Chapter 13
“Sir, you have a meeting in five minutes,” a feminine voice called from outside.
Her voice followed by a series of knocks that broke whatever was fueling between us, leaving only an embarrassed tension.
He finally took his eyes away from me to stare at the door, his expression blazing with anger as if he was annoyed at the disturbance.
“Think about what I said—but remember I won’t wait forever.
And once you are mine, you are just mine.
I don’t share,” he snarled the last statement, sending a chill of danger down my spine, but it was not like my body was ever going to obey me.
“Leave,” he said, finally dismissing me as I hurried out of his office.
My mouth swollen from his brutal thrust, with my cheeks inflamed red from shame and an edged climax—my hair laid in disarray on my head, along with my unkempt clothes.
I came face to face with Tina, who stood outside his door as she watched me with my head down leaving the office.
“Why did you take so long, Leah?” Her question halted me in my tracks.
I turned to face her, already irritated by her behavior today.
“What do you mean ma’am?” I asked through gritted teeth, trying my best not to snap.
No good ever came from being disrespectful to your boss—rather than a sack letter.
“You have been in there for over thirty minutes, and I had important documents that needed processing,” she snapped, her eyes flaring with anger as she spoke.
“The president found my company interesting, or was I supposed to walk out on him?” I said, and immediately the words left my mouth, I regretted it.
Knowing exactly what kind of scandal words like that can create, Tina would never miss an opportunity to slam my name in the mud.
“What exactly do you mean by that?” She asked, stepping so close to me, and disrupting my comfort.
“I am sorry ma’am.
I was just trying to say that the president was asking me some things about how this branch is run, and I could not leave without him dismissing me,” I lied through my teeth, my hands clenching into a fist.
My clammy palm was sweaty as I nervously hoped that she bought my lie.
“You better be honest Leah, because the president does not go for women like you.
You’ll only disgrace yourself when he dumps you, if at all he ever found you appealing enough to touch in the first place,” she said sharply, her eyes taking me in, as her features scowled in disgust.
“And after all, he is already madly in love with his fiancée—Jennifer Anderson.
The heiress to the prestigious Anderson’s wealth, you must have heard of her,” she sighed, as she shook her head looking at me in pity.
“Two powerful couples, built from wealth and love.
I would not want you to be embarrassed at her presence, knowing you were trying to seduce her fiancé,” she said darkly, and my eyes widened at her words.
My heart pounded loudly against my rib cage, Ethan was engaged.
Those words echoed tirelessly in my head.
Of course I knew Jennifer Anderson, all the news media outlets sang her praises tirelessly.
She is after all the country’s sweetheart—rich, famous and kind.
But I had no idea she was engaged to Ethan, not like I was publicly active with the new coming information all the time, and they do indeed make a matching fit.
What did I ever expect, that Ethan, had miraculously found my body so appealing and enough that he would not want to let me go, of course not.
Besides it was no news that Jennifer travelled out of the country five years ago to continue her education, almost at the same time that Ethan travelled out.
They must have been together all these years, although no news had been brought out that she is back in the country yet.
Maybe that was the reason he needed me, a nobody to fill his bed, someone who would not risk telling the public about whatever happened between us.
And I fit in that category perfectly, a new whole different taste.
Stupid me, for expecting more from men, mostly powerful ones like him again—not like I was any innocent though, when I was already engaged to another man.
“There is nothing like that happening between us ma’am,” I said quietly, feeling so stupid, for almost falling into his trap and accepting the deal.
“Hmm,” she said walking away.
———-
“These were not what I asked you to do.
These documents are disorganized and the money is not properly balanced,” she shouted in anger, her words brought me out of my thoughts.
I hastily stood up to see what she was going on about now, only for her to swing the folder at me, the edge of the papers cutting through my face, as they scattered on the floor beneath me.
I bent down to pick them, noticing some employees had already stopped their work, and were now watching with wide eyes.
“What do you mean ma’am?
I did exactly what you asked of me, how can the funds not be balanced properly?” I asked, my hands already trembling in fear as I read the documents I held.
My gaze drifted going to the last page, and my mouth gaped open after reading its contents.
“What…no…no…this is not possible ma’am I balanced the money after taking it from the account department.
We closed the deal with the Wilson Industries at eighty million, which I showed you before depositing at the account department.
I have no idea why the account statement shows seventy million deposited ma’am.
Maybe it’s a fault from the accounts department ma’am let’s go there and find out,” I said hurriedly, eager to clear my name.
“Are you blaming other employees for your mishaps, when it is clear you stole money from the company?
Why not just admit it Leah, you are a thief, and you have been doing it for a long time,” she said venomously, and I shook my head at her words, my vision already growing blurry with tears.
“No ma’am, I am not a thief, I would nev…” the resounding sound of a slap echoed as my face was thrown to the other side.
My neck bent awkwardly to the side from being slapped as a stinging pain shot through me.
