A Devil's Deal To Ruin My Ex-husband - Chapter 39

Chapter 39

What's she doing here? How did she know she was there?

Eloise furrowed her brow as she wondered. She felt a pang in her chest as she looked at her smiling, her fist clenching as if wanting to destroy her every reason to smile.

“ She's here,” Laera said smiling, causing Eloise to look at her,

“ Did you know she'd be here?” She asked her,

“ Not really, but I told her you work here, she said she's been unable to reach you,” Laera replied, “ I'll go get the trouser, you two should catch up.”

With that, Laera waved at Tamara before walking away.

Eloise bit the inside of her lower lip, her eyes looking away from Tamara as her legs battled for freedom to move. She heard some hastened steps and the next minute, Tamara was wrapping her arms around her shoulder, pulling her into a tight hug. Eloise's body tensed, like a snake coiling around her.

“ Elly,” She called softly, “ I was so worried about you.”

The genuineness in her voice made Eloise scoff, and she slowly clenched her fist. Tamara broke the hug, but her hand was still holding her shoulder. With her face drawn tight with worry, she looked over at Eloise's face,

“ You look so lean, are you okay?”

“Hm,” Eloise sounded but her dry throat made it almost impossible for Tamara to hear,

“ I heard about everything that happened,” she dropped her hand from her shoulder, “ and I felt annoyed,” she frowned, “ something like that happened and you couldn't even call me, you've been off the hook for days now, do you know how worried I was. And I felt insignificant to you when I had to learnt that you're now working for somebody else.”

Tamara folded her arms against her big breast, her face squeezed in displeasure as she waited for her apology that never came.

“ Let's go get a coffee,” was all Eloise said as she began to walk away.

Tamara scoffed and eyed her retreating back.

‘ That arrogant bitch, too big to say she's sorry, huh?’

Eloise heard her hurried steps and soon she was walking beside her. Eloise pulled away immediately she tried locking her arms with her. She couldn't bear another physical contact with her, it not only feels like thorns against her skin, but also disgusts her soul.

They arrived at her cafe where they took their seat, and while Tamara ordered an iced Americano, Eloise got herself a sweet coffee with enough milk and sugar, just like she loves it.

“ So fill me in, what has been going on with you?” Tamara asked as they settled down. Curious about what she's been up to, what she's been doing except making her and Mason worry.

Eloise felt her heart racing and skipping, accompanied by aches and heavy words that she didn't know how to let out. She balled her fist, trying to control the tears that threatened to brim.

The question she wanted to ask that night, the questions she wanted to ask since that night, now felt too heavy to be let out.

‘ Does she deserve to give an explanation? Does she deserve to be given a chance to explain?’ Eloise asked in her mind and shook her head, intense anger brewed inside of her, ‘ She doesn't deserve it.’

She remembered all she said that night, about the way she acts all high and mighty, how she turns men down, how she liked Mason first.

“ What have I ever done to you, that you feel like you can never forgive me for?” Eloise asked staring blankly at her untouched coffee.

“ Hm?” Tamara furrowed her brow. She wasn't expecting such question, “ hmm….,” she thought hard, “ Nothing, you've never done something so unforgivable to me, you're such a sweet soul,” she smiled at her, one too controlled, “ you just can be so annoying sometimes, like how you didn't tell me about your new job and going off radar.”

Eloise’s heart sank, “ Nothing? Nothing unforgivable?”

“ Nope,” she shook her head.

‘ Yet you did the most unforgivable thing to me,’ Eloise said in her mind, her nails dug deeper into her palm, and she felt a sting of pain.

“ Do you like Mason?” she asked,

“ What?!” Taken aback, Tamara tilted back in shock. Her heart began to race, and her palms began to feel sweaty. “ What kind of question is that?”

“ Answer me, do you like Mason?”

“ Elly, what's wrong with you? What's with all these questions?” Tamara shifted in her seat, her gaze wandering over Eloise.

Eloise chuckled wryly, “ Do you?”

“ Of course not, Mason is your husband, why would I have feelings for your husband?”

“ I didn't say you have feelings for him,” a dangerous smirk tugged at Eloise's lips as she looked at her, “ I asked you if you like him, enough to let me marry someone like that,”

“ Oh,” her mind eased, she blinked in relief and quickly took a sip of her drink, “ Are these because of what happened between you two?” she asked but added before Eloise would reply,

“ You're mistaken, Elly, Mason isn't that type of person. The panties were totally a misunderstanding from your side, it doesn't belong to someone else, it was your own, Eloise.”

Eloise’s heart skipped. They found out.

“ How did you know that? Are you saying I don't recognize my own underwear?”

“ I don't know, I don't know how come you didn't recognize it, but I guess, it's because of all this marriage pressure and grandfather's illness, but the panties are for you, we found the other pairs in your closet.”

‘ Of course you do,’ Eloise eyed her in her mind,

“ So you owe Mason an apology, give him a call, he's been restless since your disappearance. And what you did really affected his image at work, you shouldn't do that to someone who loves you so much, it makes you an ingrate.”

Eloise smiled inwardly. At least that was good news. Just like she'd wanted, his reputation was on a thin line.

“ You seem really worried for him, I guess you guys are that fond of each other,”

“ He's your husband, and you're my best friend, I was worried about him as much as I worry about you. And also, you should stop working now, I know you're doing it to rebel for what you thought he did, but working for your rival is really demeaning, even for you.”

Eloise chuckled. Her clenched palm released and she let out a long exhale.

It was gone now. The thoughts of wanting to know why she did that to her, why she ruined her life, lied to her, cheated with her husband, and made her raise her baby. The thought of just why she stabbed her that much in the back while she puts on the most innocent smile.

It was all gone now. All that is left is rage, intense fury to make Tamara feel every ounce of the pain, to make her everything crumble to ashes, and let her world fall to nothing.

She wanted to tell her that her mask had fallen, and she could now see through her pretense.

“ I promise you, Tamara, I would pay you back in thousand folds,” She said with an evil smile, one that is ready to destroy her everything.

Tamara grinned, feeling Eloise was being grateful towards her, “ You know, you should come over tomorrow, Mum won't stop asking you, she said she'd prepare a very good soup for you,”

“ I don't want,”

“ Huh?”

“ Her soup tastes horrible,”

“ Eh?!.”

Eloise giggled and pushed her playfully by the shoulder, “ Just kidding.”

Tamara's brow furrowed with utmost confusion, anger, and shock.

How dare she say that about her mother's food?

But…Eloise would never say that about her mother, she respects her too much to do that…but…she looked damn serious when she say that…

She looked back at Eloise, and there was something about the way she smiled at her that made her heart race.

Chapter 40

“You shouldn’t wait there till she gets out. What if she gets off work late?" Mrs. Trumpour said over the phone,

“ No, Mum, she could get off work at any time, I really must know where she's been staying all this time,” Tamara replied. She couldn't help but be curious about where Eloise has been apart from being at work.

Mason had searched for her everywhere he knew she could be but she was nowhere to be found.

“ Come home once you find out,” Mrs. Trumpour said,

“ Sure,”

“ Alright, bye,” and with that, she hung up.

Sighing, Mrs. Trumpour sank deeper into the sofa, displeased with how stressed Tamara was getting over Eloise. It felt familiar, too familiar.

She shut her eyes and her mind fell on the image of Camila, Eloise’s mother. Eloise was a replica of her mother, with similar emerald eyes, black shiny hair, flawless skin, and a curvy figure that turns heads. If it were beauty, Camila has it all; if it were intelligence, she's got a degree in that. She was a perfect package.

But she has it too all, as if wanting nothing left for others. Beauty, wealth, and one thing that could've been for her, she took it also. Love.

Dayse had been her best friend back in college, the other half of “beauty with brains.” But deep down, Dayse always knew—Camila was the reason people noticed them. She’d drawn the spotlight.

Mrs. Trumpour remembered how much envy she tried to bury deep inside of her then, until she fell in love at first sight. But as always, it was Camilla who caught his attention, whom he fell in love with.

She tried to live by it, the quenching heart every time she sees them being all lovey dovey, the aches she felt in her chest when they eventually got married and had Eloise. Dayse also got married, but she never had luck, while Camila was having a blissful marriage with the love of her life. She, on the other hand, was barely getting attention from her cheating husband who divorced her to go be with his mistress.

Dayse clenched her fist as she remembered, ‘ She always has it all. Perfect family, perfect marriage, perfect love ‘

It was all supposed to be hers, those merry giggles, those gifts, those sweet texts were all supposed to be hers. But she took it all away.

And now her daughter wants to do the same thing. Dayse felt history repeating itself when Eloise was in love with the same man her daughter loves. But this time, she was ready to do everything not to let it repeat itself.

Dayse remembered her thoughts when Tamara told her the initial intention of Mason, how much Mason wanted to be with her, and also to take everything the Stewart family had.

‘ This is redemption, the opportunity presented by God to get back everything that was supposed to be mine,’ Dayse, who's now Mrs. Trumpour, had thought to herself then.

But when Eloise's parents wouldn't let her get married to Mason, and she knew failure in that would result in her losing everything again. Dayse knew- she had to remove the obstacle.

Murder.

The word tugged at her chest, and her eyes flew open, her heart racing.

“ This better be the last time he calls for money,” she muttered, thinking of Michael. “If he calls again, I might have to take him out too.”

She shook her head. That wasn't totally a good idea, it would mean involving someone else. A risk.

“ Ugh!,” she groaned and stood up, heading towards the kitchen.

*****

The car hummed softly beneath them, the drive heavy with thick silence, one Eloise enjoyed and appreciated, not ready for it to be broken anytime soon.

One of Antonio's hands grabbed the wheel while the other hand rested idly against the window side. The two had refused to speak to each other since that morning, unless it was necessary.

With his face unreadable, his lips pressed into a thin line, Antonio takes quick glances over at her, his mind occupied, words hovering uselessly in the back of his throat, weighed down by uncertainty.

‘ Did she eat anything at all today?’ he wondered as he took another glance at her. He saw her staring ahead on the road like she was watching something she couldn't take her eyes off. She didn't speak, nor move, except for the occasional blink and the soft breath.

Antonio grabbed his phone with the other hand, typed some things, and dropped it after a few seconds.

Antonio's gaze focused back on the road, unable to take the image of her from that night off his mind. His fist tightened around the wheel when he remembered the sound of her whimpers, the way she shivered and cried.

There was something about it that he couldn't toss away.

‘ What had happened to her? What fear is she hiding behind those cold gazes, for her night to be tormented like that?’

He knew for sure there had to be a reason for that kind of nightmare. Was it trauma? Fear? Or Guilt?

He exhaled, feeling like there's a lot he doesn't know about the lady beside him, there are layers to who Eloise Stewart is, and he wants to see every bit of them. But not just out of curiosity.

He felt his forehead wrinkling a little, a strange mix of coldness and warmth settled in his chest—was it anger? Pity? Or worry?

Tire screeches. The car came to an abrupt stop. Eloise gasped and her breath shook.

Antonio looked at her to see if she was okay before looking at who he had almost run over.

“ OMG!” Eloise exclaimed in worry when she saw that what they almost hit was a person and not an animal. “ Is he hurt?”

She asked and made to get out of the car to go check him when Antonio grabbed her wrist, stopping her.

She looked at him with a furrowed brow.

‘ Why is he stopping me?’ she asked in her mind, expecting him to be worried as much as she was, but his gaze was. Cold and unyielding, dark and distant like he doesn't give a damn about humanity or anyone's life.

‘ Don't tell me…’ She tried to convince herself. No matter how cold, aloof, and infuriating one could be, they can't be that heartless, right?

The person they almost hit was an elderly man, if not older than his grandmother, in fact, and he was having a hard time getting on his feet.

But to Eloise's surprise, Antonio pressed the ignition button. Her eyes widened, and her jaw dropped as he drove past the man, without blinking twice.

“ Monster,” she muttered under her breath as she looked at him in disbelief.

Antonio glanced at the man through the side mirror and saw him looking at his vehicle before grabbing his phone once again.

Chapter 41

“ I can't believe you. How could you do that!?,” Eloise yelled at him,

“ Do what?” he asked plainly, like he had no idea what she was talking about.

Eloise scoffed, she could feel her blood boiling hot inside her veins.

“ You nearly hit someone!” she shouted, pointing to the back as if the man was behind them.

He didn't reply immediately, rather, he swirled the wheel, changing direction.

“ So now you can speak?” he asked coolly, “Haven't you been giving me cold shoulders?”

“ Since when have I ever given you warm shoulders?”

“ Fair,” he muttered, “ But don't you think you owe me an apology?”

Holly! Molly!

Eloise threw herself back on the seat, clenching her fist so hard as she screamed internally. She felt pushed to the edge of losing her cool.

‘How can someone be this infuriating!’

She screamed in her mind, grunting out loud. Every hair on her body couldn't stand another second with him.

“ You left a man there and you're concerned about me not apologizing?!,” she let out the loud, angry words, “ Apologize for what?”

She expected feedback, an explanation for why he did that, but rather, he remained stoic, not saying a word, not removing his eyes from the road. Eloise prayed for intense self-control as she fought back the urge to hit him, and it seemed as if it was answered. He pulled over.

Eloise exhaled deeply, trying to calm herself as she glanced out of the window. Wait! What?!

A veterinary hospital?

Her lips parted in surprise and her deep furrowed brow released in surprise. She'd never in her lifetime guessed Antonio to be an animal guy.

If at all he wants to get a pet, she's damn certain it was either going to be a panther, or a tiger. And this small hospital doesn't look like one to keep those.

“ Stay here,” was all he said before stepping out of the car.

Eloise eyed him, her furrowed brow returning, “ Who does he think he is? You don't tell me what to do and not do,” she fumed and got out of the car, her gaze fixed on the brightly lit hospital where she could see him through the transparent glass.

The longer she stares, the deeper her brow furrows. And for the second time in a night, Eloise let out another disbelief scoff, one that held a huge anger.

A blushing nurse approached Antonio, recognizing him at first glance, his handsomeness and features ain't something to be easily forgotten about, and the nurses at the hospital all nearly anticipated his next appearance.

“ Hi Mr. Antonio,” the nurse greeted, “ You came for the cat?” She asked smiling.

Antonio glanced away from her to look at the cats in the cages at the counter when his gaze locked on the one meowing, trying to climb out of the cage upon seeing him. He recognized it and a tiny smile that was almost invisible tugged at his lip.

He was about to speak when a bobbly voice cooed beside him.

“ Oh my God! It's you!”

Antonio turned to look at her, “ Brenda?”

She giggled excitedly, “ I almost thought I'd never see you again,” she said as she felt her heart beating faster.

Her eyes brimmed with joyful tears, she threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around him, giving him the feeling of her big, plump breast against his chest.

Unaware of the scoffs and scowl expression he was getting from the lady outside, he was also getting frowns from the nurses who eyed Brenda, jealously.

Antonio untangled her arms from around him and stepped back.

“ You came for?” He asked looking from her neatly combed blonde hair to her pretty face.

Brenda was such an endowed lady, thick and curvy, blonde and gorgeous, but Antonio's gaze held no interest.

“ I came for my cat,” she replied grinning,

“ Oh yes!” the nurse intercepted, “ she's the owner of the cat you brought,”

“ Wait, was he the one who found my cat?” Brenda asked, looking surprised.

“ Hm,” the nurse nodded.

Brenda exclaimed and her smile broadened. She wrapped her arms around his and looked at him with so much joy in her eyes.

“ What should we call this? Fate?” she smiled, loving how everything was falling in place, her genius plan was working out.

How could it not? This was her Antonio.

Her gaze fell on his lips.

Damn. She missed those soft, pink, skillful lips, and how they felt on her body.

She felt a rush run through her spine, and a tingling sensation between her legs. Just the thought of it still had so much effect on her.

She made to lean her breast against his arm, to remind him of what they felt like, but Antonio pulled his arms and stepped further away.

His eyes held no emotion or longing for her, as if she had never meant anything to him.

Her face dropped when she saw this, but it wasn't like she didn't expect it.

“ That's great then. The owner has found it,” he said and a nurse brought the cat to her.

She took it and giggled, but the cat wriggled in her arms, looking at Antonio with its big, adorable eyes as if wanting him to take her away from Brenda.

Antonio saw this, but he swallowed and looked away.

“ I should get going then, no longer have a business here,” he turned and made to leave when he heard a whimper from the cat.

He halted in his tracks and turned to see it now composed in her arms, it looked like it was in pain, and when he looked at Brenda, who was smiling sweetly at him. He shrugged and walked out of the vet.

He got back inside the car and without saying anything, he drove off.

“ That must be a nice meeting, huh?” he heard the sarcasm laced in her voice.

Antonio glanced at her.

‘Is she still upset?’ he asked in his mind.

“ What meeting?”

“ Oh, don't do that with me, I saw what you were doing back there, with that lady.”

Antonio furrowed his brow, looking totally clueless.

“ What was I doing?” he asked genuinely,

“ Should I be telling you about how you were flirting, hugging, and touching each other? I knew you weren't the animal guy, just wasn't expecting Vet to be the meeting point,” she eyed him in disgust.

Antonio sucked in his lower lip, biting his lip hard as he fought the urge to laugh.

“ So,” he began, unable to resist the smile nudging in, “ That makes you jealous?”

Eloise laughed at the absurd statement and pointed to herself, “ Me? Jealous? You wish,”

“ Then why do you sound so pissed,”

“ Because I am! I'm not jealous, I'm pissed at the disrespect.”

Antonio furrowed his brow in confusion, “ I disrespect you?”

“ You don't consider going against the rules disrespect? One of the rules says no romantic relations with other parties during the duration of the contract.”

Antonio stepped on the brake suddenly, stopping in the middle of the road and causing her to jerk forward a little.

She frowned and looked back to see if a car was approaching.

“ Why did you stop?” Her breath caught as she looked back at him to see him leaning close to her. Too close.

She tilted back as he was so close that his breath was fanning her face.

His eyes, dark and piercing, gaze into her eyes, more like into her soul, causing her heart to skip so hard.

“ What are you doing?”

“ I told you. I'm not the type to keep by rules,” his deep husky voice said, and she felt a rush run down her spine.

She gulped down and bit her lower lip.

“ What do you think you're doing?” she asked, and her heart rate picked up when his gaze fell on her lip and his lips slightly parted.

Chapter 42

Antonio stared into her captivating emerald eyes.

‘ Beautiful,’ he thought before his gaze fell on her lips and a soft exhale escaped his lips.

Pink, lush, and so inviting. His fingers ached to touch them, feel them against his thumb. But something aches for more. His lips. They ached for a taste, to know what they feel like.

He saw from her throat, her gulp, and he smiled.

“ Too bad, I'm not in the mood to break rules,” he muttered with a smirk.

Eloise returned with a similar smirk. She blinked her eyes softly and said, “Too bad, you ain't my type to break rules with.”

With that she pushed him off her and sat up, rolling her eyes and looking away from him.

Antonio grinned. A fast one that Eloise missed as she was looking away, and then, the car started moving again.

“ So you don't wanna break rules with me?”

“ You're not my type,”

“ Really? Why don't I believe that, I'm every woman's type.”

Eloise scoffed. She turned to him in disbelief, his overconfidence tugging at her and stirring her stomach.

“ Not me,” she shook her head with deep assurance, wanting to break that annoying confidence in him, “ you're nowhere near my type.”

“ Really?” Antonio smiled, placing his elbow against the window side and relaxing his head on his hand while the other held the wheel, “ Tell me, what about me isn't your type?”

He blinked his eyes softly, his eyes brightening like a little kid enjoying his time at the amusement park.

“ Everything,” Eloise said, “ Starting with your height, you're too tall for me, you make me strain my neck,”

“ I can squat or lean lower, and if you want-- I can lift you, sweetheart.”

‘ Don't call me that,’ she fumed in her mind.

“ I don't need that,” she eyed, “ And it's not only your height, you're likewise too cocky for my liking, and have I told you that you're so annoying? Oh gosh! I can barely stand you,"

“ I can become sweet. For you,” he said sweetly and softly glanced at her only to receive Eloise irritated glare,

“ Sweet isn't in your dictionary. Argh-You really are not my type. I love tender men, a gentleman, a sweet, caring, loving, handsome man. A man that's not cocky, annoying, irritating, or a flirt,” she eyed him.

“ Was that why you fell for Mason?”

“ Huh?”

“ Was that why you got deceived and manipulated, cause he was so sweet and gentle," he snorted, " You're so naive.”

Eloise's jaw dropped as she stared at him, her words hung in her throat, and her fingers curled into a tight fist on her lap.

‘ How dare you!’ She uttered in her mind and looked away, her lips pressed together, her lashes blinked more than twice and she felt a stab of pain in her chest.

A part of her hated how true that was. How that was part of what made her fall in love with Mason's deceit.

Antonio noticed she had gone silent and glanced at her. The expression on her face, her clenched fist, and when she glared out of the window told Antonio what he needed to know.

His fist tightened against the wheel.

“ Fuck.”

He cursed under his breath.

He shouldn't have said that.

Not knowing what to say to her, he kept his lips sealed and the rest of the drive home was thick with suffocating silence.

The two of them got out of the car after they arrived home. Eloise slammed the car door so hard as if intending to break the car before storming into the house.

Antonio swallowed, stood as he watched her leave before exhaling and grabbed his phone from his pocket, and dialed the person whose name is saved as ‘ The ghost. His personal agent.

“ Boss,” his rough voice came in as he picked up the first ring.

“ Did you check it out?” Antonio asked,

“ Yes sir, as you've suspected, he's not an elderly man,” The ghost confirmed.

Antonio scoffed through his nose. The man he nearly hit earlier, he had noticed the same old man lurking around his company earlier that day, he saw him leap, and when he glanced at him again, he saw some inconsistency in his walk. And then again, he nearly ran him over.

Something was off, he knew it. And Antonio isn't the type to believe in coincidence.

“ Anything else you find out?” He asked. He had messaged his private agent the moment he drove off to look into the man,

“ Yes, he's currently meeting with your uncle, Mr. Shawn.”

Antonio smirked upon hearing that.

“ Get him,” he ordered and hung up.

‘ What are you up to?’ he asked in his mind and went inside.

After taking a shower and changing into a grey pants and a cream T-shirt, he heard the sound of the door button pressed. Knowing what it was, he went to grab the delivered food he ordered after wondering if Eloise had eaten.

Antonio took out the different packaged food from the shelves below, looking up, towards Eloise’s room.

‘ She's clearly pissed’ He thought, thinking of how to call her that food is here.

He picked up his phone and typed.

“ Food is here. Don't starve yourself"

Then sent it to her.

Eloise was about to cover herself with the duvet when she received his text message. She swiped up her phone and read it, then hissed with a deep frown before tossing the phone to the side table and covering herself with the duvet. Then went to sleep.

********

(2:00am)

Antonio clicked on the ‘enter’ button on the laptop before closing it. He stood up and stretched his body then proceeded towards the bed. He was about to lie down and he paused.

‘ Could she…be dreaming again?’ he thought and stepped away from the bed.

He walked out of the room and went to check on her. He saw from the slightly opened door, her body jerking under the cover, sweat trickling down her face.

She was having a nightmare. Again.

Antonio felt a tug against his chest and he quickly stepped inside the room. The darkness and coldness from his gaze had vanished, now replaced with a soft one. He hopped on the bed beside her, without hesitating, he pulled her into his strong, protective arms, held her tight, and continuously stroked her hair while he whispered comforting words to her.

He closed his eyes as he whispered the words, the sound of her whimpers tearing through his chest, causing his heart to sink and his teeth to grit.

“ There's a limit to how one should be tormented,” he mumbled not caring about what the dream is about. It has no goddamn right to be doing this to her.

Antonio kissed her head as he wrapped his arms around her, stroking her hair and letting her bury her head in his chest. Soon, the whimpers stopped, the tremors and jerking all ceased, and slowly she fell back asleep. But before Antonio drifted along with her, he felt like he had made one more enemy, one he needed power to destroy.

Her nightmare.

Chapter 43

The sky outside was beginning to pale with the first hint of dawn when Antonio stirred. Blinking the sleep from his eyes, he looked down at the woman nestled against him. She was sleeping peacefully, her breathing even and soft, like a child in the arms of safety.

A faint smile tugged at his lips. Her skin felt like silk beneath his palm, her slender frame curling instinctively into him. She looked so innocent like this—serene, untouched by pain.

Yet, he remembered her tears, cries, the storm of hurt hidden behind those fierce eyes. And something twisted inside him—a need, fierce and unfamiliar, to protect her.

Antonio followed the instinct of his fingers that brushed the strands of her hair off her face.

She looks so beautiful, so peaceful—soft, like an angel in slumber, like one who never gets upset. His smile broadened upon remembering her angry, cute faces, but his face dropped when he also recollected the pains, the fears on her face, and her cries.

It was strange, it was unexpected, but he recognized it, the intense feeling to protect her, to shield her from everything and anything that could cause her pain.

He exhaled, not knowing why he felt that way, but he'd never wanted to protect anything as much as he wanted to protect her.

‘ I should leave,’ he thought in his mind, knowing fully well it would be an uproar if she woke up and found him in her bed. But the thought of how angry her face will be and her yells made him smile.

He started to pull away gently, but she snuggled closer, wrapping her arms around him, placing her thigh on his groin.

Antonio froze.

A rush ran through his veins.

He blinked his eyes more than twice. He didn't freeze because he was afraid she'd wake up, he froze because of the feeling of her boobs.

He slowly looked down to see her sleeping deeply, but her small nightwear did him no good. The tiny hand was down, exposing a huge part of her breast, except for her nipple.

‘ Fuck’ he cursed in his mind. They looked big enough not to fit his palm.

‘ Stop!,’ he scolded himself inwardly, ‘ stop thinking about how they'll fit your Palm'

The more he scolded himself, the wilder his mind ran. His lips kissing her breast, his tongue flickering at her nipples, his teeth biting and sucking them.

‘ Argh’ he groaned softly.

Still trying not to wake her, even as her innocent movements stirred something reckless in him. He began to feel more of her soft skin and his mind couldn't help but think of touching her, his palm inching to grab and grope her soft body, wondering how soft her whole body is.

‘ Fuck, Antonio, ‘ he rebuked himself.

“ This is dangerous,” he mumbled, feeling the urgency to get out. Fast.

He slowly grabbed her leg to push it off his hardened rod when he felt her naked thigh. Her night gown seems to have bunched up to her buttocks.

Antonio fights to keep his hands from trailing up or giving her thigh a squeeze. He shut his eyes tight and swallowed hard.

Slowly and cautiously, he pushed her off and immediately got out of bed. Panting slightly as if he had just fought a battle.

He couldn't glance at her, afraid of another temptation. He quickly stood up and toed out of the room, right into a bathroom, and let a long, cold shower hit his spine.

********

Hours later, Eloise stirred awake, stretching and yawning on the bed before letting her body go loose. Her body feels great, strengthened. Her mind— clear. No fear, no panic, no anxiety.

Her night—— peaceful, long, and nightmare-free.

A big smile appeared on her face as she thought to herself. Her mood brightened like someone who had finally had a nice bed rest for a long time.

“ I slept well, I slept very well,” she giggled, burying her face into the bed as happiness crept through her veins.

Her joy bloomed, her mind eased in freedom. But slowly, her giggles stopped and she sat up. A little wrinkle crept onto her forehead, her eyes, still a little bit groggy.

“ I slept well?” she muttered to herself, “ Is it over? Or what?”

Surprised and confused, she asked herself with the hope that she was right.

She couldn't remember having a dream. She had slept long and peacefully without bolting up in the middle of the night with cold sweats. She looked at the two sides of the bed.

She was alone.

“ He's not here, I did not sleep peacefully because of him,” she said, realizing.

Maybe her sleeping well that night with Antonio was just a coincidence. He's not here this time and she also slept really well.

“ I must have been mistaken.” She said to herself and exhaled deeply. Not knowing whether to be relieved or not, not sure if the nightmares are coming to an end. But at least she was clear now, that she didn't sleep well because of Antonio.
