Chapter 19
This evening, a married couple visited the restaurant with their seven-year-old son, who was energetic and constantly crying, demanding ice cream, and no matter how much they tried to soothe him, he wouldn't quiet down. The helpless woman looked at Annie and called her, saying, "Could you please run to the nearby convenience store and buy my son an ice cream? I'm sorry, he's crying so much, and I don't know what else to do."
At the restaurant, they need to do everything that customers require, and Annie found the task straightforward. She nodded in agreement. The mother seemed a little embarrassed about bothering her and handed Annie $50 to purchase the ice cream, telling her to keep the change.
Annie nodded her thanks and hurriedly dashed outside. There was a large convenience store near their restaurant, about a seven-minute walk away. Annie quickly selected a few types of kid-friendly ice creams and paid for them. On her way back, the sky suddenly poured rain, drenching her smooth hair and her restaurant uniform.
Annie sighed as she encountered this sudden change in weather, and she hurriedly ran towards the restaurant. By the time she reached it, she was already soaked over a large area.
The mother appeared embarrassed in this situation and kept apologizing to Annie for asking her to go out and get caught in the rain. Annie kept smiling and reassuring her, then handed ice cream to her son, who joyfully exclaimed and eventually stopped making a fuss.
The mother still seemed to feel guilty, so she tipped Annie an extra hundred dollars. Annie refused a few times but eventually accepted, thanking her, and then returned to her position. She didn't have spare clothes to change into, and it was almost time to finish work, so she didn't pay much attention. She just took the towel from Denis's hand to dry her hair and clothes.
After finishing work, Annie suddenly felt tired and had a slight headache, possibly because she had been caught in the rain. She decided to call her private driver to pick her up. Since moving in with Finn, he had arranged a private driver for her convenience, but Annie often felt it was extravagant and usually walked to work like she used to. As she sat in the car for a while, the discomfort intensified, to the point that Annie started feeling drowsy and instinctively entered her room when the car stopped in front of her house.
Annie was so fatigued that she could barely move, but she managed to change into dry pajamas and take a fever-reducing medicine before resting on her bed. She had experienced illnesses like this before, and a good night's sleep was usually enough to recover.
Annie didn't know how long she had been asleep, but when she woke up in a daze, she saw Keelin beside her, looking anxious and continuously touching her forehead.
"Sofia, you have a fever. Please wait for a moment while I get some medicine for you."
Keelin swiftly turned and skillfully handed Annie a fever-reducing pill, and Annie furrowed her brows, swallowing it all. Perhaps her body temperature was high, and she felt her forehead burning. She was weak and could only gaze blankly in Keelin's direction.
"Lie down and rest a little more. I'll go to make some porridge for you. You haven't eaten anything since this afternoon," Keelin said.
Once Keelin finished cooking, she had planned to call Annie down for dinner. However, when she called Annie repeatedly and received no response, she became increasingly worried. She pushed the door open and found Annie lying on the bed, looking disoriented and with a suspiciously flushed complexion. This situation truly frightened her.
Not long after Keelin left, the bedroom door opened again, and Finn entered slowly. He saw Annie lying on the bed, looking somewhat fragile, her face pale and buried in the soft pillow. Her usually moist lips had turned pale, and there was a thin layer of sweat on her forehead.
She squinted her eyes weakly, appearing both vulnerable and pitiable, which drew Finn closer. He went into the bathroom, took a clean white towel, soaked it carefully, and then placed it on Annie's forehead to help reduce her fever.
At this moment, Annie seemed to be in a daze, and when Finn placed the towel on her forehead, she didn't open her eyes, just tilting her head slightly to the side. Finn sat there quietly, resembling a statue, as he had done a while ago when Keelin was cooking. Occasionally, he caught snippets of what Annie mumbled in her delirium.
"Sofia, do you feel any better? Is there anything you need?" Finn asked, his voice filled with concern.
Perhaps due to the side effects of the medication, Annie felt drowsy, and the sounds around her seemed distant as if separated by a thin veil. She couldn't quite make out what Finn was saying; she only registered a deep, low voice disturbing her tranquil state. Annie furrowed her brow and tilted her head to one side, uttering a faint "hmm" in response. Finn, fearing that Annie might faint, continued to say, as if having a one-sided conversation.
"So, do you like him a lot?"
Finn revisited this topic after a while, as it was a constant concern on his mind recently. He didn't want to mention Denis by name, but he figured Annie could understand.
However, Annie still couldn't hear Finn's question, just as before. She remained unfazed by the constant disturbance in her ears, giving another soft "hmm" in response.
Finn fell silent.
His assumption was, indeed, accurate. Annie truly liked Denis. Perhaps all his thoughts about the relationship between Annie and Denis were correct; both of them had a mutual attraction, but because Annie was Finn's fiancée, they couldn't come together. Finn was the obstacle on their path of romance, he sadly contemplated.
He lowered his voice and sighed deeply, and his mood followed suit, sinking into a profound sadness. By the time Keelin returned with the porridge she had prepared for Annie, she walked in on a scene where Annie was peacefully asleep on the bed and Finn sat there in silent contemplation, his complexion ashen, as if he had just experienced an enormous shock in his life.
"Go ahead and feed Sofia her porridge. I was just passing by earlier, so I sat here to keep an eye on her for a while," Finn said, his tone still as cold as ever, but Keelin sensed that something had changed. However, she couldn't quite figure it out, only gazing at Finn in bewilderment as he got up and left. She then woke Annie and fed her the porridge in her groggy state.
After finishing a bowl of porridge, Annie's fever had subsided, and Keelin gently encouraged her to continue sleeping, sitting by her side to watch over her throughout the night. During that night, Finn never returned to Annie's room, not even once.
Chapter 20: Taylor
After a night of deep, restful sleep, Annie woke up feeling significantly better in the morning. She furrowed her brows, gazing at the familiar white ceiling. She reached out to sit in bed and suddenly noticed a figure sleeping soundly beside her.
"Is Sofia awake already? Do you still feel uncomfortable anywhere?" she inquired.
Sofia, still groggy, shook her head, indicating that she was feeling okay, aside from a slight headache. Annie's condition had improved, and Keelin had helped her double-check her body temperature, putting Annie's mind at ease.
Yesterday had been a frightening experience for her.
"Are you hungry? Let me make some porridge for you, okay? Recovering patients need to eat well to regain their strength," Keelin softly said, running her fingers through Annie's hair. Her gentle and caring tone made Annie suddenly miss her mother. Annie nodded with pursed lips and attempted to sit up, only to be gently assisted by Keelin.
"Brush your teeth, and I'll have some hot porridge ready for you in a bit," Keelin advised before leaving.
Annie went into the personal bathroom and freshened up before heading down to the kitchen. As she passed by Finn's room, she noticed the door remained tightly shut, and her gaze briefly displayed a complex mix of emotions before swiftly vanishing.
Annie waited in the kitchen for a little while, and Keelin had finished preparing the nutritious porridge, which included minced meat, shrimp, and a touch of pickled greens. Annie found the meal delicious, perhaps because she had only eaten a small bowl of porridge the previous evening, leaving her quite hungry. Her small mouth repeatedly puffed up as she savored each bite.
Once she finished her meal, Annie had some free time and sat on the soft sofa, leaning into the plush cushions Keelin had provided. She tilted her head to look towards the staircase, noticing that Finn had yet to appear. She opened her mouth to inquire and learned from Keelin that he had already had breakfast early in the morning, and lunch was scheduled to be brought to Finn's room by Keelin herself.
Annie sighed, finding Finn's avoidance quite evident.
As she was still feeling somewhat down, Annie received a call from Taylor, a close friend when they were in high school. They had been extremely close during their school years, but after finishing high school, Taylor had gone abroad to study and work, and it had been a while since they last met.
Now, Taylor was back in town and excitedly called Annie, suggesting they meet up. Annie missed her old friend and agreed wholeheartedly.
"All right, how about 2 o'clock this afternoon? I'll come pick you up in my new red Roll-Royce that I just got, haha. Could you tell me your address so I can swing by?"
Taylor was a bona fide heiress from a wealthy family, while Annie came from a humble background. On the surface, they appeared to have nothing in common, but Taylor admired Annie's resilience and intelligence, and their friendship had grown remarkably strong over time.
Annie recited Finn's address and could hear the excited tone in Taylor's voice through the phone.
"What? You live there now, Annie? Have you struck it rich?" Taylor exclaimed.
"Although I've just returned to the country, I know that's an extremely posh neighborhood, and the prices of those houses are truly through the roof. What are you doing to be so wealthy?" Annie chuckled and said she would explain later, swiftly changing the topic. Taylor readily moved on from the subject, and the two friends continued to chat animatedly before hanging up.
In the afternoon, Annie intentionally wore a black, strappy dress that revealed her delicate shoulders and alluring collarbones. The layered hem of her dress flowed gracefully with each step, adding an air of charm to her appearance. It was a dress that Sofia had bought for her, and Annie had fallen in love with it. She also applied light makeup, and her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, giving her an elegant and beautiful look.
After Taylor's call, Annie grabbed her bag and went downstairs, coincidentally running into Keelin. Keelin seemed momentarily taken aback by Annie's fresh and elegant appearance and the dress she was wearing, but after a brief pause, she reacted.
"Sofia, do you want to go out?" Annie nodded, flashing a bright smile before quickly heading downstairs.
"Yes, I have plans to go out with a friend. I'll be having dinner out, so you don't need to cook for me tonight."
Annie passed by Keelin and rushed outside, leaving the refreshing scent of citrus lingering in the air. Even after Annie had disappeared behind the door, Keelin continued to mutter to herself.
"Sofia looks so beautiful today. She rarely dresses up and does her makeup like this."
Since Annie had arrived at Finn's house, she had always been modest, mostly wearing simple home clothes, most of which were her own. Therefore, this could be considered the first time Keelin had seen Annie looking so youthful and radiant.
"Who looks beautiful?" At that moment, Finn leisurely descended the stairs, and upon hearing Keelin's conversation, he asked.
Keelin tilted her head to look at Finn, who was dressed in a custom-made black suit with an elegant black tie, once again appearing surprised. What was going on today that both Annie and Finn were dressed so elegantly?
"Oh, I was just praising Sofia for looking beautiful. She's wearing a flared strapless dress today, with light makeup, and she looks so sweet. If I were a man, I'd definitely fall in love with her immediately," Keelin replied. Finn furrowed his brows slightly and inquired, "Why is she going out?"
Finn's tone seemed a bit colder than usual, but Keelin was lost in thought about Annie's recent appearance, so she didn't pay much attention. She nodded and then suddenly remembered that Finn was visually impaired.
"Right. Sofia said she would go out to meet a friend."
Thinking that the friend might be Denis, Finn's gaze instinctively narrowed. Although he had said he wanted to let Annie go and be with Denis, the idea of Annie happily dressing up and going on a date with someone else made him feel a hint of anger and jealousy.
"Oh, I have to go out as well now and won't be back for dinner," Finn grumbled before leaving, leaving Keelin in a state of confusion. It was only at that moment that she realized that Finn's tone earlier had been somewhat different from usual.
As for Finn, after leaving the house, he stepped into the waiting Maybach. His professional secretary, Max, provided an update on the recent developments of his company, while Finn reclined in the back seat, occasionally giving a few instructions.
"Now, let's meet with the client first," he instructed.
Max nodded and drove to the restaurant where they had a prior appointment with the client. They entered together.
Chapter 21
As for Annie, after reuniting with Taylor, both of them happily went shopping at the city's largest mall. Taylor was a shopping enthusiast, so she swiftly accumulated several shopping bags from various high-end brands, with Taylor continuously pulling Annie into different stores.
Annie maintained her frugal spending habits, only purchasing a few reasonably priced outfits from budget-friendly brands and buying a few warm clothing for her mother. Taylor also bought Annie some items from famous brands and a Dream necklace. Annie was embarrassed to accept the necklace after seeing its price tag.
"Don't be shy with me, Annie, we're close friends. Besides, you'll look beautiful wearing this necklace," Taylor generously swiped her card, satisfied with the silver necklace featuring a sparkling swan pendant around Annie's neck. The delicate chain accentuated Annie's slender neck and alluring collarbones, and the swan was adorned with numerous precious stones, making it bright and eye-catching. Annie, feeling that Taylor had already completed the payment, hesitantly expressed her gratitude.
"All right, stop being so modest. Consider this an early birthday gift from me to you. I'm hungry now; let's go grab something to eat."
Taylor had tired of shopping after a round, and she cheerfully pulled Annie into a nearby bubble tea shop. They enjoyed bubble tea and some snacks.
"Oh, by the way, how's your stay at the luxurious mansion this morning? Are you becoming wealthy?" Taylor took a sip of taro bubble tea and curiously inquired. She was well aware of Annie's background from their time in school, so she had a sudden realization and asked with an uncertain tone, "Or is it your father's house? Did your father pick you up to live with his spoiled little sister and his ill-tempered stepmother?"
"Poor Annie, does that mean you've been constantly bullied these past few years? You..."
Seeing Taylor's thoughts starting to drift away from reality, Annie laughed and explained the situation, openly sharing with Taylor the fact that she was pretending to be Sofia, Finn's fiancée, taking care of him.
"Why would you do something so foolish, Annie? Sofia doesn't want to endure hardship and looks down on Finn for being blind, which is why she pushes the task of taking care of him onto you. If, in the future, Finn regains his sight or manages to get rid of the foolish stepbrother Hubert and becomes the CEO, Sofia will push you away and act as if she's always been the one taking care of Finn to enjoy the wealthy life."
"This deal doesn't benefit you, so why did you accept it? If you need money, you can always come to me. We're best friends, so why didn't you ask to borrow money from me?" Taylor asked, concerned.
Annie chuckled softly, acknowledging that she had considered borrowing money from Taylor. However, the surgical fee was truly substantial, and even after borrowing, she wouldn't have had the means to repay it. She might have taken decades to repay the debt. Therefore, accepting the role of pretending to be Sofia, while not the smartest decision, had seemed like the best option at the time.
"As soon as I mention Sofia, it's already irritating, now I even met her by chance."
Taylor suddenly curled her lips, showing clear disdain. Ever since hearing Annie's account of Sofia, Taylor had developed a strong aversion to her. Following Taylor's gaze, Annie saw Sofia in a flared strapless dress similar to hers, with the only difference being an added strip of white lace at the hem, giving it an even more elegant look.
Sofia was intimately holding hands with a blond man, entering an expensive jewelry store next door. She rested her head on his shoulder, flashing a charming smile, and the two seemed to be whispering something that made her burst into cheerful laughter. Annie only glanced for a moment before tilting her head and continuing the conversation with Taylor. That's when she heard a mocking tone.
"Annie, that's probably Sofia's new boyfriend, right? I've heard some of my friends back say that Sofia changes boyfriends every month. Her personal love life is extremely promiscuous. Finn is a blind man, so he can't sleep with her like normal men, which might be why Sofia dislikes Finn."
Taylor whispered, and Annie merely smiled, brushing off the topic. Even though they were identical twins, Annie and Sofia had nearly opposite personalities, which often left Taylor in awe.
While Annie and Taylor were happily snacking at the bubble tea shop, Finn and Max had arrived at a famous restaurant in the city for dinner after signing a contract with their client. While waiting for their food to be served, Max absentmindedly glanced out the window, then pointed forward, hastily telling Finn, "Isn't that Sofia, your fiancée? I see her holding hands with a man, looking very intimate. Could she be having an affair?"
Finn followed Max's direction and saw a woman in the distance who bore a striking resemblance to Sofia. Moreover, he recalled Keelin's compliment earlier in the day that Sofia was wearing a lovely flared strapless dress with her hair down, and this woman's appearance matched perfectly with the outfit and her flowing hair.
Instinctively, Finn furrowed his brow, gazing intently at the woman and faintly hearing an exclamation from Max.
"I've heard about Sofia's chaotic personal life before, having had quite a few boyfriends. But I didn't expect her to become your fiancée and still be out dating other guys."
"Do you want to expose Sofia's promiscuous behavior?"
While Max continued to grumble, Finn's gaze shifted from anger and heartache to calm. He casually lifted a glass of water to take a sip and then replied, "This girl is not Sofia."
Max still wanted to say something in rebuttal because he had also met Sofia a few times before. Her haughty yet seductive demeanor was unmistakable. However, Finn gently tapped on the table a few times and calmly stated, "I'm certain that's not Sofia. We've been together for a while now; don't tell me I can't recognize my fiancée."
At this point, Max finally nodded, took a sip of water, and didn't pursue the topic any further.
Chapter 22
Annie and Taylor left the bubble tea shop, their excitement carrying over as they continued their shopping spree. Taylor seemed thrilled about spending money, eagerly buying whatever caught their eye to the point that when they left, most of the shopping bags in the car's trunk belonged to Taylor.
After another tiring round of shopping, they both decided to head to a highly-rated nearby barbecue restaurant, enjoying a delightful dinner together. It appeared that this meeting had lightened Annie's mood considerably, as her smile remained a constant fixture.
After arriving home, Annie changed into her cozy slippers, put away her shopping bags, cleaned up, and then happily made her way to the kitchen.
She had not anticipated running into Finn at this moment, so she was a bit taken aback by his busy figure. Of course, Finn also noticed Annie, but he was so engrossed in his work that he didn't pay her any mind, continuing to play the role of a blind person carefully heating water to brew coffee.
Lately, Finn's company had taken on a new project, which naturally meant he had more work than usual and was far from as relaxed as he used to be. He needed the coffee to stay alert and focused while working. With Annie by his side, his movements were less graceful than usual. Concerned that he might get burned, Annie wanted to step in and help but only received a polite refusal from Finn.
"You may dislike me," she said, "but when pouring hot water, you could get burned. Let me handle it for you."
Annie had said so, and Finn had no choice but to accept her assistance. He stepped back to allow Annie to help him make coffee, and the delightful aroma quickly filled the air, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Annie handed the coffee cup to Finn, who promptly accepted it. However, Annie was apprehensive that Finn might feel uncomfortable, so as soon as Finn's fingers grazed the cup, she hastily released her grip, avoiding any accidental touch. Little did she know that at that moment, Finn had not firmly held the cup, causing it to fall to the ground and shatter with a resounding crash.
The hot coffee spilled, scalding a portion of Annie's hand, and when she bent down to pick up the broken pieces, a shard of glass cut her hand, causing it to bleed.
Finn, alarmed by the sight of Annie's scalded and bleeding hands, forgot about pretending to be blind and rushed to lead Annie to a chair, where he swiftly grabbed ice to apply to the burn on her hand. He also helped her disinfect the wound on her hand.
"I'm sorry; it's because I didn't hold it properly," Finn apologized with a lowered head. He couldn't afford to be cold-hearted with Annie anymore. He only focused on earnestly helping her, his actions gentle and cautious, as if he feared causing her pain. Annie couldn't help but smile, touched by his concern.
"It's alright, I'm not that fragile," Annie reassured Finn with a faint smile.
Seeing that Finn was in relatively good shape now, Annie took a deep breath to gather her courage before hesitantly asking, "But can I ask why you've been avoiding me recently? Did I do something wrong, or did I make you angry?"
Annie had been looking after Finn with great care as she had received money from Sofia to look after him, treating it almost like a job. So, Finn's sudden avoidance and lack of response made her feel like she was failing in her duties.
These past few days, Annie had been constantly anxious, especially when Finn mentioned that she might leave. To her, this was akin to losing her job, and she would have to repay all the money she had received from Sofia to cover her mother's medical expenses.
Finn hadn't expected Annie to bring up the topic so directly, but he had no choice but to explain seriously. "I saw you with Denis that day, and you two looked great together. It would be best for you to be with him; there's nothing good for you here."
Finn's explanation was brief, but Annie quickly deciphered the source of all the recent strangeness in his behavior and his distant gaze. It made sense now, and she could know his thoughts.
Finn had already disinfected and bandaged Annie's hand, but he remained seated, looking directly at her, waiting for her response. He knew that after he had revealed all of this, there was a good chance that their relationship would be over. He sighed, realizing that Annie would likely leave soon.
"Why do you think that Denis and I could be in love? I only see him as a colleague. Regardless of your presence in my life, I have always turned him down," Annie explained. "Furthermore, I've told you many times, that you've never been a burden. I chose to be by your side willingly."
Finn's stubbornness and insecurity had made Annie unsure of what to do, and she felt the need to earnestly explain to him again to help him gain trust. Even though their cohabitation had been lengthy, she didn't want these misunderstandings to make Finn uncomfortable.
Annie talked about many things, but what mattered most to Finn was that she had no romantic interest in Denis and wouldn't pursue a relationship with him. In an instant, the burdens that had weighed on Finn's heart for so long seemed to dissipate into the wind, and he felt a sudden lightness and relief. Unintentionally, he even found his actions slightly childish.
Without further questioning, Annie had assumed that she and Denis were in love, and Finn was acting nobly to give her and Denis happiness. Looking back now, Finn felt like a complete fool.
"I'm sorry," he finally said, his voice tinged with regret.
Finn still felt somewhat embarrassed and didn't dare to look at Annie, but he couldn't help but recall the coldness and excessive behavior he had exhibited toward her in recent days. The more he thought about it, the more he felt ashamed. He even wished he could dig a hole and hide in it forever.
Annie saw that Finn had returned to normal, and a smile crept across her face. The misunderstanding had been resolved, and it had lifted her spirits considerably. She stood up, cocking her head to ask Finn, "Now that you understand, would you like a fresh cup of coffee?"
Finn quickly stood up upon hearing this and pulled Annie back into her seat. "No need, I can do it myself. Your hand is already like this; do you want to handle hot water?"
Annie chuckled and remembered her burnt hand, so she reluctantly watched Finn enter the kitchen to prepare a fresh cup of coffee.
With the misunderstanding resolved, their relationship seemed to be back on track, and both Annie and Finn were content with the outcome.
Chapter 23
The rekindling of Annie and Finn's relationship was a wonderful development. However, Finn's newfound closeness at times made Annie a bit withdrawn and hesitant. Having never been in a romantic relationship, let alone being physically close to a man, Annie struggled to adapt to Finn's sudden shift from being distant to gentle.
For instance, this afternoon, Annie and Finn leisurely sat together on a swing, comfortably reclining on a soft cushion behind them. Annie lazily closed her eyes, savoring the sensation of each breeze caressing her ears and hair, as if blowing away the burdens of everyday life.
They sat there well into the late afternoon, with the chilly autumn breeze bringing a shiver into the air. Annie wore a thin, long-sleeved dress, so her exposed legs felt a slight tremor in the cool air. She thought about getting up to fetch an additional blanket, and it seemed that Finn noticed her intention as he gracefully turned and gently urged her to remain seated.
Subsequently, Finn removed his jacket and delicately placed Annie's smooth, white legs upon his lap, using his jacket as a makeshift covering. A series of fluid motions left Annie momentarily lost in surprise until she felt warmth on her legs and caught a faint whiff of minty fragrance emanating from Finn's thin jacket.
With Annie suddenly raising her legs onto the swing, causing it to become somewhat cramped, they ended up sitting even closer to each other, and their legs lightly touched. Blushing with embarrassment, Annie wished to move back a bit, but Finn was quicker, pulling her to lean back against the soft cushion behind her and speaking in a gentle tone, "Are you still feeling cold?"
Annie nodded in bewilderment, unable to fathom how Finn, who was blind, could accurately drape a jacket over her legs and help her lean back against the cushion for added comfort. Could it be that his blindness made his other senses, such as hearing, more acute, allowing him to discern the position of things through sound? Lost in her thoughts, Annie inadvertently displayed a somewhat puzzled expression, failing to notice the faint smirk at the corner of Finn's lips and the playfulness dancing in his eyes.
"Tomorrow, you and I have to join a party," Finn suggested. "Just being there is enough. It's not important, so don't worry."
It was the first time Finn had proposed that Annie accompany him to an event, and she didn't press for more details. The intricacies of relationships in the billionaire world were beyond her comprehension. If Finn said it wasn't a big deal, she wouldn't question it too much. She decided to treat it as a task to fulfill.
The two of them continued to lazily sway on the swing, enjoying the breeze until Keelin called them for dinner, signaling the end of their relaxing interlude. It was a rare occasion when the three of them sat together at the dinner table, sharing a meal that improved everyone's spirits.
As usual, Keelin and Annie engaged in conversation, while Finn remained quiet, occasionally curving his lips slightly as he surreptitiously gazed at Annie's soft and delicate face.
After dinner, Annie returned to her room to continue watching a movie. Lately, she had discovered quite a few films with compelling plots and strong character performances, so she took any available free time seriously to indulge her newfound passion.
While Annie is engrossed in the love and hatred intertwining in the movie's main characters, a rhythmic knock on the door interrupts her thoughts.
"Sofia, are you available? Can you help me with something?" Finn's voice came through.
Annie quickly rose from the bed and opened the door, nearly having a nosebleed at the sight outside. Finn had just finished showering, wearing only a white bathrobe. Perhaps because he couldn't see well, the bathrobe was carelessly tied, revealing a hint of well-defined collarbones and a substantial chest. The intense scent of shower gel filled the air, blending with a masculine and alluring aroma that was particularly captivating.
Annie could easily imagine Finn's toned and enticing physique beneath the robe. She unconsciously swallowed, regaining her composure before responding, "What's up?"
Finn stifled a laugh and attempted to maintain a composed demeanor, finding that pretend to be blindness increasingly intriguing. He held up a black shaver and said, "Could you help me shave? Keelin got me a new shaver, and I'm not used to it. I don't know which button to press."
Annie looked at the new shaver in Finn's hand, realizing that she was just as clueless about it. She hesitated for a moment and then suggested, "Or should I go downstairs and call Keelin to help you? I've never used a shaver before, and I've never helped anyone shave."
Finn was pleased with her honest response, his brow slightly furrowing before he replied, "Keelin is probably asleep by now. There is no need to bother her. If you don't know, it's okay. I'll manage on my own."
Finn appeared a bit sad, his thin lips forming a tight line, and his eyes lowering with a hint of vulnerability. Annie, worried about Finn not being able to see, carefully fumbled with the shaver's buttons, all the while concerned that he might accidentally hurt himself in this way.
"Or should I help you?" she suggested. "I can look up how to use this online."
Finn readily agreed to her proposal, a glimmer of hope lighting up his eyes as he nodded hesitantly. He led Annie back into the room, handed her the shaver, and patiently sat on the bed, awaiting her guidance.
It took Annie about ten minutes to find instructions online before she pulled Finn into the bathroom. Initially, she thought it was just a routine task, but as she began, Annie felt increasingly uneasy.
Due to Finn's height, he had to bend down for Annie to help him apply shaving foam, and their proximity was such that Finn's warm breath continued to caress Annie's soft hair. Just a slight tilt of her head allowed her to see Finn's deep eyes, resolute eyebrows, prominent nose, and thin lips. And it only took a slight lean to be close enough to kiss his lips.
Most importantly, Finn was still wearing the same bathrobe he had on earlier, and he was bending down, so Annie could see his robust chest subtly outlined beneath the robe. Annie felt her breath catch in her throat.
She hastily applied the shaving foam and began to shave Finn, her movements slower than usual out of fear of accidentally injuring him. While Finn could see the embarrassment and shyness on Annie's face, he kept himself from laughing and instead marveled at her adorable demeanor, secretly wanting to tease her.
Nonetheless, he reminded himself not to rush things too much to avoid scaring Annie further.
After finishing the shave, Annie cleaned the shaver and stored it away, instructing Finn to wash his face, and then hurriedly left the bathroom. Finn watched her petite figure quickly disappear behind the door and chuckled, his eyes and eyebrows showing a gentle tenderness.
"You're a coward, Sofia" he murmured to himself.
