Chapter 31
"Oh hello Luke." Sapphire forced a smile. "My laptop is not working, I thought I could use the PC for a while since I have to submit the project by tomorrow. But I forgot the file I had to work on last night in Carl's room."
Luke was not convinced by her reply. "But why did you shut off the CCTV?"
Sapphire scratched her forehead above the eyebrow thinking of a reason for the escape. So far regarding dealing with Carl she had done her job perfectly with not invoking a trace of doubt on her.
"I forgot the password and during the attempts I might have switched off the CCTV."
Luke raised his eyebrow flabbergasted. "Did sir provide you with the password? The work desk contains all the important files regarding his business. That room and PC over there are inaccessible and out of bounds to any of us though we had been working for him for the past several years."
He was slowly getting under the nerves of Sapphire. First he spoiled her plan of accessing the room and now he was interrogating her like the judge in the court. "Yes he gave me the password." Sapphire spoke strictly, trying her best to keep her temper at bay.
"I thought you were not reaching Carl's bedroom but the closed one there." He pointed to the mysterious closed door standing at the foot of the staircase.
His eyes seemed like arrows aiming deep into her like she was a culprit. What was with this man, his probing was like never to reach an end. "I'm sorry you misunderstood me. What can I do by reaching the room which is locked?" She giggled like a schoolgirl.
Luke gave a close lipped smile and nodded but Sapphire was doubtful if he really believed her.

Carl seemed to not find any clue about how the police had disrupted his deal. The plan was executed with perfection and having no chance of a failure. But there was always his sixth sense hinting at the back of his mind that something was not right. There was somebody in his own group of people who was an informer of the police.
So far in his ten years of stepping into the mafia, he had never received these many setbacks. Adding to all the headaches he had Luke who was asking him the morning if he had given the password of the PC to Claire.
Carl doesn't remember giving his PC password to ClaireBut even if he gave it to her, he had no regrets because one day she had to learn things he does. He knows it is going to prick her but he plans many more days of his life with her and maybe little Claire and Carl will be running around their mansion.
Out of all the chaos taking place in his life, she was the only stable thing that happened to him. With his sister's situation, he was getting more and more gloomier by each day and without the support of the angel in his home, he would have been a mad man by now.
Claire waits every night for him to arrive home without having dinner and asks him how the work was during their meal though he would give her every night the same reply that it was good.
She has no idea about the true nature of his work and may not be able to help him in any way, nor would he like to involve her in his office headaches but it feels really good to know someone is waiting for him at home and really bothered about his well being.
Carl brought her in his arms, directed her head up cupping her cheeks and kissed her passionately with oozing love and belongingness.
Sapphire moaned into his mouth which spirited him with pleasure and his hands traveled down from her back reaching her buttocks and squeezed them.
Sapphire's legs got weak insinuated by lust and were almost about to give up but he held her firm in his arms for her not to reach the floor and smacked her lips like she was his possession.
"My love what I would have been without you in this difficult phase that I am crossing by? You're my breath which installs life in me every moment." He murmured between their kisses.
Sapphire on the other hand felt guilty of herself. She was exploiting him in the name of love. Holding his stubble filled cheeks in her little soft hands she raised up to her tippy toes and kissed him in a never ending yen of fondness. "I am sorry…so sorry my love. This was very much unplanned by me. I did not know we would be in a situation like this one day."
Carl did not like the least bit when Sapphire was crying. He immediately wiped her tears away. "You're not wrong anywhere that you have to apologize, my dear. On the other hand you're the woman who gave me a new life. After my wife's death I merely existed. I did not have any reason to live. You know when she was killed, Stephanie was in a family way. I lost my child along with her." He blinked continuously to restrain his tears.
It was the first time Carl was opening up to her about his wife. "I know you would have read so much about me in the net and newspapers. All of that is not the truth. I loved my wife like my breath. She was a part of me and on the day she died a quarter of me left with her. That's why I do not like to talk about her in public. I deliberately deleted everything concerning her from the net, so that people will stop discussing things about her."
He held her tighter in his arms like she was his strength to say it. "Bringing up her topic makes me crippled. I went sleeping around with every female species on earth to numb my pain but no woman could heal the wound existent in my heart. I thought I would soon join Stephanie in heaven." Sapphire immediately shut his words by plastering her palm on his lips.
He looked down at her in pure love and slowly brought down her hand. "But then you came. Today things are worse than they were in the past. Nevertheless, I will not succumb to bits like before because I know you will not allow that to happen." He snogged her in rapture and then continued again.
"Very recently my club was enwreathed by the cops and I missed a very important deal. But the positive news is that my employees are perfect in handling their duties. No sooner had they found the cops surrounding us the electricity was cut off and we were out of the secret passage. No casualties were reported and thankfully no evidence was found.
