The Billionaire’s Flash Marriage: Baby I’m Sorry - Chapter 9

Chapter 9

After a night of bliss, Lani awoke in the comforting embrace of Kane, feeling a level of contentment she had never experienced before. Perhaps it was the early bedtime, or Kane held her all night, but she slept soundly and woke up incredibly refreshed.

Yawning, Lani stretched and lazily adjusted herself, finding Kane beside her, already awake. His gaze was gentle yet carried a hint of a smile as he carefully helped Lani tidy her slightly tousled hair.

"Awake, huh? Hungry yet? I'll whip up some breakfast for you."

Still, in a half-asleep state, Lani dreamily nodded, prompting Kane to laugh gently before heading to the bathroom to brush his teeth and then gracefully descending the stairs.

Lani took a moment to stretch herself before slowly getting up, absentmindedly brushing her teeth, and making her way downstairs.

In the kitchen, Kane stood, his broad back confidently engaged in preparing food. He was busy assembling sandwiches and smoothly placing them in the oven, his movements seamless. Lani couldn't help but admire, her lips curving up as she thought that marrying Kane might have been a crazy decision, but it was undeniably the right one.

After all, having someone cook for you right after waking up was the epitome of happiness.

Approaching Kane from behind, Lani naturally wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his back. The scent of mint lingered on the tip of her nose, pleasant and satisfying as she took a deep breath. Her voice turned affectionate.

"Kane, you truly are a husband who is both excellent and reliable. Marrying you is the wisest decision in my life."

"A handsome husband who knows how to look after her cooks delicious meals, and smells amazing – perfect," Lani added.

Kane's mood lifted upon receiving the compliment. After adjusting the oven temperature, he turned around, embraced Lani, and carried her to the chair next to the dining table.

"Feet not hurting anymore, huh? Why didn't you call me when you went downstairs?"

Lani shook her head; the wounds on her hands and feet were minor, causing only a slight soreness upon waking up.

"Alright, sit here and wait for me. Breakfast is almost ready."

Kane laughed, gently patting Lani's head before turning away to pour her a warm glass of milk. As Lani sat waiting, Kane finished setting the breakfast on the table.

Lani's plate consisted of a rolled omelet, a sandwich, and a crispy sausage, accompanied by a warm glass of milk. The beautifully presented food made her mouth water, and she eagerly took a sip, patiently waiting for Kane to join her.

She must say that Kane's culinary skills were quite impressive. The food not only looked appealing but also tasted delicious. Lani devoured her meal quickly, satisfied and patting her belly.

"If you ever decide you don't want to be an office worker anymore, you might consider opening a restaurant. I'll invest in your business," she suggested.

Lani playfully praised him with a twinkle in her eye, her words a mix of innocence and boredom that made Kane laugh.

"What a pity, but for now, I just want to be a chef to cook for you," he said sweetly.

Hearing this sweet confession made Lani blush, and she let out an awkward cough, turning her face away. She dared not look into Kane's eyes, quietly changing the subject.

"You're not going to work today?" she asked.

Kane didn't expose Lani's embarrassment, simply going along with it and replied, "It's Sunday. I have the day off."

Lani's eyes lit up, and she suddenly thought of something exciting.

"Then, how about we go shopping? I'll buy you a few more sets of clothes."

Kane thought about the numerous bags of clothes, shoes, and watches from different brands that he hadn't had a chance to wear yet, furrowing his brow slightly.

"Didn't we buy a lot just the other day? I already have plenty of clothes; there's no need to buy more."

The fact that Lani had bought him so much just the other day had made Kane feel both embarrassed and somewhat guilty for deceiving her about his true identity. Now, letting Lani continue to spend money on buying clothes for him would only amplify that sense of wrongdoing.

However, Lani was unaware of what Kane was thinking. She thought that Kane's physique was handsome, and while he already looked great in regular, inexpensive clothes, wearing outfits from famous brands would make him even more outstanding. So, she didn't allow Kane to shake his head and refuse, determined in her decision.

"No problem, I've already said it. You are my husband, and I willingly spend money to buy things for you," she insisted. "Besides, you're so handsome. You need to wear nice clothes to match."

Lani winked playfully and got up, instructing Kane to change into something nice and meet her downstairs. She skipped back to the room, choosing a simple T-shirt and denim shorts. She spent half an hour in the room doing light makeup before standing in front of the mirror, satisfied.

"Well, do I look pretty enough?" she asked.

Kane had already changed and was standing behind Lani, waiting. He nodded sincerely at her. Lani looked beautiful, her slender and balanced figure accentuated by the youthful outfit, giving her a vibrant and captivating look.

Satisfied, Lani then hugged Kane, and they walked out together. She let Kane drive, ensuring they wore hats, sunglasses, and masks before entering the car.

"After all, I'm an actress. If fans or reporters recognize us outside, it could be troublesome. So, please bear with hiding our identities," she said, emphasizing the need for discretion.

Kane laughed, obediently allowing Lani to help him with the sunglasses before driving to the mall she suggested. It was a well-known shopping center in the city, not too crowded, making shopping convenient.

With her arm around Kane, Lani enthusiastically entered the mall. The spree of buying began.

Anything that seemed fitting for Kane, she generously swiped her card. Kane followed behind, carrying bags of clothes and shoes. Occasionally, he is called back by Lani to try on a few outfits, only to end up with more bags in his hands. It continued until Lani wanted to take him into a men's shoe store, where Kane hurriedly intervened.

"Aren't you planning to buy a few dresses or handbags yourself? You've been buying a lot for me since earlier, and I think I've got enough to wear," Kane said, his voice sounding somewhat helpless.

He found Lani's shopping enthusiasm reminiscent of his mother's, who, after every shopping spree, would come home with bags filled with various expensive clothes and jewelry, leaving no room for him on the sofa.

Hearing Kane's words, Lani agreed and cheerfully led him to a few women's clothing stores, adding a few dresses from this year's fall collection. After all, she was an actress, and even on film sets, she needed to wear trendy and beautiful designs.

So, with each passing moment, Kane's hands carried more bags, and his steps became increasingly burdensome. And he started to regret the suggestion he made earlier.

Chapter 10

He watched the curved corners of Lani's mouth and the sparkling eyes as she entered a nearby jewelry store. The words "Or should we go back and store the things first?" were silently withdrawn.

As for Lani, once inside the jewelry store, she quickly succumbed to the allure of the dazzling pieces, her eyes gleaming with excitement. She swiftly selected a beautiful swan-shaped necklace from a renowned local brand. Just as she was about to ask the staff for assistance with the payment, her attention was captivated by a nearby bracelet.

It was a delicate bracelet adorned with a few small round stones in a light blue hue. Under the warm light in the store, it emitted a sparkling glow, surpassing all the other bracelets placed around it.

Lani didn't know what gemstones those light blue stones were made of, but based on their exquisite craftsmanship and perfect color, she could tell they were so expensive.

"Can I try on that light blue bracelet?" she asked.

The salesgirl, a young and enthusiastic girl, graciously handed the bracelet to Lani and helped her put it on. The thin strand of the bracelet made Lani's wrist appear more delicate and soft, and the light blue hue of the stones made her skin look even fairer under the store lights, almost glowing.

"Does this bracelet suit me?" she inquired.

Lani was reluctant to let go of the bracelet, shaking her wrist towards Kane and receiving a firm nod. She cheerfully inquired about the price, promptly hearing the response from the salesgirl.

"You have a good eye. It is the latest bracelet in our fall collection—exquisite design and only ten pieces have been released. Each one is thirty thousand dollars."

It was a luxury jewelry brand, and its pieces were crafted in limited quantities, often resulting in higher prices. However, the cost of a single bracelet was undeniably expensive. Lani began to hesitate.

While the bracelet was something she could afford, spending a significant amount on a bracelet felt a bit extravagant. Additionally, she had to consider budgeting for her and Kane's expenses in the future. Saving money seemed like a wiser choice.

"Well, let me look at some other bracelets," she said.

Lani reluctantly handed the bracelet back to the salesgirl, her eyes showing a hint of regret. The salesgirl didn't show any judgment, continuing to introduce Lani to other bracelets with lower price points.

"I'll go to the restroom for a moment," Kane said.

He placed the shopping bags next to Lani and gently patted her shoulder. Lani tilted her head, giving him a slight nod before resuming her examination of the other bracelets nearby.

The jewelry from this brand was all elegant, but having just seen an exquisite bracelet, Lani found it challenging to appreciate others. She pursed her lips, telling the salesgirl she wanted to pay for the initial necklace. However, another employee approached with excitement.

"Hello, ma'am! I'm Jasmine, the new girl. I'm still getting the hang of things. Let me help you with the payment."

Lani nodded, handing the necklace and her credit card to the new salegirl. After gathering a few customer details, the enthusiastic new sales girl announced.

"The necklace is a thousand dollars. You're so lucky because you're our one-thousandth customer since opening this branch in the mall. So, the necklace will be half-price for you. Additionally, you'll receive a complimentary bracelet from our latest fall collection, in limited quantities globally."

The employee spoke so much that Lani couldn't keep up. When she carefully took the bracelet that the new employee was introducing, Lani suddenly became aware. So, she was fortunate enough to receive such an expensive and exquisite bracelet as a gift?

The unexpected happiness left Lani a bit stunned.

Eventually, Kane returned just in time to help her accept the gift. Lani paid for the necklace with her credit card and politely thanked the employee. Still in a daze, Lani didn't notice the new salegirl giving a slight nod to Kane, who nodded back in return.

It wasn't until Kane took Lani out of the store, and she tightly held his hand, that she exclaimed, "I'm so lucky today! Suddenly receiving a bracelet I adore as a gift."

"Earlier, I hesitated a bit because I thought it was a bit pricey, and I was thinking of not buying it. But in the end, I didn't have to pay a dime. You can't imagine the feeling of disappointment for not being able to get your favorite item, only to suddenly own it enthusiastically, haha."

Lani was so excited that she spoke more than usual. Her lips curled up, and she was continuously animated. Her voice was pleasant, like the sound of a silver bell. Kane occasionally responded with a few words, slowly guiding her, holding her hand, and leading her to the garage.

"Why are you back so soon? I was thinking of getting you some more sleepwear."

Lani, immersed in the blissful sensation, followed Kane's lead without realizing it. When she came to her senses, she found herself sitting in the passenger seat, with Kane carefully fastening the seatbelt for her. Hearing this, Kane sighed slightly, rubbed his forehead, and responded after a moment of contemplation.

"Lani, you've already bought me so much, to the point that the trunk is full. Maybe for the next few years, I won't need to buy new clothes anymore."

Lani laughed at Kane's thoughts, eventually sitting obediently in her seat as he drove them home.

They continued their routine, lying together on the sofa. Lani comfortably rested on Kane's lap as they watched a movie.

About halfway through, Lani's phone on the table rang, and Kane leaned over to pick it up and handed it to her. Lani squinted at the name on the screen, quickly pressing to answer.

"What's up, Aurora? Did Director Zhang's film crew announce a change in cast?"

Lani's tone turned disappointed as the thought crossed her mind, and the anticipation of the news didn't bring joy. Previously, when she landed the lead role in that film through a casting call, her fans already knew this news. Now, the official announcement seemed to be ashamed and shy. Really, really embarrassing, Lani added.

However, before she could express any more complaints, she heard the emotionally charged voice of Aurora.

"No, it's not bad news, Lani. Do you know about Director Lee's film, 'The Wind Whispers Beside Us, You Come to Me'? The film crew just contacted me, impressed by your performances in previous films, and they want you to play the lead female role."

The news was so unexpectedly delightful that it left Lani wide-eyed in astonishment.

Chapter 11

Director Lee stands at the pinnacle of the entertainment industry today, with each of his films garnering prestigious awards, both nationally and internationally. Consequently, the actors featured in his projects are top-tier celebrities nationwide.

"The Wind Whispers Beside Us, You Come to Me" is Director Lee's most ambitious undertaking this year, boasting substantial investments in both its script and the director's cinematic prowess.

Casting sessions have been ongoing since the beginning of the year. However, she knew that many famous female actors in the country did not pass the casting round, so the film crew continued to search for the female lead.

Lani, a relatively unknown actress, never dared to dream of landing a role as the lead in such a film and opted not to participate in the casting process.

Unexpectedly, the film crew contacts Aurora directly to offer her an opportunity.

"What's up, Lani? Are you on cloud nine now, haha? The path to becoming the top actress seems widening for you," Aurora joyfully exclaimed.

Even before the cameras start rolling, the film is destined to outshine others in the country. If Lani were to play the lead role, she would undoubtedly quickly rise to fame, attracting even more fans. It is an incredible opportunity.

Aurora, with joy, narrates the professionalism of Director Lee and how extensively the film has been invested in. She also shares with Lani a rumor that the film crew has recently secured an additional investment of three hundred thousand dollars solely for preparing costumes to ensure the actors look even more impeccable on screen.

Lani is rendered almost speechless. She gazes ahead with delight and bewilderment, a foolish grin adorning her face. Kane can sense that Lani has caught wind of something significant but pretends not to know as he leans in, gently inquiring, "What's going on, Lani?"

Placing her phone a bit farther away, Lani addresses Kane with a soft and amused tone, "I've got a new role, a fantastic one."

As the unexpected joy begins to settle, Lani starts to inquire about details regarding the role and the script from Aurora. Her expression becomes more serious, and the discussion becomes increasingly animated.

When the conversation ended, Lani looked at Kane, slightly furrowing her brows. Her voice, filled with satisfaction, reveals, "I've got a new role now, more money to support you. When the time comes, you can buy whatever you want."

"But I must admit, Director Lee has a keen eye, able to recognize the acting potential of someone as brilliant as me. I'll strive harder not to disappoint the film crew, haha."

Lani, immersed in a sense of joy, playfully embraced Kane. Kane, in turn, curved his lips into a smile, his mood lightened by Lani's excitement.

"So, we should eat something expensive and tasty today. What do you want to eat? I'll cook for you."

Lani teasingly expressed a craving for grilled lobster. Kane gently stroked her head and agreed before heading into the kitchen to prepare the meal. Once everything was ready, Lani lazily stretched out on the couch, enjoying a peaceful and comfortable moment. Perhaps it was the pleasant early autumn breeze or her light-hearted mood, but Lani quickly dozed off. It wasn't until Kane carefully brushed her hair, awakening her, that she dreamily opened her eyes.

"Time for dinner, Lani. You have to wake up, don't sleep anymore."

Kane's voice was low and soothing, and his movements were exceptionally gentle.

Instinctively, Lani caught hold of Kane's hands and pressed them against her cheek. Then, with a blink of her eyes, she extended her arms forward, her tone soft and slightly coaxing.

"Carry me up."

Lani, still half-asleep with her eyes half-closed and her mouth slightly curved, looked adorable and enticing. Her soft, flowing hair cascaded down her shoulders, a bit tousled but adding to her allure. The straps of her nightgown had slipped down on her shoulders, revealing a delicate expanse of collarbone.

Kane involuntarily swallowed, quietly bending down to wrap his arms around Lani's waist, lifting her, and slowly stepping into the dining area.

Setting Lani neatly on a chair, Kane pushed the prepared food in front of her before speaking in a gentle tone.

"Give it a try; this is the first time I've cooked this dish. So I don't know if it is tasty enough or not."

Lani nodded, taking a sip of water to clear her senses before bowing her head to eat. Kane's cooking skills were impressive; the dishes suited Lani's taste. As she savored a bite of the grilled lobster, her lips curved in praise.

"Delicious, very much like the five-star restaurant dishes."

Kane chuckled, using a fork to pick up a piece of lobster from his plate and placing it onto Lani's dish, his voice soft and tender.

"Yeah, if it's good, eat a bit more."

Having finished her meal, Lani resumed her leisurely activities, lounging on the sofa with her legs dangling as she browsed the web. When Kane returned, he found Lani humming and singing, seemingly in a good mood. He naturally approached, embracing Lani from behind and letting her rest against his legs while he continued scrolling through his phone.

As Lani glanced at the phone screen, she suddenly sat up, exclaiming, "Wow, unexpectedly. Kane, do you remember Director Zhang that I mentioned? The one who initially cast me as the lead but later switched to Hebe?"

Kane nodded, recalling the director who had accepted money from Hebe's father and changed the lead role from Lani to her. It had caused Lani no small amount of humiliation. However, Kane had found a way to make him pay for that mistake.

"I wonder what he did to offend the investors and make the main investor pull out. Currently, almost all the funding for the film has been withdrawn. I'm not sure if that film can continue shooting in the future."

"It's surprising news. It is also the first movie that investors withdrew capital before filming started this year."

Director Zhang's film project is about to start shooting, and finding new investors to compensate for the withdrawn funds is no simple matter.

Moreover, Aurora just messaged that the previous investors pulled out a million dollars of the initial capital. Currently, the remaining budget for the film is insufficient to invest in costumes for the main actors.

"It's quite fortunate. If Hebe hadn't snatched the lead role, I would be panicking now. Furthermore, Director Lee's film started shooting just a month later. If Hebe hadn't stolen the main role before, I would have missed a great opportunity."

"Now I can't guess, what Director Zhang did to anger the investors to the point of pulling out funds. Isn't it because he unilaterally changed the lead actor? The investors couldn't tolerate Hebe's pretentious and insincere acting? Anyway, Hebe's acting can be described as downright terrible. Her previous roles were all bought with my father's money."

Lani spoke more passionately, seeming to take delight in the troubles that Hebe was facing.

Despite Hebe seducing her ex-boyfriend in the past, Lani was still angry but no longer bothered.

Now, seeing Hebe's life not going smoothly, she felt it was well-deserved.

All of this was Hebe's own doing.

At that moment, Lani's phone rang, and she looked at Hebe's name appearing on the screen, involuntarily furrowing her brow. Every time Hebe called, it never brought any good news, and besides, Lani wasn't eager to engage in a conversation with her.

However, Hebe was persistent, calling not just once but multiple times. Lani, feeling tired, leaned against Kane and lazily picked up the phone.

"What's the matter, famous actress? Heard there's an issue with the role you snatched from me?" Lani deliberately teased Hebe, tilting her head slightly and smiling at Kane. Then, she heard a crack in the voice on the other end before Hebe's furious and high-pitched voice reached her ear.

"Don't you dare discuss how my role is! All these problems are your bad luck affecting me. You jinx!"

"Now that you've got a new role, you must feel triumphant, huh? Just wait, your happy time won't last long."

Lani wasn't overly surprised that Hebe knew about her new role. After all, the entertainment industry was small, and the film crew of Director Lee was well-known, attracting significant attention. She shrugged, deciding not to continue taunting Hebe, and instead asked, "Why did you call me?"

Chapter 12

Only now did Hebe remember the main issue. She snorted before speaking, "My father said to give up your role in Director Lee's film for me. He'll forgive your previous nonsense in exchange for this concession and continue to treat you like his daughter."

Lani found this shamelessness amusing. Just because she had been overly accommodating before, always yielding roles to Hebe, did Hebe and her father consider her a fool?

A hint of disdain flashed in her eyes, and Lani chuckled. "Treat me like a daughter? I want to kneel and thank your father for his generosity."

"But I don't need this kind of blessing. I've said it before. Since I stepped out of that house, I cut ties with all of you. Don't contact me again in the future."

Angry, Lani hung up, conveniently blocking Hebe's phone number, feeling utterly annoyed.

On the other side, Hebe was suddenly stunned by Lani's unexpected resistance. Although it wasn't the first time she had asked Lani to give up a role, before, Lani had always complied. She never expected Lani to resist this time and to speak so harshly.

Hebe shared this news with Derek, who was also furious and wanted to call Lani to give her a piece of his mind. However, Lani had blocked their numbers, making it impossible to reach her no matter how many times they called.

After blocking a series of phone numbers, Lani felt much more relaxed and even finished eating half of the apple on the table. She enjoys her time with Kane, leaning into his embrace while watching the remaining episodes of the TV series they started the day before.

After finishing the episodes, the two of them returned to their room, embraced each other, and fell asleep to savor the last relaxing moments of the weekend before going back to work.

...

The next day, Kane woke up early, getting out of bed gently but still managing to wake Lani. She opened her eyes lazily, like a small cat, half of her face still buried in the warm cotton blanket. Her voice was soft and slightly husky.

"Do you have to go to work now?"

Kane bent down, a gentle kiss on Lani's forehead, then nodded, helping her tuck in the blanket carefully before giving some instructions.

"Yeah, I have to go to work. I'll make breakfast and leave it on the table. When you wake up, remember to heat it in the microwave."

Lani nodded drowsily, waved to Kane, and then closed her eyes to continue sleeping. Kane brushed his teeth, went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for both of them, placed Lani's portion on the table, had his breakfast, changed his clothes, and then drove Lani's car to the company.

As soon as Kane appeared, Ryan, the secretary, professionally informed him of today's schedule. He also mentioned that Kane's friend, Daniel, was waiting for him in the office.

Kane walked into the office and saw Daniel leisurely sipping coffee. When Daniel noticed Kane, he only raised his head slightly and smirked.

"How's it going, Kane? Did you read the news yesterday? I've withdrawn all the investment for this film. About 90% of the budget is gone, and there's not enough money to continue shooting today."

"But I'm curious. Finally, who made you vent your anger? I've never seen you care about the entertainment industry before. You even used a sports car to bribe me to withdraw the film investment. That's quite unusual."

"Hey, I heard that in Director Zhang's film, the female lead was replaced. What's her name? Oh, right, Lani. Her role taken over by someone else."

"Isn't Lani the one you're pursuing? So, you like her so much that you couldn't stand seeing her sad. Do you want to replace her to vent your anger? Am I right, haha?"

Daniel was a gossip lover. Since Kane didn't explain much when he called the other day, Daniel was very curious. At the beginning of the week, he eagerly woke up early to come to Kane's company to find out.

Kane didn't bother with Daniel, sitting at his desk in the office and turning on his computer to start working. When Daniel was about to continue teasing, Kane spoke up quietly, giving a direct answer that silenced Daniel.

"Yeah, it's to vent my anger. And by the way, Lani is not the woman I'm pursuing; she is my wife."

Daniel took a sip of his coffee, nearly choking on it. He widened his eyes, staring at Kane, whose mouth was wide open enough to fit an entire egg.

"Are you kidding me? When did you tie the knot?"

"And here I thought we were best buds! You get married and don't even bother inviting me to the wedding, and now not even a heads-up?" Daniel exclaimed with a mix of shock and irritation.

Regardless of their long-standing friendship since kindergarten, Kane had managed to keep his marriage under wraps, making Daniel feel somewhat dismissed.

Seemingly unfazed by Daniel's reaction, Kane justified himself, "If I had known, I wouldn't have bothered following your advice to pull out of the film. I should've let you invest in the movie and let your wife take the lead role."

Daniel muttered under his breath, expressing his discontent, "Should've just let it be and not listened to you, withdrawn my funds from this film. I would let you invest in another film and choose your wife starring in it."

Kane sighed and explained, "You're the second person to know about this after Roger. I didn't announce many people about marrying Lani, and there was no grand ceremony."

Despite the tension, Daniel couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt at being kept in the dark about such a significant aspect of Kane's life.

Daniel, more shocked, exclaimed, "Why keep it under wraps? Isn't it because Lani didn't want to marry you? You practically forced her to register the marriage, didn't you?"

"If that were the case, then she's truly pitiable, and you're downright ruthless," Daniel remarked. As a seasoned film producer who had encountered various drama scripts, he couldn't help but marvel at the dramatic twist that Daniel had injected into his life. Kane shifted his gaze away from the screen, locking eyes with Daniel as he continued.

"Don't apply the plots of your invested films to real life. Lani and I got married willingly, and she was the one who actively expressed her desire to marry me."

"For some personal reasons, we decided to keep it low-key, not wanting too many people to know. I wasn't planning to disclose it publicly."

Knowing Daniel's penchant for gossip, Kane felt it was necessary to issue a cautionary reminder. Despite the initial agreement between him and Lani to keep their marriage private, Kane was genuinely committed to maintaining that confidentiality.

"Alright, let's change the topic," Kane said, standing up and settling onto the sofa across from Daniel. His voice deep and resonant, he asked, "How do I make Lani love me even more?"

Daniel, being a bit of a playboy who changed girlfriends every year, had a wealth of romantic experience. His ability to capture girls and turn them into his girlfriend within a week intrigued Kane. Despite their brief time living together, Kane had developed a positive impression of Lani and wanted to build a closer connection with her.

Daniel had to endure his third shock of the day. He clutched his chest, looking at Kane with a disdainful gaze.

"And you claim you didn't force Lani into marriage? Don't lie to me you coerce her. She didn't love you, so you decided to pursue her, right?"

"Hmph, you are a bad guy. Don't ruin Lani's life any further. Get a divorce quickly. I won't support someone as wicked as you."

Kane raised an eyebrow, showing no intention to refute. He stared back at Daniel, his thin lips forming a cold and indifferent response.

"Is there any advice, or should you leave? I still have work to do," Daniel remarked, originally intending to tease Kane into pleading for his guidance.

However, Kane remained steadfast from start to finish. Daniel pursed his lips and muttered, "No wonder Lani isn't into you. Let me tell you, nowadays, women only fancy gentle and warm-hearted men."

Chapter 13

"If you don't quickly change this aspect of yourself, I can only say you deserve to be single for the rest of your life."

Despite the taunting tone, Daniel's words held some truth. Kane was contemplative and silent, lowered his voice, and asked, "Anything else?"

Daniel's eyes sparkled with amusement as he leisurely took a sip of his coffee before responding, "This is premium services. I've gathered experience from numerous past relationships. I can't give it to you for free."

Kane's unblinking gaze prompted Daniel to chuckle lightly.

"Three hundred grand, no bargaining. Buying expertise in wooing girls, that's a bargain price, my friend," Daniel replied, grinning while sitting on the sofa, tapping his fingers happily on the table.

Kane glared at Daniel, who was enjoying himself.

"Why not just rob me?"

"Will you pay then? If not, I'll head home," Daniel said, seemingly ready to stand up. Kane gritted his teeth and motioned for him to stay. Daniel happily settled back down.

"Come closer here. I'll teach you how to make your wife so infatuated with you that she can't stay away."

Over the next three hours, Daniel imparted his dating wisdom to Kane. Kane listened attentively, silently memorizing every word Daniel spoke. He nodded in admiration, genuinely impressed.

"Alright, the wisdom has been transferred. Good luck to you. And don't forget to transfer the tuition fee to me soon, right here."

With that, Daniel lazily waved his hand and left. Perhaps due to successfully swindling a considerable sum from Kane, he was in high spirits, even whistling as he walked away.

It's unclear what advice Kane received from Daniel, but that evening, upon returning home and opening the door to his room, the bathroom door swung open, and Kane stepped out.

Wrapped in just a bath towel tied around his hips, his chest bare, Kane's well-defined collarbones and muscular chest were on full display. The eight-pack abs were firm and alluring, with droplets of water lingering on his neck, streaming down his chest, gliding over his abs, and disappearing into the towel.

Kane raised an eyebrow, feeling confident, attempting to observe every expression on Lani's fair face. However, his self-assuredness in his allure came crashing down when Lani, with a puzzled look, asked, "Why aren't you wearing a shirt? It's chilly in the autumn, and you're just strolling out with a bath towel. Aren't you afraid of catching a cold?"

Kane's hair-drying motion halted, and a perplexed expression crossed his face. Why did Lani's reaction differ from what Daniel had anticipated?

"Why are you just standing there? Hurry up, put some clothes on; you'll catch a cold if you stay like this," Lani urged, her eyebrows slightly furrowed. She quickly grabbed a set of clean clothes and pushed them toward Kane, still concerned, then gestured towards the bathroom.

Kane stood there, dazed, as Lani urged him. With a slight frown, he reluctantly took the clothes and started putting them on, the shock not dissipating.

Why did Lani act like that? Is he doing something wrong?

The first time, he intended to use his well-built physique to seduce Lani, and it ended like this?

Although Kane felt disheartened, he had no other choice. He sighed deeply and headed to the kitchen to prepare their usual dinner. After all, Lani enjoyed his cooking, considering it a culinary art capable of captivating her.

"Tomorrow, I have to shoot an advertisement. In the evening, I'll be live-streaming at the company. I might come home a bit late. Go ahead and have dinner without waiting for me," Mai informed, her gaze fixed on her plate as she chewed.

Kane, experiencing the second wave of melancholy for the day, could only nod. He lowered his head, eating with a sad expression, hiding his subdued emotions.

That night, Kane, still unwilling to accept the failure in the afternoon, continued the plan by donning a deep V-necked sleepwear. His collarbones were exposed, and the contours of his chest peeked through the delicate silk fabric. He lay on the bed, covered with a blanket, his eyes constantly flickering, meeting Lani's gaze as she stepped out of the bathroom, puzzled.

"Why do your eyes look like that, Kane? Are you having eye pain?" Lani inquired.

Kane remained silent for the second time.

Fine, he thought, realizing that he should have abandoned this foolish seduction plan right after Lani's unexpected reaction earlier that afternoon. Continuing to do such a plan would only make him look foolish.

When Kane's irritation lingered, he felt a warmth and gentleness on his forehead. He raised his eyes, encountering the tender gaze of Lani. Kane's heart joyfully raced as he realized that Lani had just kissed his forehead.

"What's wrong? Did you run into trouble at work, or did the boss scold you? I noticed your demeanor hasn't been great since this afternoon," Lani inquired with concern.

Kane nodded, feigning vulnerability, though internally he vehemently disagreed. At the office, if he never scolded his colleagues, he will often regarded as quite lenient. How could someone dare to scold him? Nevertheless, unaware of Kane's thoughts, Lani assumed he was facing isolation and harsh criticism at work, attributing his current discouragement to it. She tenderly embraced Kane, speaking soothingly.

"Don't worry. Everything will be fine. If you feel too overwhelmed, you can always quit your job. My income is enough to support both of us."

Kane's smile was on the verge of spreading from ear to ear as Lani embraced him. He was slightly trembling, trying to suppress his laughter. It only made Lani believe that Kane was feeling vulnerable and in need of comfort, prompting her to hold him even tighter.

Despite the unconventional seduction process, the outcome left Kane content. Throughout the day, he happily embraced Lani, and they slept together, sharing a warm blanket. Happiness radiated from Kane's chest, where Lani nestled on the way to his heart.

The next day, Lani woke up early for a photo shoot. Aurora was already waiting at the gate, and as soon as Lani entered, she handed her breakfast and offered some advice.

"Today, you'll be shooting the advertisement with Kazz. Remember to be well-behaved, avoid causing any trouble, and don't get too close to him. He's a playboy in the entertainment industry; everyone knows he's had multiple relationships with girls at the same time. His charming exterior only fools the media and his fans," Aurora cautioned carefully. Lani listened attentively while having her breakfast.

Upon arriving at the studio, Lani went into the dressing room. A makeup artist attended to her, changing her outfit before she stepped out. As Lani emerged from the room, she accidentally bumped into Kazz, who was passing by. Catching the cheerful gleam in Lani's eyes, Kazz approached with a polite greeting.

"Hello, you're Lani, right? You're even more beautiful than in pictures," Kazz remarked. Lani graciously thanked him and complimented Kazz on his handsome and stylish appearance. Kazz, in turn, smiled and tried to engage in conversation, praising Lani's acting, looks, and charm. Lani could only maintain her demure demeanor and respond sincerely to each compliment.

It wasn't until the staff called them that Kazz stopped the conversation. Lani sighed in relief before joining him to start the shoot.

The advertisement today was relatively simple, focusing on a fragrance. The first scene depicts the initial encounter between Kazz and Lani. As Lani walked by, Kazz was captivated by the alluring scent emanating from her, leaving a lasting impression.

The storyline continued with the two coincidentally meeting at a party, exchanging phone numbers, hanging out a few times, and eventually falling in love. While the script was straightforward to act out, Kazz's excessively passionate gaze during the scenes made Lani feel uncomfortable, and she just wanted to finish quickly.

Fortunately, the director's requirements were not too strict, and after a few retakes, they managed to capture the scenes satisfactorily. Lani breathed a sigh of relief, quickly expressing gratitude to the staff and bidding everyone farewell before hurrying into the dressing room.

"I couldn't stand it. Kazz's eyes looked at me as if I were his destined lover. You have no idea how uncomfortable and scared I felt at that moment," Lani shared, expressing her discomfort and unease.

As Lani bent over to remove her makeup, she complained to Aurora beside her. It wasn't the first time Lani had experienced male co-stars being overly flirtatious, but Kazz's creepy gaze was a first for her. She quickly wiped off her makeup, changed her clothes, and pulled Aurora away, eager to leave the place as soon as possible.

However, fate had other plans for Lani. Just as she stepped out of the dressing room, she spotted Kazz leaning against the opposite wall, waiting for her. Seeing Lani, Kazz approached her, his voice lowered and tone gentle.

"Lani, do you have time? I want to invite the whole crew to shoot the ad today for lunch. Would you join us?"
