CCTV footage shows that she left her room, dressed in the party outfit. But why isn’t she present at the party?”

They all went silent, and that seemed to anger him the more. “You must find my breeder. She didn’t leave the pack house, so she’s in here somewhere.”

“Yes, Alpha.” They chorused before walking out of Alpha Jordan’s office.

The party was still ongoing, but his absence was already getting obvious. The guests couldn’t help but murmur among each other why the celebrant would leave his engagement party.

Eleanor couldn’t face the shame. She could see the questioning look on the faces of the guests. In fact, her father, who had already gotten tired of the murmurs and side talks he was hearing, approached her.

“Eleanor, what’s going on? Where’s your fiancé? Why isn’t he here? People are starting to talk…” Alpha Gregory asked anxiously.

Sniffing hard, and avoiding looking at her furious father, Eleanor bowed her head. “Father, he went to check on something.”

“What? And that thing is more important than his engagement with you? I have a reputation to protect.” Alpha Gregory snorted.

Eleanor clenched her fist. The thought that the urgent thing Jordan went out to attend to is me, made her so irritated. “I know, Dad. I can see the way people are looking at me. I don't understand why he left, but he just told me he had something critical to take care of. Maybe we should let him.”

“I don’t get you, Eleanor. Are you sure you really want to settle for this? I know Jordan and his pack are powerful in all of York city, and your marriage to him can assure the future and safety of our pack, but he shouldn’t be allowed to disrespect you like this.” Alpha Gregory frowned.

Swiftly, Eleanor stared around to make sure no one was hearing their conversation or looking at them. With a false smile, she replied. “Dad, let’s not talk about this. People are already looking at us. Do you want them to find out that Jordan left for something else instead of our engagement party.”

“Suit yourself.” Alpha Gregory huffed at her before walking away.

“I hate you, Daphne. I just hope that you’ll never be found or that when you’re found, you’d already be as good as death.” She spoke in between gritted teeth.

“Hey, girl. What’s going on? Where’s Jordan?” Rebecca’s loud, cheerful voice drew her attention to turn back.

Eleanor tried hard to hold on a little, but she broke down when one of the guests tapped her and asked. “What the heck is going on, Eleanor? Where’s Alpha Jordan? Is he calling off the engagement?”

Rebecca’s eyes grew with anger. “What do you mean by that? Isn’t it obvious that the party is still on?”

“Is it?” The guest mocked. “Well, it doesn’t look on to me because how come the soon-to-be groom isn’t present for the party?”

Staring around, searching for Jordan, Rebecca’s jaw dropped. Actually, she had left the party when she got a call from her boyfriend. So, she was unaware of the development.

“Poor you, Eleanor. I mean, it must be really painful for your fiancé to leave you all alone in your engagement party.” The guest ridiculed her before walking away.

“How dare you…?” Rebecca tried to drag her hair, but Eleanor held her back.

Rebecca stared at her with arched eyebrows. “Are you honestly going to let that thing go after insulting you? When did you become so tolerant? Why don’t you let me hit her hard on the nose?”

“Of what use is that, Becca? My father’s reputation is at stake here. Even in that breeder girl’s absence, Jordan still chose her over our engagement party. I mean, why did he even propose when he still can’t take his mind off that Daphne girl?” Eleanor’s eyes watered.

Fuming, Rebecca paced around. “Why don’t you let me confront that, Jordan? Girl, I know you love him, but he doesn’t feel the same for you. Are you really going to tolerate all of this?”

“Jordan is mine, Rebecca. I can’t let that girl take him away from me. I have to fight for my man. She’s just a mere breeder, and she’s worth nothing. It’ll be such a shame for me to let that lowlife omega take Jordan away from me.” Eleanor sniffed hard, wiping off her tears.

However, the search was still ongoing. Alpha Jordan wasn’t left out of those searching for me. In fact, he had been searching all the nooks and crannies of the Red moon pack house.

He walked down the hallway leading to the storage room while Beta Theodore followed him persistently.

“Jordan, what makes you think she’d come to this basement?” Theodore scoffed in disbelief.

“You never can tell. She might…” Jordan paused when he stepped on something at the entrance of the storage room. He bent over and picked it up. It was an earring.

His eyes grew in curiosity and surprise. “An earring? What could an earring be doing in the basement?”

“Maybe someone dropped it.” Theodore casually replied.

“Mm… Do you perceive that?” Alpha Jordan asked with widened eyes, and Theodore shrugged.

“I think it’s coming from the storage room. The incense appears to be strong.” Jordan continued.

Without hesitation, he quickly grabbed the knob of the door, and the door threw open immediately.

The room was smoky, so him and Theodore coughed slightly as they entered the storage room. It was dark, and that got them wondering why. Jordan reached out for the light switch, and turned it on.

They stared around the empty, smoky room. “Daphne! Daphne!!” He called, but got no response.

“I told you, Alpha. No one is here. Let’s leave.” Theodore said.

Hesitantly, Jordan turned to leave, but something stopped him. He caught the sight of a pair of shoes at the other corner. So, he walked closer, and to his greatest surprise, he saw me lying lifelessly at the other end.

“Daphne?”
