The Billionaire’s Flash Marriage: Baby I’m Sorry - Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Lani truly wanted to decline but couldn't find a suitable reason. After all, they were both actors, and Kazz was much more famous than she was. Lani felt the need to act with respect.

Moreover, Kazz had mentioned that the entire crew would be going, so she couldn't refuse.

With a sigh, Lani agreed and accompanied Aurora to join Kazz. Kazz was delighted that his plan was working, deliberately slowing down to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with Lani.

Since meeting Lani, Kazz had been captivated by her beauty and cold, noble demeanor.

Furthermore, Lani's calm and distant attitude during the commercial shoot only increased Kazz's interest.

Determined to pursue Lani and make her his new girlfriend, Kazz was in high spirits.

On the way to the restaurant, Kane sent a message asking if Lani had finished work and had eaten yet. Lani casually replied that she was on her way to have dinner with colleagues, and she sent Kane the address before leaning back in her seat to rest.

Everyone arrived at the restaurant, and as soon as Lani sat down next to Aurora, Kazz approached and seated beside her. Faced with the director's gaze and the surrounding staff, Lani couldn't afford to show any displeasure, so she forced a stiff smile.

Fortunately, the others around them were busy choosing their meals and engaging in conversation, so Lani didn't feel overly uncomfortable.

"Lani, do you have a boyfriend?’’

Lani, who had been playing the role of the invisible person in the conversation, was taken aback when suddenly asked by the director. Recalling the agreement with Kane, she quietly shook her head, only to hear the director's laughter.

"At first glance, seeing your beauty, I thought you already had a boyfriend. Anyway, you're beautiful, talented, and have a good personality. There must be a lot of good men pursuing you."

Lani blushed and awkwardly laughed, not expecting Kazz to inquire further.

"How do you feel about me?"

Lani certainly didn't anticipate Kazz asking so directly, so she cleared her throat before responding vaguely.

"Young and talented, working professionally."

Lani gave some generic compliments, unaware that Kazz was growing even more confident. He ran his fingers through his hair, leaned in closer to Lani, disregarding the looks from the staff and the director nearby, and began to flirt with her.

"Oh, so do you want to get to know me better? For example, go out with me a few times. It can help us become more familiar and lay the groundwork for future collaborations."

Aurora, next to Lani, seemed unable to restrain herself any longer, tightly gripping Lani's hand, eager to speak up. Lani understood that Aurora wanted to help her vent her frustration at Kane, but this wasn't the right moment, especially with others around. She gently pulled on Aurora's sleeve to calm her down, then turned to her and nodded, indicating that everything was fine.

As for Kazz, Lani narrowed her eyes and moved slightly backward.

"Well, it seems not. Although I don't have a boyfriend, I am interested in someone and want to pursue him now. I don't want any ambiguous relationships with anyone else for now."

After saying this, Lani couldn't help but think of Kane. She pursed her lips, realizing that this response wasn't entirely false; there was some truth.

However, Lani was unaware that not far away, someone was not only thinking about her but sitting right behind her. This person witnessed Kazz approaching Lani and heard every word of Kazz's flirtation.

Kane clenched his fist, jaw tightened, eyebrows furrowed, radiating an intense aura that made his assistant nearby break into a sweat and inquire, "Is the food not to your liking? What do you want to eat? Next time, I'll pay more attention to choosing different dishes."

Kane shook his head, his eyes still focused straight ahead, silent and stoic, exuding an icy and angered demeanor.

On the other side, though Lani had declined quite clearly, Kazz wasn't giving up.

"It's okay; it's just that you like him. It's not certain that he'll like you back. Moreover, I think I have many qualities better than him. You can consider me."

Kazz's confidence wasn't without basis. Despite being only two years older than Lani, he won the Best Male Lead Actor award last year, possessing abundant talent. He was invited by luxury brands for commercials and magazine shoots frequently.

For Lani, this advertising contract was a good deal that Aurora had secured for her through a new connection. However, for Kazz, it was just another routine commercial shoot.

Yet, this didn't mean that Lani perceived Kazz as better than Kane. Kane is gentle, warm, and loyal, unlike Kazz, who is more carefree. And less natural, Lani despised deception and unfaithfulness, which Kazz seemed to embody. Therefore, she found it tiresome to engage in any conversation with him.

"For now, I don't want to think about that. I want to focus on pursuing the person I like," Lani responded, maintaining her resolve.

Lani took a sip of water, calmly responding, while Kazz's face briefly showed a hint of sad. However, those around them were perceptive, steering the conversation toward a different topic to ease the tension. Kazz's attitude also became less irritating, making him less detestable than before.

"I'll step outside for a moment," Kazz announced.

Kazz's phone rang, prompting him to stand up and leave the table to answer the call a while later. His mood, no longer comfortable, altered his once gentle voice into a colder tone. His gaze, as it passed by Lani, now held an additional hint of dissatisfaction.

About ten minutes later, Kazz returned, but now his left cheek was bruised, and his eyes were red and swollen, a clear sign that he had just been punched. Frowning, he sat down, clenching his teeth, his hand balled into a fist behind his back. As he settled into the chair, he cursed under his breath.

"People these days behave like thugs and lack manners. Just after I finished the call, I was about to step inside when a man suddenly came and punched me twice. Before I could react, he left."

Kazz seemed visibly frustrated, continuously cursing the man who had attacked him. Lani slowly glanced at Kazz, and his face now looked somewhat pathetic. As a celebrity, he couldn't possibly attend events or shoot films with his current battered appearance. Thus, this unexpected assault brought about a significant problem for him.

Those around quickly expressed their concern for Kazz, advising him on how to heal the bruises on his face. However, Aurora and Lani remained focused on their meal. Lani even thought that Kazz deserved it. It was as if someone else had taken her frustration out on Kazz after he made those disrespectful remarks earlier.

With this in mind, Lani couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction seeing Kazz facing trouble, and she even ate a bit more than usual that day.

Chapter 15

On the other side,

Kane massaged his wrist lazily, walking forward with an expression void of any excess emotion as if he hadn't just angrily punched someone.

"Why did you punch him just now? Do you and him have some grudge from the past?"

Ryan, the type who enjoyed gossip, quickly approached to inquire, seemingly finding Kane's sudden emotional outburst quite interesting. After all, since Kane had taken Lani as his secretary, he had consistently worn a cold, emotionless face, robotic and indifferent. Today, the robot unexpectedly raised a hand to strike someone, a rare occurrence.

But Kane wasn't in the mood for words. His demeanor was not particularly good, and he continued to massage his wrist, speaking deliberately.

"Just didn't like the look of him. Itchy hands."

Ryan was about to say something more when he suddenly halted, unsure how to respond to Kane's unusual attitude. The two continued walking towards the car, returning to the company to get back to work.

By the afternoon, Lani also returned to the studio to prepare for a livestream. Today, she appears on a live stream as the ambassador for a well-known domestic cosmetics brand, chatting with fans and introducing the brand's new skincare products.

It took Lani an hour to redo her makeup and change into a light blue strappy dress as the livestream began.

It took Lani an hour to redo her makeup and change into a light blue strappy dress as the livestream began.

The MC, a young and lively girl in her twenties, enthusiastically greeted the viewers and occasionally interacted with Lani. A stream of comments showered Lani with compliments on her beauty and charm, while a few anti-fans criticized her. The MC swiftly ignored the negative comments, reading out the praises for Lani and then delving into questions about her life.

"I heard you're about to join a game show. Is that right?"

As the live stream had just started, there weren't many viewers, so the questions mainly revolved around Lani's everyday life. She chuckled gracefully, running her fingers through her hair.

"Yes, it's a reality TV show about experiencing rural life, called 'Together to the Countryside.' I hope everyone will tune in."

The MC smiled and wished Lani a beautiful experience on the game show. More viewers had joined this time, and the MC began introducing the new skincare products.

Lani, by her side, occasionally added a few comments, tested products on her skin to showcase their effectiveness, and swatched lip products on her hand.

While Lani was attentively testing lipsticks for everyone to see, she suddenly exclaimed, "Thank you for the supercar that Kazz gifted."

"Another supercar, thanks to Kazz!"

Lani, curious, looked up, noticing an account named Kazz continuously gifting supercars during the livestream—now totaling twelve cars.

The livestream app allowed fans to send gifts, with supercars being the most expensive, costing around $30 each. Naturally, the Kazz account stood out. However, upon hearing the name Kazz, Lani involuntarily furrowed her brow. Could it be a coincidence?

Is Kazz had nothing better to do at home, so he wanted to attract attention during her livestream?

The MC, still serious, thanked Kazz for the gifts, maintaining a professional smile. Lani also leaned in, closely watching the screen, wanting to read the comments from fans. However, the reactions were as expected.

Because of this seemingly purposeful action from Kazz, fans assumed that Lani and Kazz were a couple, hence their enthusiastic support for her.

"This couple is so sweet. Lani live streams, and Kazz immediately sends gifts to support her. It's both caring and gentle."

"I heard they recently filmed a commercial together. Could it be that their first meeting left an impression, leading to them going out a few times and eventually dating? If so, then Kazz is spoiling his girlfriend."

"I'm so jealous of Lani, being beautiful, and having a boyfriend who dotes on her."

Lani wasn't sure if these were genuine fan comments or if someone hired by Kazz was seeding them, but she felt exhausted. Either way, she didn't want to get involved with Kazz.

There were a few people who didn't ship Lani and Kazz. Some even speculated that this might not be Kazz's account and could be a fan using his name.

However, this comment was dismissed because, in reality, it was Kazz's account. He had used this account for live streams before.

Fortunately, the MC didn't directly ask Lani about Kazz. Instead, she thanked him briefly for the gifts and continued introducing the new lipstick. Lani swiftly raised her hand, showing the swatched lipstick for the viewers to see the color more authentically.

After introducing the lipsticks, the livestream session came to an end. Regardless, today's live stream for the brand was primarily for chatting to boost interaction with fans and provide a brief overview of the product lines. In a few days, there would be an event for the official launch of the new products, where they would go into more detail.

The MC and Lani exchanged light smiles as they bid farewell to the viewers, and the livestream ended. The MC quickly leaned in and spoke.

"Lani, you've worked hard. Today, you handled the work very professionally and demonstrated a deep understanding of the products when responding to viewers' comments."

Lani politely expressed her gratitude, praising the MC for her charming conversation and adept creation of a lively atmosphere. Afterward, Lani bowed in appreciation to the studio staff and, alongside Aurora, headed back.

"Hey, Kazz hasn't given up on pursuing you, huh? You clearly rejected him this afternoon, yet he went ahead and deliberately sent gifts during the livestream."

"Today, about 50 thousand people watched your livestream. Currently, 'he and you' is trending at number 10 on the hot search."

Lani was also quite frustrated. Kazz's spontaneous gift-giving during the livestream was beyond her control, and she could only sigh.

"Tomorrow in the gameshow, the MC will probably ask about the relationship status of the guests. At that time, I'll say that I'm single and have no intention of dating."

Aurora nodded in agreement. Indeed, that seemed to be the most reasonable approach. However, thinking about what Kazz had done, Lani was still so angry that she felt like hitting someone.

"I should have wrapped my fists in bandages this afternoon and given him a matching set of swollen cheeks. Getting punched on only one side by a stranger was too good for him."

"People like Kazz should stay humble in their mansions and not go out causing trouble for others."

In another location, the atmosphere maintained an eerie silence since MC and Lani bid farewell to their audience and ended the live stream.

Ryan stealthily observed Kane, swallowing nervously, silently offering an explanation.

"It seems the money you deposited for donating to Lani must wait until her next livestream to be utilized; she has already concluded today's session."

Ryan thought witnessing Kane throw a punch earlier was shock enough, but little did he expect his boss to add another layer of surprise.

This afternoon, engrossed in work, Ryan received a call from Kane, urgently summoning him to his office. Kane didn't even wait for his laptop to shut down before rushing in, anticipating an urgent contract or project. To his surprise, Kane was sitting on the desk, intently watching a live stream of some celebrity on an iPad, asking with grave seriousness, "Do you know how to donate on a livestream?"

Upon inquiry, it turned out that after watching Lani's livestream, Kane found Kazz's actions excessively attention-seeking. The jealousy creeping in made Kane feel awful. Of course, he wanted to out-donate Ideally, the MC wouldn't notice a few of Kazz's cheaper donated items.

So, Ryan, a responsible secretary, exhausted all patience to guide Kane on how to deposit money into the live stream app to purchase gifts for donation. They thought everything had concluded there.

However, just as Kane finished depositing money and turned back before he could send a gift, Lani was already facing the camera, smiling brightly, waving gracefully. Less than three seconds later, a notification appeared, signaling the end of the livestream.

Chapter 16

From the live stream ended until now, Kane had been staring blankly at the screen for about five minutes. Kane felt nothing, but Ryan was panicking, prompting him to remind Kane.

Only then did Kane shift his gaze away from the screen, sighing deeply, seemingly regretful for not being able to donate to Lani to overshadow Kazz. If he had known the situation would turn out like this, Kane would not hesitated to throw a few more punches at Kazz, compelling him to behave more decently as a human being.

"Alright, thank you for guiding me on how to deposit money. Do you usually watch live streams on this app?" Kane inquired, seemingly placing the issue on Ryan.

Ryan didn't understand why the issue was suddenly on him, but he answered, "Yes, occasionally I watch game livestreams; they can be quite interesting."

Kane nodded, handed the iPad to Ryan, and then spoke.

"Yeah, so this account is for you to use. Donate to whomever you want. Log in with this account on your phone," Kane said generously. Although Ryan was very surprised by this generosity, he didn't dare to ask, thanked him, and returned to his office.

...

In the evening, when Kane returned from work, Lani sat on the sofa, watching TV and laughing. Seeing Kane enter, she cheerfully ran over, barefoot, and hugged him.

"You're back! Was work tiring today?"

Kane, comfortably hugging Lani, stroked her soft and smooth hair, still faintly smelling of lavender hair conditioner. He spoke gently, "Did you finish the livestream early today?"

"Yeah, according to the schedule, I only needed to livestream for about 30 minutes and interact with the MC and fans. Since there will be a separate event for the new products this time, I didn't need to go live for too long."

Kane nodded, noticing Lani's bare feet now. He furrowed his brows, picked her up, and gently placed her on the sofa, reminding her, "Next time, don't run around barefoot; the floor is cold."

Lani nodded casually, and then, recalling the events of the afternoon and evening, she lowered her gaze, pouting as she shared with Kane, "You won't believe what happened today. A new actor I met for the first time tried to flirt with me and even caused trouble during my livestream."

Kane, of course, was well aware of what had happened, having punched Kazz earlier. But he pretended not to know and expressed surprise, asking if something had happened.

Lani leaned against Kane, summarizing the flirtation attempt by Kazz, and sighed, "I rejected him, but he either shamelessly doesn't get it or pretends not to understand human language."

Kane was still frustrated about Lani ending the livestream early, preventing him from donating. However, Lani, simply thinking that Kane was asking because he noticed her being home early, innocently nodded.

"But something magical happened. I don't know who the kind soul was, but someone gave Kazz a good beating this afternoon, leaving his face bruised and battered. Maybe because Kazz is living recklessly, causing trouble everywhere, someone decided to take revenge. Well-deserved, I must say."

As Lani brought up the incident, Kane's back tensed momentarily, and the motion of rubbing Lani's shoulders paused for a brief moment.

However, in the blink of an eye, he resumed his calm and unchanged expression, echoing Lani's sentiment that it was Kazz's comeuppance.

"Do you have any plans for tomorrow?" Kane's low, steady voice reached Lani's ears. She thought for a moment before responding.

"Yes, tomorrow I have to participate in a TV station's game show, broadcast live. I'll need to spend the entire morning recording, and I have no schedules in the afternoon and evening."

Kane nodded, quietly going over his tasks for the next day. In the morning, there were no crucial meetings for him, allowing him to catch some of the live broadcasts and take the opportunity to watch Lani's livestream.

After the conversation, Kane headed upstairs to shower and change. Upon returning to the kitchen to cook, Lani, this time, didn't stay idle in the living room watching TV. She went down to the kitchen, expressing her intention to help Kane with the cooking. However, Kane didn't want her to go through the trouble, so the only task assigned to Lani was washing and slicing cucumbers for the salad.

Despite feeling speechless at Kane's excessive pampering, Lani reluctantly accepted and carried out the task with a cheerful attitude.

The next day, Lani was roused early by a call from Aurora, reluctantly leaving her bed to prepare for the day's shoot at the studio. When Lani sat up, Kane enveloped her in a gentle embrace, his fingers softly running through her hair.

"Do you have to go to work already?" he asked.

Today, Lani had to wake up earlier than usual for the game show shoot, and she wasn't quite as alert. She nodded in a daze, giving Kane a light kiss before getting up and heading to the bathroom to brush her teeth.

Taking her time changing clothes, which took an extra fifteen minutes, Lani finally stepped out the door and settled into her familiar car.

"Good morning, Aurora," she greeted.

Before Lani could say more, she stifled a yawn, expressing her dissatisfaction with the early morning shoot. Aurora greeted her back and handed her a warm sandwich. The car was en route to the small countryside where the filming was taking place, and with plenty of time on the journey, Aurora seized the opportunity to chat. She moved closer to Lani, speaking in a hushed tone.

"Hey, have you heard the news? There was some incredibly shocking news last night."

Aurora, who enjoyed keeping up with drama, was particularly sensitive to news. In the face of her intrigued gaze, Lani shook her head. Knowing that she had an early shoot today, Kane had accompanied her to bed early the previous night, and both of them were peacefully asleep before 10 PM.

"Kazz's career is over. Last night, one of his girlfriends accused him of cheating, revealing that besides being in a relationship with her, he had two other girlfriends. The evidence is crystal clear, and there's even a video of Kazz passionately kissing those two girls in a hotel."

"Kazz has no way to deny it anymore, and in the future, it'll probably be challenging for him to land new roles. Regardless, the films he's worked on will likely face audience boycotts," Aurora excitedly said, showing Lani the updates.

Kazz's girlfriend presented a tight argument, her words sharp and precise, leaving Kazz with no room for rebuttal. Lani cheerfully read the comments and discovered that Kazz's girlfriend was a lawyer, explaining her impeccable reasoning.

"Yesterday, I was still trying to figure out how to address the rumors about Kazz and your relationship. Now, I don't need to worry about that anymore." Aurora concluded with a sense of relief.

"Everyone assumes that Kazz was harassing and flirting with you. Regardless, you never reciprocated, and in yesterday's livestream. And you even appeared indifferent when the MC mentioned Kane giving you a gift."

"Now, your fans are expressing sympathy for you pursued by Kazz," Aurora continued.

After just one night, public opinion had shifted.

Those who were happily proclaiming Kazz and Lani as a couple the day before were now apologizing to Lani for the misguided assumptions.

Aurora found herself spared from many troubles and took delight in seeing the man who caused the commotion receiving criticism from netizens.

Meanwhile, Lani was thoroughly enjoying reading through each comment. The fans were vehemently scolding Kazz.

Kazz always maintains the image of a sentimental, gentle, and loyal young man. But the news that he was in a love triangle with three girls showed that he deceived his fans for a long time.

Arriving at the film set, Lani remained engrossed in the unfolding drama. Aurora quickly retrieved her phone and led Lani to the makeup room.

Today, Lani's makeup layout was simple and gentle, complementing her bright yellow dress, and giving her a look that was both pure and radiant.

As the filming time approached, Lani headed towards the set, while Aurora chose to sit in a distant corner to observe.

Entering the broadcasting area with a cheerful mood, a sweet smile adorned Lani's lips. However, upon glancing at the corner where two people were sitting, her smile seemed to stiffen.

Lani had previously reviewed the guest list. It consisted of people she knew and had a good relationship with. However, two individuals had scheduling conflicts and couldn't make it.

Lani had assumed they would choose two celebrities as replacements. To her surprise, the replacement guests turned out to be Hebe and Amory.

Chapter 17

Lani quickly adjusted her emotions, waving to the other guests and the audience watching the broadcast. However, Hebe seemed unwilling to stay quiet. She embraced Amory, resting her head on his shoulder, and casually waved to Lani.

"Lani, there's a seat here. Come sit near me," Hebe insisted.

Lani had initially wanted to sit next to Kazuma, a male singer she was close to, but with Hebe making such a statement on live television, she had no choice but to force a smile and take a seat. Hebe, in turn, leaned even closer to Amory,

seemingly trying to make Lani uncomfortable and upset. However, Lani remained composed, only smirking in response.

Ever since Amory cheated on Hebe, Lani has intensely despised Amory. A man whom any woman could successfully woo, much like a public restroom. Hebe engaged in an affair with Amory just to spite Lani, thinking it wouldn't be dirty, but it only made Lani feel nauseated to the point of wanting to stay away.

At this moment, another female singer arrived, and the filming officially began. Looking around, Lani observed that besides her, there were four other participants in the game show.

Kazuma, a renowned male singer known for his sweet love songs, had a large fan base due to his long-standing popularity.

Daisy, a female singer who debuted six months ago, had recently gained prominence with catchy ballad music, showcasing talent, and beauty. The other two participants were none other than Hebe and Amory.

With everyone present, the director announced the format for the first episode of the game show. Participants would divided into two teams—one with two members and the other with three. They would then embark on tasks together,

experiencing the life of rural farmers in the countryside, from plowing fields to harvesting vegetables for their lunch. The activities even included milking cows.

As they all approached the box containing the draw numbers to determine the teams, Lani, with an expression, silently prayed not to end up on the same team as Hebe or Amory.

However, life had other plans for her. She found herself in a team with Hebe and Kazuma.

Fortunately, Kazuma's presence in the group eased Lani's worries. Without him, she feared she and Hebe might engage in direct arguments during the game show.

After forming a team, the trio's mission was to till the soil for vegetable cultivation. For a group with two girls, this task proved exceptionally challenging, prompting a wave of sympathy from fans of both.

"Poor Hebe. Her delicate, youthful skin – I wonder if that wooden hoe will leave any scratches on her hands?"

"Lani, on the other hand, with her slender figure, must be struggling with the assigned task. The program organizers truly have given them an authentic taste of rural life."

"But Daisy and Amory's team isn't faring any better. They have to split firewood to fuel the cooking fire for five people. In this day and age, using a traditional stove seems almost archaic. My parents might not have even used one."

Indeed, the challenges faced by Lani's team were formidable, but the other group wasn't faring any differently. The current comments expressed astonishment at the program's cruelty, arranging grueling tasks for the participants.

Upon reaching the task site, Kazuma, recognizing Lani and Hebe as two delicate girls unsuited for strenuous work, chivalrously spoke up.

"Leave everything to me in a little while. After all, I am a man, and tilling the land won't be too strenuous. You two can find a shady spot to rest for a while; the sun is shining bright."

Lani knew Kazuma was quite gallant and courteous towards women, but the plot of land they had to cultivate for vegetables this time was substantial. It was beyond Kazuma's capacity to handle it alone.

Not to mention, in the early days when Doris married her father, especially after Hebe was born, Lani had endured bullying for a long time. She had done many strenuous tasks at home. So, for her, tilling the soil for vegetable cultivation wasn't too challenging.

"No worries, let me handle it. I haven't become that weak yet, and besides, it wouldn't be fair for you to do all the work.”

Hebe, upon hearing Kazuma's suggestion, happily assumed that she could sit under a tree to enjoy the shade. However, Lani had a different reaction. She bit her lip, finally showing a willingness to work.

"That's right, Kazuma. I've done many household chores at home before, so I'm used to it. Just let me do it."

After saying this, Hebe intentionally glanced at Lani. Lani smiled coldly; how could she not understand Hebe's intention?

The fact that She and Hebe were step sisters in both the entertainment industry and in the eyes of their fans was widely known. Currently, Hebe is in front of the camera, talking about the hardships at home, indirectly condemning Lani as cruel and accusing her of bullying her step-sister.

Lani had never been the kind of person bullied. She raised her eyebrows, feigned surprise, and asked, arms crossed, "So, does that mean your mother forced you to do housework, Hebe? When I was at home, your mother treated you like a princess. How come life has become so difficult just a few years after moving out?"

Hebe's face turned pale, clearly not expecting Lani to counter her. She smirked, suppressing her anger, and replied, "She wasn't forcing me; I just enjoy cleaning and cooking. What I meant is, I usually like doing housework at home, so tilling the soil for this shouldn't be too hard."

Lani only chuckled without responding, glancing at Kazuma, and then walked ahead. Kazuma could considered a close friend of Lani, understanding the complex situation in her family and also knowing what kind of person Hebe was. Both he and Lani remained silent, and Hebe, feeling embarrassed, reluctantly followed along.

When the three arrived at the task location, the show's production team handed them three hoes and seeds and then provided instructions on what to do. Kazuma and Lani quickly absorbed the information, effortlessly donning their hats and grabbing the tools, executing fluid and skillful movements. As for Hebe, who had boasted about being diligent at home, she gritted her teeth and worked hard to appear as proficient as possible.

Since the camera was far away, Kazuma, speaking softly to Lani, remarked, "Your stepsister is truly ruthless, not even sparing you on a game show. You need to be careful."

"But I have to admit, she's daring. Just by looking at her, I can guess she never has to do household chores, yet she's trying to appear skilled at it," Kazuma added.

Lani chuckled comfortably, focusing on tilling the soil without paying attention to Hebe. "Forget about her; just pretend you don't hear or see anything. Don't let her affect our mood."

Kazuma nodded, then suddenly remembered something. He glanced around, not seeing any cameras nearby, and lowered his voice to ask Lani, "I heard Aurora say you're married. Who did you marry? Is it someone from the entertainment industry, and do I know them?’’

Thinking about Kane, Lani's lips curled slightly, and her mood relaxed. She leaned closer to Kazuma to ensure nobody could hear their conversation and quietly responded.

"Yeah, just got married. Hebe flirted with Amory, and I caught her in the act. In a moment of impulsiveness, I got married," Lani shared with a playful tone.

"He's just an ordinary office worker but has a great personality. Life lately has been very comfortable.

Right now, I'm satisfied with this married life," she continued.

Being a close friend of Lani, Kazuma genuinely wished for her happiness. He looked into Lani's sparkling eyes and gentle smile and sighed with relief. "Well, that's good then. I'm afraid you'd fall for some bad boys and regret getting married. Right now, I'm relieved."

Lani laughed too, her discomfort from encountering Amory and Hebe in the current setting fading away.

The two chatted happily, but someone else wasn't as cheerful. Kane watches his iPad's screen in another office room, staring intently at the unblinking screen. His brows furrowed, lips pressed together, his displeasure evident.

On the screen, the image showed Kazuma and Lani working side by side, each holding a hoe, diligently tilling the soil. The demanding task didn't dampen their spirits; they laughed together occasionally, and Kazuma would sometimes tilt his head to look at Lani, his eyes filled with tenderness. Moreover, standing next to each other, they looked harmonious as a couple.

Fans were praising the sweet atmosphere between Kazuma and Lani.

"Lani is tilling the soil with ease that no sigh is heard. Is it because standing next to Kazuma gives her extra strength? This love power is sweet."

"Look at the way Kazuma gazes at Lani, full of admiration, pampering, and tenderness – the look of a young man in love with his girl."

Chapter 18

"Just now, I don't know what Kazuma said, but Lani was giggling, a bit shy even. Could it be that Kazuma just whispered some sweet words, making Lani blush?"

As Kane read the comments, his mood worsened, and his grip on his hand tightened. He still wanted to refute so he directly replied to comments under the livestream.

"It's clear this is just a relaxed atmosphere when friends chat. Moreover, who knows if Lani already has a husband?"

His comments quickly received angry replies from the fans.

"Who are you to speak so recklessly and falsely accuse Lani? She has never had any love scandal with any male celebrity. How could she have a husband?"

"Even her past boyfriends were never publicly revealed. How could she be married?"

"Whose fan are you? Are you here to smear Lani?"

Kane, feeling helpless, narrowed his eyes. His mood was unpleasant, but he couldn't refute those comments. They were right. Lani had never mentioned anything about Him before the media.

Their marriage was just on paper, a hasty decision made in a moment of impulsiveness. He had no right to be jealous or angry when she interacted cheerfully with another man. He had no authority to act like that.

After finishing the soil tilling, they worked together to sow the seeds. Kazuma took charge of watering at the back, while Lani and Hebe were responsible for sowing the seeds at the front.

During the work, Hebe always intentionally stood next to Lani, using a soft voice to make teasing remarks.

"Didn't expect to run into you here. What a bad luck. Earlier, you deliberately agreed to work with Kazuma and stood near him, leaving me alone in a corner. Was that on purpose?"

"You wicked person, no wonder Amory finds you annoying."

Hebe wanted to use provocative words to make Lani angry, but it was ineffective. Lani just raised an indifferent eyebrow, uttered a nonchalant "hmm," and continued focusing on sowing the seeds.

"Are you deaf? Do you want to hear what your ex-boyfriend has to say about you? Amory has said a lot."

"He said you only know how to pretend to be noble, always acting superior to others, making people nauseous."

"He also said your personality is blander than plain water, and even holding hands with you feels awkward and unappealing."

"He said I surpass you in many ways. I'm younger, more beautiful, and more charming than you. Our nightlife is quite rich, by the way."

The more Hebe tried to speak, the more bored Lani felt. She paused in her movements, tilting her head to look at Hebe.

"Hey, don't you feel childish boasting about stealing something cheap everywhere? Aren't you embarrassed?"

"I haven't wanted to scold you, and here you are trying to provoke me. Don't blame me for not warning you; I won't hesitate to expose the disgusting affair between you two."

"So, be a bit sensible and keep quiet in front of me. I'm not a gentle person."

After sowing the seeds for the last row of plants, Lani wiped her hands and stood up, leaving. Hebe, like a parrot, continued to talk incessantly, giving Lani a headache.

Fortunately, they finished the task and returned to the initial location to eat lunch prepared by Amory and Daisy. The atmosphere seemed more relaxed now, perhaps because Lani had issued a warning, and Hebe didn't dare to speak randomly anymore. Lani sighed with relief.

After lunch, the director introduced the task for the next week. Finally, the filming session came to an end.

Lani and Aurora went to the dressing room together, where Aurora began discussing the day's events.

"Today, you performed quite well. Fortunately, when Hebe spoke ill of you, you promptly refuted it. Next time, if possible, stay away from Hebe. Looking at her from a distance makes me feel nauseous for you."

As Lani removed her makeup, she nodded in agreement. After changing her clothes, she and Aurora got into the car to return to their city. After a morning of filming, Lani couldn't help but miss Kane. She wondered what he was doing now.

Once home, Lani dropped her bag onto the bed and headed for a shower, washing away the uncomfortable feeling in her body. After a morning of work, she felt sweat all over.

Then, Lani checked the clock; it was already three in the afternoon. Following her usual routine, she lay on the sofa to watch a movie. It seemed that recently, Kane had spoiled her to the point of laziness. If she could lie down, she wouldn't sit.

And if she could sit, she wouldn't stand. Just a little work would make her feel tired and sore.

In the past, even after a task like plowing the land, she found it normal to continue filming into the afternoon. But now, after a direct half-day shoot, she was exhausted to the point where she just wanted to stretch out on the sofa.

Being too pampered was not a good thing. Thinking about filming all day next week, Lani involuntarily furrowed her brow. The idea of it made her feel tired and wanted to escape.

Time flew by quickly while Lani was engrossed in watching a movie, and Kane had already returned. Upon seeing Kane, Lani's eyes sparkled, and before she could utter a greeting, Kane swiftly loosened his tie, unbuttoned the top of his shirt, and briskly approached her.

Just as Lani was about to react, Kane, seemingly out of nowhere, had reached the sofa and leaned in towards Lani. His hands cupped her face, and his lips descended for a kiss.

Unlike their usual gentle and tender kisses, Kane's kiss was intense, as if he wanted to claim every breath of Lani's. Initially, Lani responded by reciprocating the kiss but soon found herself unable to resist, succumbing to Kane's passionate embrace. As Lani, nearly breathless, lightly tapped Kane's shoulder, he reluctantly released her lips.

At this point, Lani's lips were flushed and her eyes shimmering with moisture, her face a captivating mix of ecstasy and dreaminess, incredibly alluring.

Kane, swallowing a gulp, couldn't resist and leaned in to kiss Lani again, this time more tenderly, his hand gently cradling her chin and softly caressing.

"Lani, let's make it public, shall we?" he whispered.

Kane gently nibbled on Lani's lips, his voice husky.

Lost in the haze of recent kisses, Lani, still in a dreamy state, couldn't quite catch Kane's words as his voice was soft. After a while, Lani became more alert and, somewhat dazed, asked, "Huh, what did you just say?"

Kane shook his head, lowering his gaze to conceal the vulnerability, casually stating, "I said I miss you. Did you remember me while you were filming the game show today?"

Lani nodded, still lightly embracing Kane. Following their habit, she nestled against him, wrapping her arms around his waist and snuggling close. "Yes, I missed you a lot today, every moment," she replied.

Though Kane couldn't discern whether Lani's words were genuine or meant to please him, he felt content. Holding Lani tightly, his mood suddenly lifted.

He didn't concern himself whether Lani engaged in intimate conversations with other men. After all, at this moment, Lani was actively hugging him and expressing her longing. Just moments ago, they were passionately kissing.

That was enough for now.
