Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Safia awoke with a splitting headache, the kind that feels like someone's drumming on your skull. But this wasn't just a headache; it was a deep, bone-aching ache that resonated through her very being, a phantom echo of a fight she couldn't remember.

Blinking was a monumental task, but when she finally managed, a gasp caught in her throat.

Lying next to her was a man, a very handsome, half-naked man. His scent was what hit her first—a wild mix of rain-soaked earth, pine, and something else, something musky and powerfully feral that sent a shiver of both fear and primal recognition down her spine.

A wave of pure panic crashed over her. How had she ended up here, in a bed with a complete stranger? And not just any bed—this room was a hunter's den, a stark contrast to her own humble apartment. The heavy, rustic furniture and animal-hide rugs screamed wealth and power, but also something wild, something ancient and untamed. Safia's mind raced, a frantic search for any memory of the night before.

But there was nothing. The past few hours were a terrifying void, filled only with the faint, phantom feeling of running through a moonlit forest with a sense of desperate, exhilarating freedom.Cautiously, she slid from under the covers, but it was too late.

The man stirred, the muscles in his back rippling with effortless power. As he lifted his head, his cool blue eyes, edged with flecks of gold, met hers, and Safia's heart hammered against her ribs. He was stunning, with sharp, chiseled features and a powerful jawline, but there was a stillness to him that was unnerving, like a predator patiently waiting for its prey to make a move.

His gaze was intense, assessing her with a cool, almost possessive stare."Who are you? And why am I in your bed?" Safia squeaked, the question more a yelp of alarm.

The man didn't seem surprised. A lazy, dangerous smile touched his lips, a flash of white against his tanned skin. He simply pointed to a ring on her finger. It was a simple silver band, but it felt heavy, a shackle.

Then, without a word, he opened a drawer, pulled out a document, and tossed it onto the bed.

It was a marriage contract, but the language was archaic, referring to Alphas, packs, and the binding.“Who are you?” She almost cried."We are married. You are my mate now." he said, his voice a low growl that sent shivers down her spine. “A mate?”"Yes, I am a werewolf and you are my mate. Be ready to welcome a life of thorns.

" “What? A werewolf? How can a human marry a werewolf?” Her eyes flickered to the large, snarling wolf head mounted over the fireplace as if it were still alive.

She heard a silent, menacing warning. The beast’s gaze seemed to follow her, his eyes gleaming in the dim light."How can it be possible?" Safia's voice was a whisper of disbelief. His smile widened, a flash of teeth that was more predatory than charming.

It wasn't a question he was going to answer. He had already given her the only answer that mattered.

Her mind reeled, trying to process the impossible words. Mate. Alpha. Pack. They were just stories, myths from old books. But then she saw it, a small detail she had missed in her panic. On his wrist, a fine line of fur, thick and dark, extended from beneath the cuff of his shirt. It was barely noticeable, almost hidden, but it was there.

And as she watched, her breath catching in her throat, the line of hair seemed to lengthen and darken, creeping up his arm. The blue of his eyes seemed to swirl, the flecks of gold becoming more pronounced, more vibrant.
"I don't understand," she said, her voice shaking now. "Who…how the hell did you marry me?"He rose from the bed, his movements fluid and silent, a terrifying grace added to them.

He moved to the window, pulling back the heavy curtains to reveal a world bathed in moonlight. Outside, in the dense forest that surrounded the house, a lone wolf howled, a long, mournful cry that seemed to call out to him.

His back was to her, but she could see the silhouette of his shoulders, wide and powerful, and the way the moonlight caught the shifting muscles of his arms."I am the Alpha, of Silver Pack," he said, his voice now a deeper, more resonant growl. "And you, little human, are my Luna."She is stumped. “Get ready in an hour. We will be seeing a lawyer soon.” “Why?” The question died down in her throat. She didn't get a chance to speak to him as he closed the door behind him with a thud making Safia almost jump on her feet.

The silence was a suffocating blanket. Safia sat across from Sion, her werewolf husband who was nothing short of a walking nightmare.
His icy blue eyes bored into her, a gaze so intense it felt as though he could see every panicked thought racing through her mind. The air in the opulent study was thick with tension, a stark contrast to the quiet rustling of papers as the lawyers prepared the final documents.

Just a fortnight ago, Safia's life had been normal. Now, she was here, in a stranger's home, about to sign a contract that would bind her to him—a werewolf she had never met before. Her father, Soren, had made the call.

"I'm so sorry, princess. It was unavoidable. We needed to save the pack. Alpha Sion Canes's pack was the most prosperous, and he had made an offer for our territory. I had to accept."

The words replayed in her mind, a cruel, mocking mantra. "Did you just sell me to a strange Alpha without my knowledge to save our pack?"She had demanded an answer with a bitter taste in her mouth.
