Chapter 14
“ What's this? Why would I be your assistant?” she flared, glaring murderously at him.
Antonio leaned in, his voice calm and precise, “You want revenge? Have you even considered how?”
She furrowed her brow, “ what do you mean?”
“ To get your company back, you'll need more than anger,” he began, “ You'll need to prove to the board that you’re still a force in this industry, you're still capable, running deep and fast and enough for them to want you back, how would you do that? By sleeping and waking up at home?”
He leaned back, “ Being my assistant is part of the plan. Not for me but for you, you'll need a strategy your husband didn't see coming. We hit him where it hurts; a public betrayal, media frenzy, spooked investors. We make his allies turn. We bleed him quietly, strategically, until he has nothing left. And while he's nursing up, we move, and I help you reclaim what’s yours”
Eloise's jaw dropped, she stared at him and her hands inches to applaud him but they remained still on the sheet.
‘ Why didn't I think of all that?’ she asked in her mind, and different plans cooked up inside her head, causing her to smirk devilishly.
He returned the smirk, staring back at her as they exchanged a devilish spark.
Then something flickered in her mind.
“ But how would I marry you when I'm still married to him,”
“Isn’t that simple?” he asked, “ You divorce him,”
Eloise sighed, “It's not that easy; I know Mason; at least, I thought I knew him. Judging from his plan, he won’t sign the divorce papers, not until he’s drained me dry,”
“ Don't worry,” his eyes gleamed as he said, “ I'll handle it,”
“ How?”
He blinked his lashes slowly, his smirk deepening, “ Trust me.”
Mason walked out of the company giggling and biting his lips. His face beamed like he'd won a lottery as he sent a text to Eloise.
‘ Hey baby, sorry, but there's a change of plan; I won't be able to make it to dinner due to some urgent business matter, but I promise to make it up to you. Always remember that I love you,’ he typed and added a love emoji before sending it to her.
“ Yes,” he mumbled smiling, and sent another message to a group chat.
‘ On my way,’ he sent the message before tucking his phone into his pocket and headed towards his car.
After a short drive, Mason arrived at a lounge; he alighted from his car before throwing the key to a valet, who caught it in the air and bowed slightly to him.
He replied his bow with a wink as he walked into the lounge. With the help of a concierge, he was led to a VIP room where others were waiting for him.
“Ohhh, see who's finally here,” an excited voice of a male colleague welcomed him the moment he stepped into the room.
Mason laughed as he exchanged pleasantries with the five men at the table before taking his seat. The table was already full of wines and meals of different kinds, but Mason's eyes quickly wandered to the gorgeous ladies sitting right by their sides.
“ The latest CEO in town,” a former coursemate from college hailed.
Mason giggled along with them, loving the recognition and the hails he was receiving.
“ Man, how did you do it?,” another college friend asked in awe, “ becoming the CEO of Penafort Cooperation, that's a lot of achievement,”
“ It's hard work,” he replied humbly,
“ Which hard work?” the college who welcomed him eyed him playfully, “ heard it's your wife who handed you the company,”
“ Damn, she must love you like crazy. I'm jealous of you, man, to have a woman give you something that huge; my wife gives me nothing but a headache.”
They burst into laughter as one of them said.
“ I'm thinking maybe I should have married into a rich family, perhaps marry the president's daughter so I can at least become a senator.”
Another roar of laughter followed as another colleague said.
“ Congratulations buddy.”
Mason smiled...
Chapter 15
"Mason, do you recognize Priscilia."
He looked at the lady he pointed at, and his face dropped; his smile dropped as well as he looked at his college crush. Though he was only crushing on her from a distance, he had no courage to approach her, and moreover, she was dating a popular guy then.
Priscilia was one of the most beautiful ladies in the business department then, rarely available and quite popular.
“ Hi,” she waved at him sweetly,
“ Hey, you good?” he asked, shifting in his seat and smiling at her.
She was nudged to go sit with him, which she didn't hesitate.
Mason cleared his throat as she sat beside him, filling his nose with the scent of her strong perfume.
“ Hi,” she said again, placing her hand on his lap and smiling sweetly at him.
‘ is this a dream? Priscilia, sitting right next to me and flirting with me,’ Mason giggled in his mind, his joy soaring to the sky, ‘Can today get any better.’
“ C'mon guys, play some music, let's party,” one of the men said, and they volume up the music and go into the party mood while Mason remains seated, having a conversation with her.
“ I've not really been doing anything, I'm in search of a job,” she said with a little bit of sadness laced in her voice,
“ What kind of job are you looking for?”
“ Content analyst, but I won't mind any job at this point as long as it pays my bills. Or…do you have any opening for me,” she said eyeing him seductively and rubbing his thigh with her palm.
Mason shook his head vigorously, getting aroused by her touch, her soft-spoken voice, and the way her body leaned on him.
There was no vacant position at the company, but his mind had begun to search for a position for her, and one popped up in his head.
“ There's no space for me?”
“ Of course, there is,” he said without thinking any further, “ there's one just for you,”
‘ I never liked Laera; she's a close ally of Eloise; getting rid of her won't be a bad idea,’ he said in his mind as his heart melted just by the smile of Priscilia.
“ Thank you so much, Mason; I'm very grateful,” she said and pecked him on the cheek.
Mason grinned, his happiness escalating with each passing second.
“ You're so generous,” she said sweetly, “ and I'd love to repay your kindness,”
“ Really?”
“ Hm,” she nodded and whispered into his ear, “How about you follow me to the restroom,”
“Sure,” he said too quickly, causing her to giggle.
Mason felt his rod hardening against his pants, and without saying anything to anyone, they both excused themselves to the restroom, where they devoured each other with no delay.
He delayed no second in groping every part of her he'd wanted to touch ever since she sat next to him. Eating up her lips like they were sweet candy, one he'd never tasted before, bunching her gown to the chest, giving him access to her big plumpy breast.
When he couldn't take it any longer, her moans driving his head nut, he turned her around and slammed her chest against the wall before pushing her panties down and zipping down his trouser.
In less than five seconds, he pushed himself deep inside her and let out a satisfactory groan.
“ Oh yes!” she moaned, “ fuck me harder, yes, like that, just like that.”
The slapping sound of their thighs, accompanied by Priscilia’s sweet moans and dirty talks, filled the restroom walls, and as a secret camera filmed his night of pleasure, the night became a night Mason would never forget.
Chapter 16
Three minutes had passed since he dropped Eloise off after signing the contract, yet he still hadn't started the car, his grey eyes staring at nobody but the hospital in front of him. His mind fixated on the image of Eloise in his mind, and his observation about it being the second night in a row that she'd be passing the night at the hospital, not going home.
He exhaled sharply and tilted his head back against the seat, eyes drifting away.
“Not like I’m worried,” he muttered. “So why the hell am I still here?”
Just then, his phone vibrated. He glanced at the screen, sighed, and answered.
“Hey, sweetheart,” a cheerful voice cooed through the speaker, sounding all bubbly.
Antonio sucked in a breath through his teeth, glaring at the name on the screen.
“Hey…,”
“Come over, sweetheart. You’re missing all the fun.”
Before he could respond, the line went dead. He stared at the screen for a beat, then shook his head with a sigh.
“What am I going to do about you…” he mumbled under his breath, finally turning the key in the ignition and driving off to their usual spot.
Moments later, Antonio strode through the room filled with loud pop music, the stench of alcohol, and sweat clinging to the air. He turned heads as he climbed up the stairs to the private floor with his cold aura, too dangerous to be ignored.
The ladies cooed delightfully as they sighted him upon getting to the floor. Like a Greek god ascending, his body is like power wrapped in elegance, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, bending the air as he walks. He’s the kind of beautiful that transcends gender, so magnetic, so flawless even a man might find himself watching too long with heart stuttering, and pride forgotten.
“ My sweetheart has finally arrived!” he was welcomed by the joyful tone of someone he had resisted strangling for years.
The ladies immediately began to adjust themselves, revealing their cleavages more, drawing their dresses up to reveal more of their thighs and lapping their legs.
They waved at him, all faces beaming, but he replied with a nod and went to sit right by his side.
“ These ladies won't give me peace of mind as they keep asking of you,”
“ Call me sweetheart one more time, and I'll deliver your head to your father in a designer box,” he threatened as he poured himself a drink.
Oliver clutched his chest in mock pain, “God, you’re such a romantic.”
He leaned closer to him and whispered, “But, I dare you, sweetheart,” and with that, he burst into laughter upon receiving a scary, murderous glare from Antonio.
One of the ladies volunteered to pour the drink for him but he shifted away without sparing her a glance.
“ You'd never have a best friend again once you kill me; I'll haunt you till thy kingdom comes,” Oliver said, chuckling.
Antonio let out a frustrated sigh before downing his liquor in a single gulp.
“ Hey buddy, what's up?” he heard Oliver ask as he placed the cup back on the table, “ is everything okay?.”
‘ if someone hears his low tone asking, they'll think he's a normal dude,’ Antonio said in his mind before turning to him.
“ I need to tell you something,” he said grabbing another glass cup of wine.
“ Sure,” Oliver nodded and quickly turned to the ladies,” hey ladies,” he clapped his hands,” Keep the party rolling! I need a moment with Romeo here,”
And with that, he followed Antonio to a quieter room, away from noise and eyes.
He noticed Antonio acting weird, and he wasn't showing any interest in any of the ladies which prompted him to ask if everything was okay. Antonio and Oliver, being best of friends since childhood and also business partners, working together at the same company, were two handsome individuals with completely different personalities.
While Antonio is cold and aloof, Oliver is the free, jovial guy, but when he needs to be cold and serious, one could deny he is the cheerful guy they knew.
“ What?!,” Oliver screamed, his eyes bulging out of the socket as Antonio just told him everything,“ what the fuck are you thinking, bro.”
Antonio picked his ear, looking everywhere but him.
“ Dude, if you need a wife, you can get that anywhere, all it would cost you is money, which, let’s be honest, means nothing to you,”
“ I know what I'm doing,”
“ Making your biggest rival your wife? And making her YOUR ASSISTANT TOO?!,”
“ Can you stop shouting?” he said coolly, taking a sip of his wine,
“ Don't tell me to stop shouting!” he exclaimed lowering his voice, “ that woman would set your suits on fire if she thought it'd hurt your stocks. You're insane, hot, rich, and completely out of your goddamn mind,”
With his jaw dropped, he fell back into his seat, looking at Antonio in disbelief.
After thinking for a few seconds, he glanced up at him,
“ This isn't just about marriage, is it?” he asked, looking at him, “ there's more to this; there's more to why you choose her.”
Unable to shake out the odd feeling, he knew Antonio more than anyone, and he knew he wouldn't do a thing without reason, which is something he couldn't wrap his head around at the moment.
“ Transcontinental Trade Corridor Project.”
Oliver sat up immediately, facing Antonio properly.
“ I thought we were giving that project up,”
“ We were,” Antonio muttered with a tiny smirk plastered on his face.
Oliver furrowed his brow, “Even with our futuristic proposal, we couldn't sign the deal, the terrain, the manpower, it’s not in our wheelhouse.”
Still wearing the smirk, without saying anything, he stared deeply back at Oliver whose lips slowly parted as he narrowed his gaze at him.
“ Don't tell me it's what I'm thinking.”
Antonio leaned in, “This is a project worth multi-billion dollars; as you said, we have an elegant, futuristic proposal, but what we're concerned about is the execution of ground operations.”
Oliver nodded as he listened.
“ What we need is infrastructure expertise,” Antonio added, “ and marrying the CEO of Penafort is marrying a strategic implementation partner.”
Oliver’s jaw dropped, his shoulder weakened, another wave of shock hitting him the second time in a night.
“ Does she know? That she's a compass on your map?” Oliver asked.
Antonio eyed him, “You think she'd agree if she knew? This project would lift Stratmore’s global ranking over hers, and she wouldn't trust us not to twist the knife after we climb.”
Oliver shut his eyes briefly, shaking his head in disapproval as he muttered,“ Antonio,”
“ Just marrying her without utilizing her strength is like a waste of assets,”
“ Have you thought of what she'd do if she found out?” Oliver asked frowning,
“ That's if she finds out,”
“ How will you make sure of that?”
“Trust me, this is exactly why I won’t introduce her to the project right away. She needs to believe it’s just a regular assignment that came in while she was at work.”
They stared at each other in the eyes for some seconds before Oliver averted his gaze, licking his lower lips briefly.
“ You're playing with fire. You better be sure of this, man,” Oliver said, “Because if she finds out…”
Antonio’s gaze turned steel-cold as he downed the last of his drink. He looked at Oliver, eyes unreadable.
“She won’t,” he repeated, “And when she does…”
He stood, set his glass down, and walked toward the door. Just before leaving, he turned his head slightly and said in a low voice,
“...she’ll be too far in to walk away.”
Chapter 17
Antonio's face creased in confusion; the morning had taken him completely off guard when Eloise suddenly gave him a call to come pick her up, sounding so urgent, only to arrive and be told to drive her to her company.
“ Do I look like your designated driver?” he'd asked her, his face deadpan as he'd thought she was in some kind of trouble.
Now seated in the car beside her, he parked in front of the company.
“ What are we doing here?” he asked, glancing at her tightly packed ponytail hair, the white shirt tucked into high-waisted jeans, and the moccasins that looked too formal for comfort tells she was up to something. She looked ready—for battle or self-destruction. He wasn’t sure which.
But she remained seated, her lips sealed, her hands clutching her bag tightly with her heart pounding as Antonio refused to unlock the car door.
‘ I can't tell him; what if I do and he stops me? He doesn't look like the type that'd allow anything to ruin his plan,’ Eloise said in her mind, knowing what she was about to do might hinder the plan they had against Mason.
‘ Fuck! If she's not the death of me, she'd be the death of my patience,’ Antonio fumed in his mind, getting impatient, ‘ it isn't even twenty-four hours yet since we signed the deal, and she's already been this annoying.’
Infuriated by her stubbornness, especially her not answering when he's asking her a question.
“ You don't talk; you don't get out,” his voice flat-out cold.
Eloise bit her lips before pressing them into a thin line, her hands white-knuckled around the strap of her bag. Her whole body was stiff, her heart pounding beneath her composure.
she’d thought this through—called him knowing she might need to make a run for it after what she was about to do.
Each time she closes her eyes, her heart races with the fear that she might wake up to that night.
She'd jerk up from her sleep panting heavily with cold sweats trickling down her face. The traumatizing night had become a nightmare that haunts her each time she drifts into slumber.
‘ I'd regret my life if I don't do this,’ she said in her mind, “ the anger I couldn't unleash before committing suicide, I'd regret it for the rest of my life if I leave without letting him feel a sliver of what he put me through.”
Antonio waited. Then, he leaned back, brows drawn, but she still didn’t answer.
His patience thinned.
“ Stay silent, and I'll decide when this ride stops,” his cold voice said as he pressed the ignition button.
Eloise quickly placed her palm over his. Her eyes met his, wide with desperation—a silent plea not to move.
When he locked eyes with her, something in him eased. Something in her eyes tugged at him, it was the same look she had when she walked into the restaurant nights ago —pain, anger, loneliness. The sight of it had him clenching the wheel so hard his knuckles turned white.
Albeit, he turned off the ignition.
“ You might stop me if I tell you,” she said pulling back, “ I don't want to divorce him just like that, a few slaps on his face would make me feel better,”
“ So why am I here?”
“Because Mason doesn’t take humiliation quietly. He’ll fight back.”
Antonio furrowed his brow, “So what am I? Your prince charming?"
Eloise flinched slightly; she turned to him, frowning.
Antonio scoffed looking away. He couldn't believe she'd called him urgently to come and play the role of a prince charming. He turned back at her and grabbed her arm firmly, but not tightly enough to hurt her.
“ It's like you're mistaking me for some knight, I'm not, sweetheart. Don't expect me to come rushing in when your little stunt blows up in your face,”
His cold statement caused her to frown deeply as it made her feel like a frail little girl who needed some protection.
She yanked her arm off his grip, “ I'm not telling you to come to my rescue, I'm asking you to be in the car when I come out. And drive off the moment I get in, fast, 'cause he might give us a chase.”
Antonio let out a low, disbelieving chuckle. He leaned back, running a palm over his face, then biting the edge of his finger in thought.
“Let me get this straight,” he said. “You want to storm in, throw gasoline on a fire, and I’m the getaway driver in your little action movie?”
Eloise's jaw clenched as she glared up at him upon hearing him say, her sweaty palm balled.
She knew him to be arrogant and cold, but the sarcasm threw her off guard, hitting her face with humiliation.
‘Did she think I'm some jobless man who has time for some cat and rat chase?’ Antonio scoffed in his mind.
“ Then you can leave,” she said in between her gritted teeth, “ let me out.”
He glanced back at her, receiving a dagger glare with her fingers hovering over the door handle, expecting him to let her out.
He stared at her for a second before unlocking the door and she immediately pushed it open.
“ You don't have to wait,” she muttered as she stepped out of the car.
Without saying a word, he watched her walk into the building without glancing back. He sat there, his jaw slowly clenched, his knuckles tight against the wheel.
‘This is insane,’ he mumbled.
She was taking a rash action, one that might ruin their plan, but not only that, she was walking straight into a fire.
‘What the hell is this?’
He should’ve told her no. Should’ve driven off the moment she stayed quiet. Should’ve reminded her they had a deal—one that didn’t involve him playing her shadow, or backup, or emotional support.
But there he was.
Parked.
Waiting.
Watching.
Antonio exhaled harshly, dragging a hand through his hair.
‘You’re not her hero. You made that clear. So why does watching her walk in there alone feels like a goddamn mistake?’
He hated the look she wore. That stubborn mask.
*****
Her powerful presence in the building commands respect; employees turned their heads to bow and greet her, but her aura was quite terrifying.
The tail of her pony hair swung behind her like a whip, each stride fueling its momentum, lashing through the air with the same fury burning in her eyes. Her jaw clenched, shoulder squared, and hands balled into fists at her sides.
She pushed past terrified employees without a glance or responding to their shaky greetings as her eyes locked on the glass-walled office ahead.
The secretary could not protest or try to stop her. They've all known Eloise, but this was the first time they'd be seeing this kind of fire burning through her eyes with intense anger. Fear rushed through the secretary's veins, She stammered to say something but Eloise had walked past her, She turned to the other employees who gave her the ‘ what's going on look’
The automatic doors whooshed open just in time to avoid being shattered.
She stormed in like a storm breaking through calm skies, hair still swinging like a banner of war.
Mason and the staff sitting around the long table looked up to see Eloise.
“ Mrs Eloise,” they called but she walked fiercely towards Mason.
Like a lightning bolt, sharp and sudden, the thunderous slap against Mason's cheek echoed through the room, taking everyone aback.
They all gasped. Mason's widened eyes jerked up at her with his hand holding his cheek that felt hot.
“ Babe,” he muttered, utterly shocked, and stood up from his seat, “ what's that for?”
He dropped his hand, his heart racing so fast as thousands of questions ran through his mind. He'd never seen her that upset, nor had she ever laid her hand on him.
Again. Unexpectedly. Another hot slap landed on his cheek, this time, hotter than the first one.
The staffs present exclaimed louder, they'd also never seen her that furious and they couldn't help but wonder what happened and their butt remained glued to the seat with curiosity and eagerness to see what unfolds next.
This time, Mason was now furious, pain from the slap coursed through his cheek and he glared up at her.
“ Are you out of your goddamn mind?!,” his voice thundered, alerting everyone in the office, “ what do you think you're doing?”
Eloise's heart raced, but a feeling of half satisfaction rushed through her veins. One she hadn't felt since she woke up back in time, a heavy feeling of relief and happiness.
Mason dropped his hand from his now reddened cheek, his fist clenching as the side corner of his eyes watched the staff whisper to one another. A feeling of humiliation washed over him.
“ You, ungrateful bastard!” she yelled, causing even Mason to flinch a little.
He almost swore this wasn't the Eloise he knew. The Eloise he knew, even when angry, would never raise her voice at him.
“ What?!,” he exclaimed, scoffed, and scowled at her, “ what did you just call me?”
Without saying anything, Eloise reached into her bag and brought out a red lace panties. She dropped it on his head and flared,
“ You disgusting cheater! I found this in the Pocket of your suit!”
Loud exclamations followed.
Mason yanked it off his head and looked at it. His heart skipped so hard, his face paled, but he quickly collected himself, but just as he made to defend himself, Eloise handed another satisfying slap across his cheek, this time, sending Mason off the rail.
His head turned furiously, and he raised his hand to land her a slap.....
Chapter 18
His head turned furiously, and he raised his hand to land her a slap, but the loud whispers of the people present stopped him mid-way.
‘ Don't, don't Mason, if you hit her now, you might be arrested for abuse, and you'd be convincing everyone that you're a cheater ‘
He said in his mind, shutting his eyes tight and inhaling a deep breath before looking back at her.
‘ But who fuck owns it? Tamara? Priscilia?’
He blinked his eyes multiple times, trying to brush the thought off his mind and defend himself before the humiliating tag of a ‘cheater’ was instilled on him.
“ Isn't this yours?”
“ How the fuck is it mine?,” she yelled, “ how dare you cheat on me! You limp-dick idiot.”
Some people chuckled silently at the insult. Mason's face was red with embarrassment. He opened his mouth to speak, but she cut him short.
“ I can't believe you could actually cheat on me, after just a month into marriage, what a shameless fool, You're such a disgrace,” she spat on him and stormed away.
Mason looked around to receive disdainful gazes from everyone. He shook his head and ran after her.
With her steps hastening out of the office, her fist clenched with her face plastered with a satisfactory smile. Even though the slaps weren't enough, she at least got peace in her mind that her mind had been desperate for.
The panties don't belong to anyone but herself; her heart skipped when she thought he'd recognized it. It was one of her new panties but of course, he fell for it.
“ Eloise! Elly!,”
She heard his desperate call after her and hastened her steps more, her heart racing faster. She knew so well if she should stop to listen to him, he was going to make himself the victim of the situation, and she was going to look like a liar or an impulsive wife, making her intention to make him a cheater or a bad person to everyone lose its effect.
And if that doesn't happen, he might threaten her or drag her to a corner to do something bad to her cause she knew he's immediately desperate to restore his image that is getting ruined by the passing seconds.
Employees had begun to check their phones, and the company chat groups and platforms had been set ablaze with the hottest gist about the cheating husband, who was also getting painted as a gigolo and a gold digger.
‘Is he still …oh,’ a smile tugged at her lips as she saw the door of his car open.
He waited.
And she walked faster, quickly got into the car, closed the door, and the car drove off right away.
Mason ran when he saw her get into a car; he thought she'd still walk to the lot or board a taxi, and he'd have time to query and vent his anger, but he was shocked to see her get into a car that immediately took off.
“ What the heck!” he looked around in confusion, his mind struggling to process what to do next as he caught some people drifting in and out of the building, glancing at him and whispering to one another.
His phone was vibrating heavily in his pocket, and he reached out for it and saw the company platform buzzing with messages and posts.
Hottest gist: The CEO caught cheating on his newly wedded wife, the former CEO
~Isn't he disgusting
~Isn't their marriage just a month old? And he already cheated on his wife?
~Maybe she was too much for him
~I knew he wasn't good, he definitely married her for her money, ewww
~Maybe she isn't satisfying him, hahahaha
~Will he still remain the CEO? He's doomed, she's going to collect her company back,
~She's going to chase him out of the company, she owns everything and he still cheats on her, what a fool
Mason's blood boiled as he read the messages and posts. He clenched his fist so hard around his phone and shouted furiously before heading towards his car.
“ Fuck! I need to catch up with her,” he said panting as he turned the key, igniting the car.
*****
Antonio strides through the pathway in his black, well-tailored suit with his hands occupied with two cans of chilled cola, his gaze fixated on Eloise, sitting on the bench along the path. He watched her swing slightly on the bench, a little smile on her face, and eyes wandering around till they finally landed on him.
A smile nudged in as he saw her smile broaden upon seeing him. His eyes locked on her, and his lips parted.
‘They look more alive,’ he muttered to himself, referring to her eyes, but quickly cleared his throat, looking away, nudging the smile creeping in off.
“ Here,” he handed over a can to her as he got to her side,
“ Thanks,” she said as she took it from him. With a quick flick of the tab, a sharp hiss escaped as carbonation broke free. Tiny bubbles rushed to the surface, and she quickly placed her lips on them so they'd rush into her mouth.
Antonio chuckled softly as he watched her do that, finding it so cute but quickly masked it off and looked away.
Eloise closed her eyes for a second as she gulped down the drink that tickled the roof of her mouth and sent a tiny shockwave of coolness down her throat.
Antonio looked back at her when she let out a small ‘ahh’ after dropping the can from her lips.
“ It's so refreshing,” she said, smiling, and looked up at him to see his eyes fixed on her, but it was so brief that he looked away.
“ Of course, it'll be, not after you satisfy yourself like that,” he said and took a sip of the drink.
“ I thought you left,” she smirked looking up at him, “ why didn't you leave?”
“ You signed the contract, and I wasn't ready to let my wife appear on a headline.”
Her heart skipped a beat. The mention of his wife reminded her of their deal and it sent waves through her spine.
She scoffed, avoiding his gaze, “Not yet, your wife,” she muttered.
“ Soon. Talking about that,” he turned to her properly, “ that's your copy of the contract,” he said referring to the brown envelope sitting beside her.
She glanced over at it and dropped the can beside her before picking it up and opening the envelope to take out the white sheet, going through the content again to see if any changes had been made.
“ Thinking I changed some things?"
Eloise nearly choked on her saliva, looking up at him with her jaw dropped.
‘How did he know? Is he like a mind reader or what?.’
She cleared her throat, looking away, “We can't tell, right now, I have so much of trust issues,”
“ I can tell. I need to get back to work, I'll have my driver take you home to get your stuffs,”
“ Huh?” she looked up again, getting pissed with why he was so tall and standing instead of sitting, causing her to strain her neck every time she looked up at him.
“ Why are you surprised? It's in the deal that you're to move in with me.”
He narrowed his eyes as he looked at her drop her head, biting her lips.
Oh damn those pink lips. She's biting them again.
He groaned, licked his lips, and glanced away.
“ Feeling nervous?” he asked with his heart beating faster.
“ Nervous? Why would I be feeling nervous?” she asked innocently,
“ Nervous about moving in with me?”
She furrowed her brow and shook her head, “There's nothing to be nervous about, it's more like I'm just going to be your housemate, it's stated in the contract, the rules, personal space, no strings…,”
“ Boring,” he interjected,
“ Huh?”
“ Thought you were like me.”
She paused and pouted a little as she stared back at his little narrowed gaze at her.
“ Like you? What do you mean?”
“ I thought we'd have something in common; I didn't know you're someone who sticks to rules.”
She scoffed, “Isn’t that the essence of it being rules, to be abided by?"
Antonio bent over, leaning closer to her; too close, she tilted her head back, frowning.
Staring into each other's eyes, she saw him smirk, one too mischievous.
“ Well, not me,” he whispered enough for her to hear. His voice became hoarse, “If there's something I don't know how to do, that'll be sticking to the rules. I tend to break them. A lot.”
